Hmmm, Minsc... I tend to think of him more as a big brother type... I think he's great, if a little unhinged, but I'm just not attracted to him! Besides, we all know his heart belongs to Boo!!
@Dragon Wench - too many people think that there is a conflict between being feminist and being feminine. But, we can be both.
@Jennabard - you just don't see enough men in armour these days!

Ah yes the conflict between feminism and femininity. That brings me to another problem. Part of the reason I like Anomen and Valygar is that they're well ... masculine. I don't like overblown machismo (immediately turns me off actually), but I like men to be male. That's why I don't understand why some women on other message boards were proposing Haer Dalis as a possible romance. He's just too damn flaky!
Although, admittedly I don't find him very useful so I've never kept him around long enough to really get to know him.
Minsc...no. He's very endearing but he's just a wee bit too fond of that hamster.....And I just can't see it. There are some men (real and fictional) that you automatically slot into the "has potential" category, and others whom you can't even imagine being romantically involved with. Minsc, for me anyway, fits into the latter category.
I guess if you really like brawn and muscles, he has a nice body, but I find it very difficult to separate physique from the less tangible stuff.

Totally agree. The only male NPCs with any potential in my mind were:
Valygar
Anomen
Cernd
and maybe Edwin, if you go by his portrait not his stats!
Haer'Dalis? Give me a break...

I've never actually recruited Edwin, just dealt with him in the thieves quest. But I admit, I'm intrigued. The intellectual fencing could be something of a turn on.

IMO the first thesis explains the second

Woman is supposed to set the fire of chivalry in the man's heart, and there's nothing else in the whole world able to do it. However, it is also more difficult than wear armor herself, so some Ladies have forgotten their duty for more easy tasks, i guess
Begging pardon for off-topic, of course.
With love,
L.

@Loredweller. You may be right. Like I said, many of us just want it all. As I mentioned, I sincerely feel for the guys these days, trying to anticipate how a woman will respond to certain actions must be a guessing game of Herculean proportions.
So in my case any way, guilty as charged.

Indeed, the line between chivalry and chauvinism is a thin one... And that's why some people hate Anomen, and others understand that he means well
Soooo, how many silent males do you think are reading this thread trying to gain some kind of insight into the female psyche?

Ah, at least they try... (Some of them successfully it would seem, Loredweller

)
Oh, I never recruited Edwin either, since I have only played a good party, and I can see conflict between him and Minsc. I'm gonna play evil and *ahem* try him out though

Is it just my imagination or is this thread vaguely beginning to ressemble Bridget Jone's Diary
I'm half expecting to see at least one of us providing lists like: smoked x number of cigarettes, imbibed in x number of alcohol units etc.
Much fun anyway!!! This is one of the things I really love about the net, bizarre though the concept of such communication may initially seem.
And yes, I very much suspect that more than a few men are hoping to gain some insight into the "feminine mystique" by reading this thread . I've often read magazine's directed at men for precisely that reason
Oops, off topic again
Too get back to it. I suspect that despite all the advances that women have made, there at at some self-declared feminists who secretly yearn to be swept off their feet by that proverbial knight in shining armour. I don't know, somebody that solicitious makes you feel special.... no matter how head strong and independent you actually are.

no matter how strong and independent a woman is, a man will always respect a lady. and besides, men need to be needed, thats why they'er reading this thread, their trying to fit back into our hectic lives.

Aw, now that's just giving them too much credit...

i gave up a long time ago trying to figure out women, and decided to enjoy them for their "mystique". but then i gave up on that and just decided that there's nothing special abotu the opposite sex. they are just as f$%ked up as we are. when they act out they are called b!tches and we are called a$$holes. there are 6 billion people in the world, i guarantee there is nothing in common between the 3 billion of each sex. where one girl wants to be up on a pedestal, another one is drawn to a guy that treats them badly. some men love being the strong figure to "save the damsel in distress", while others are looking for a woman with some attitude to fight with and be stubborn with. if any guys actually are reading this to figur eout women, then they are going WAY in the wrong direction and missing the point. all you can be is yourself, and out of the 3 billion of the opposite sex, a good handful of them will be looking for exactly what you offer.
*strange how a topic about male NPC physiques evolved*

no is true
i'm not given them credit. reading this thread is part of required training to better please the female half. they just have to know why they want to.

