He's the only actor that when I think of his name, I think 'intelligent'. He's really great at playing smart guys, and he's great at showing you how fast he can think (hence The Paper is my favorite).
But my favorite actor will always be William Holden.

I guess I would have to say "Titanic". I can see why it's considered a good movie, but it just doesn't suit my tastes. Maybe I'm too violent or something....

What an interesting and unusual choice. He is a fine actor, though, isn't he? And largely unknown, today. I think his drinking sidelined a potentially brilliant career, but he always could act rings around more celebrated big names of the sixties and seventies.

Yeah, most people go 'huh?' when I say it. But Network, Sunset Blvd. and Stalag 17 are three of my favorite movies, he gives three of my favorite performances there, and in so many other movies, most of which ranged from ok to bad. He was good even where everything wasn't like in Towering Inferno, S.O.B and The Omen II.
And he could've done so much more if not for his drinking problems (he died after he fainted and hit his head on a table, and blead to death. No one found him for three days).

Another overrated movie (though I don't hate it) is Lost in Translation. Could be it's a movie that works for certain people at certain points in their lives, but it didn't do it for me.

After watching it I had the stranges sense of ..Damn, I could have coloured my hair tonight

@Morlock: Hogan's Heros was a brilliant satire for its day....so subtle that very few fans at the time recognized the accross the board irreverence. I think it took twenty years for people to begin appreciating Holden's genius.

BTW...You named off quite a few of my all-time favourite movies in an earlier list...

Have you ever seen him in Paris When It Sizzles? Also excellent. He really had a very wide range.

Not 12 Angry Men? I'm still awed by the film. IMO quite possibly the greatest ensamble cast ever, and it's still %100 effective 47 years later.

Anything educational or realistic is a good movie. However we don’t watch movies for any reason but to be entertained. So we like fiction, but when I get dragged to an educational or realistic movie, they’re pretty damn good.

Different strokes; I loved it, and the voiceovers seemed a wonderful parody of the kind of Jacques Cousteau documentary that has proved so popular over the years.

I loved the movie too.

I may be off on that number slightly, but the sendup was delightful. As you say, each to their own.

It is a great movie. Over here it came with subtitles though. My girlfriend didn?t like it that much which kind of surprised me. What did your other halfs think?

Maybe its because Amelie is quite hot in a weird kind of way (or is that just me?)

I think I dislike it because everyone, especially the knowitall critics, tell me it's the greatest movie of all time. I resent that.

I don't think it's one of the greatest movie's ever (certainly not one of my favorites), but I think the movie gets better every time. I hated it the first time. I love watching it just for Bernard Herrmann's fantastic score.

My problem is i like too many movies, I like crappy movies a lot so when something semi good comes along I bite.

I definitly have to say Im a huge anti willow fan, just wierds me out.

I think the movie is one of the worst I've ever seen. I can't believe Ron Howard made this crap one year and Parenthood, IMO his masterpiece, the next.
