Probably my favorite- The capturing of Aquaba scene from Lawrence of Arabia . I can watch that one tracking shot a douzen times in a row.

On a much smaller scale- two fantastic Brian DePalma finales (and both at train stations!)-
The Stairway scene from the Untouchables - the best Potemkin remake yet, and the whole grand Central Station scene from Carlito's way (which also features fantastic action music by the amazing Patrick Doyle, who also scored my next pick)

The Battle of Agincourt from Kenneth Branagh's Henry V. One of the most gut wrenching battles I've seen. You really get an idea of what it was to be one of the combantents there. (Pat Doyle's score is the highlight of the movie for me. Great battle music, together with the beautiful 'Non Nobis, Domine')

The final Duel from Rob Roy. Although the movie wasn't that great- the duel between Liam Neeson and Tim Roth is the best I've ever seen. The swords actualy have weight, the fighters get tired, no fast paced action- seems to me the most realistic approach taken to duelling.

I'll say the first battle from Gladiator, but mainly for Hans Zimmer's score, which is one of the best battle soundtracks ever.

and I can't believe no one has mentioned the final scene in Scarface!!!!! "say 'ello to my little friend!"

The final battle in "Brotherhood of the Wolf", an unknown and under appreciated French movie.

And, in "Romeo Must Die", the scene where the close-up turns into an x-ray shot, and you can see the arm or back break in X-ray! The fight wasn´t all that much, but this new feature was really awesome!

Like Fable and Robnark I like the village attack in The seven samurai, and also some scenes from other Kurosawa movies like Ran and Throne of Blood.

And if you stretch the concept of a battle scene a little some parts of Das Boot have very strong atmosphere wich I like.

yeah, the final scene in throne of blood is quite amazing, the soldiers in camouflage moving towards the castle in the night, and the wonderfully overplayed death scene with the archers. quite unforgettable

"The Battle of Castle Aarrggh" from Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail. Well, it might have been a good one if everyone hadn't been arrested

Like DW and Morlock, I love the battle of Agincourt in Ken Branagh's Henry V. And I agree with Morlock that Patrick Doyle's music really adds to the scene in a perfect manner.

Yes, it's a great scene, and the final scene with all the arrows is wonderful

Yes, that Henry V is a fun scene, though I think I still prefer William Walton's music in Olivier's old Henry V filim. But Brannagh gives us more of the dialog, and shows Henry's doubts.

Btw, Olivier doesn't do that supposedly because Churchill specifically told him a year before that he owed it to his country to do something to lift its spirits. So Olivier made a Henry V that focuses on the events, not the (heavily fictionalized) story of the changing man who made 'em. And Olivier got his knighthood after the war, and ultimately, a peerage.

Damn good films, both of 'em.

@Fable: Fun? You must have a macaber humour! The scene where York is killed is kind of unpleasant, I think...although in reality of course he did not at all die the noble death the play depicts, it is believed he actually fell in the mud with his heavy armour, and was choked (he was quite fat).

I actually don't like Olivier's Henry V as much as Branagh's, simply because I don't like the way the manuscript is cut - IMO Olivier kept several unnecessary scenes and cut out the more interesting ones like the king's doubts etc. Also, I don't like the end of the battle where Dauphin and Henry has a duel. However, if what you tell us about Churchill is correct, I understand why Olivier made the movie in the manner he did.

That was the best movie ever. It also gets my vote.

I like the Battle of the Mounds in Conan the Barbarian. I'm not a really good judge of action sequences, but I like the dialogue (especially Conan's prayer to Crom before the battle), the little touches (such as the splashes of blood), the pivotal dramatic moments (such as the time when Conan pauses to look at an old enemy he has just mortally wounded or just a few moments later when Valeria returns from the grave--briefly--to save him, just like she said she would), the lush scenery, and the music, which I still play occasionally on my CD player.