You know Georgi, joking aside for a moment, I've become increasingly convinced that superficiality and profundity are not necessarily that far apart. My girl friend and I will often head out for a drink, and start off by discussing fairly intellectual topics . But then, almost invariably, we'll begin to get distracted by the surrounding ...ahem... "scenary"

. Since I'm happily attatched, I'm basically along for the ride (although who says that being on a diet should prevent you from subtly glancing at the sweet menu?). So I don't know, from the sublime to the base???
I think that what this says is that women generally defy the one-dimensional stereotypes often attributed to them (i.e Aphrodite vs. Hera)Or in modern terms the alledgedly "weird" academic as opposed to the "shallow fluffbunny." Or the "lust-driven predetor."
While I can understand some of the concerns that have been raised about Jaheira's relatively brief mourning period, I find it inspiring that most of the guys seem to like her so much, since she is by far the most complex, and multi-dimensional female pc in the game
Am I even making sense?

I really must get to bed.

@Dragon wench
I expect you're right, these things tend to all get mixed up together. Although, ain't it funny how when you go out for a drink with a girlfriend, things of superficial value can take on a whole new profundity...
About Jaheira, well, nobody seems to prefer Aerie, probably the most straightforward romance... And I just love how much character development there is in the Anomen romance.
As for Bridget Jones, yes, I have been thinking that for some time... It's a good job nobody really cares about this being off topic, eh?

I thought that hours ago... but now it's bit late, being 8am and all... I can't believe I have been up all night exploring the Anomen romance!! Argh. Two hours till my lecture...

A man found a bottle laying on a beach and picked it up and rubbed it. A Genie appeared in a cloud of smoke and granted the man a wish.
Man: Ok I'd like a highway from California to Hawaii so that I can drive there to visit my friends instead of paying for an expensive air plane ticket.
Genie: Are you crazy??! You realize the magnitude of that wish with all the support beams in an ocean miles deep that are made to whistand hurricanes, violent earth tremors, suspension ropes, and water proof concrete?! Absolutely out of the question, much to difficult of a wish for me to consider!
Man: Hmmm ok your probably right. Instead I wish to understand women. I wish to know what motivates them, to know what makes them happy and sad, to know what they like in a man, to know what they really mean when they tell you that 'nothing is wrong', and what they feel during PMS or burst out crying for no reason.
Genie: Did you want that highway to be a 4 lane or 6 lane?
Hehe wasn't meaning to offend anyone with that joke but its a joke that I have remembered over the years.
Personally I think that men are more predictable then women, maybe I'm just saying that because I'm a man. Things that motivate men seem to come from basic instinct. Things like a desire for sex and a desire to win. The desire to win is a primal instinct for most men and is a driving force in what most men do. Sports is a great example, seems like most athletes are men. Politics is another as most politicans are male. Men have a natural desire to lead and conquer. Online gaming is another male dominated area as a lot of men are power gamer type players. Seems like most of the women on the board enjoy the interaction between different characters on this board while a lot of men talk about the most powerful class or party. The desire to be a leader among other men leads to those egos that some males have where they try to exert their superiority over others. You've all seen various incarnations of this such as, "You suck dude!" "I own you!" "Bow down bitch!" and other various forms of trash talk most often associated with first person shooters.
In a nutshell men like to lead, conquer, be respected or feared among their peers and to an extent women, and then of course have sex. Is it even possible for a woman to rape a man?
Women, I haven't a damn clue.
