Yeah we're sorry, even the game clearly states "
TEEN not pre-teen, which clearly states : Blood, Use of Alcohol and Violence" -.- geeze... If they let their kids play something like this, knowing that their children watch all this R rated stuff, what's a couple of cracks about women?
I mean, no offence Fable... but i don't think we're doing anything completely wrong...

I withdraw most of the things I said, cause I missed the main meaning of this thread. But that doesnt mean Dhalis is very good at all those things you said (weapons to name only 1....) Jaheira Jan or Aerie outclass Dhalis on certain erea's.
Dont get me wrong after al this though, I like Dhalis and I dont take him in my party all those games for naught.
I think we kind of agree in the discussion. Of course H'D isn't
very good at everything, but he's fairly good at
lots of things - that's what makes him so good as an "overall" character.
I find it natural that a Bard doesn't have the same weapons profiency possibilities as a Fighter. That's why I think he's got an edge being Specialized and able to Dual without heavy penalties. And being able to use all weapons... BTW, speaking of fighting, have you thrown him in battle with full defences up, Offensive Spin activated and on Tenser's? You may as well let your other characters go for lunch...
There are other harps than the one I mentioned, as my text says I just gave you an example. There are also a very nice pair of gloves in ToB IIRC... As for the bonus merchants, is there really someone who hasn't got that patch installed? It is free after all...

Of course, I was also only giving an example
And yes, when I have him in the party, then only thing I use him for
is fighting (I edit his profincies a bit though...)
I give him CF, maybe belm for the extra attack, or that nice katana which you can get from Kurosian from the tactics mod.
Give him some nice spells, that gridle which gives u 18 constitution (another weak point of him by the way, his low hp
), offensive spin, and voila, he can also fight as a fighter. To bad his THACO sucks then, cause of the only * in katana's.....
But I guess you also got items and spells for that problemo

The same argument can be made about parents who allow their pre-teens long, completely unsupervised hours with peer groups. Then they discover Johnny's watching R-rated movies. The answer always seems to be banning something. It never seems to be better, more regular family interaction--because the latter involves acknowledgement of personal responsibility.
But we can't say that when parents complain to a governmental agency about what Johnny reads on the board. Hence, the rules. If you want to continue with this depressing subject, send me a PM (personal message).

The only let down with bards is the fact that the improved bard song bonuses doesn't apply to summons as they surely should have. Perhaps the ability would have been to powerful that way but it is still a shame.
A shame also that I have not been able to fix this apparent bug.

Ixil's Spike + Haer'dalis's backside, you do the math. Bards MAY be a jack of all trades, but unfortunatly they suck at anything in particular. The added benefit of spins with blades basicly increase their tanking ability to accceptable levels in soa - early tob.
A lot of people often say "x npc is awsome, he/she solo'd kangaxx ect" i mean im sure most people have done it with aerie when shes buffed to hell. Thats what seems to be the thing with bards, "dalis is awsome, i used 20 different spells to buff him and he rocked"
Yes he's flexible, but id much rather have a group who have certain roles, at best i find bards can fill gaps or respond to suprises (which after BG2 being out so long now they are far and few between).
Still, at least he makes a nice statue at your stronghold.

Well in ToB he can boost morale and combat skills by standing back and sing most of the time

I dunno about that, haer'dalis being a doomguard / doombringer or whatever its called sings about how gloomy life is, allways saying that its inevitable we are all screwed... allways reminded me of robin's minstrels in Monty python and the holy grail.
Bravely bold Sir Robin rode forth from Camelot.
He was not afraid to die, O brave Sir Robin.
He was not at all afraid to be killed in nasty ways,
Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Robin!
He was not in the least bit scared to be mashed into a pulp,
Or to have his eyes gouged out and his elbows broken,
To have his kneecaps split and his body burned away
And his limbs all hacked and mangled, brave Sir Robin!
His head smashed in and his heart cut out
And his liver removed and his bowels unplugged
And his nostrils raped and his bottom burned off
And his pen--
He might inspire lunatics and evil parties, but thats about all.

I dislike Haer cause basically, especially in ToB he was never that useful... i would rather have an extra sword or whatnot than useless combat bonuses... By ToB enemies hit you fine and you hit enemies just as well without bonuses.
As for what I think are good NPCs.. not best since it all depends what your strat is...

Those bonuses are the most powerful ability in the game IMHO. It turns everybody into a kensai on bersekers rage.
