This alliance is weird. Thieves and mages have NOTHING in common.
It's just that you would be too weak seperately to stand up against the Brotherhood of the Woods, now better known as the League of Divinity.

Nothing in common? Let’s see…both mages and thieves are part of castes that the general public looks upon with a certain degree of misgiving. Both utilize cunning and guile in their professions as opposed to brute force. Both go adventuring for the prospect of acquiring new possessions (thieves go after wealth, mages magical artifacts and scrolls). Besides, how many Cleric/Ranger NPCs are featured in Shadows of Amn (or Baldur’s Gate and Icewind Dale for that matter)? Compare that to the number of Thief/Mages (Imoen, Nalia). I think we have more common ground then you’d like to admit.

Hate to brake it to you Popey but the idea of people establishing organizations on message boards transcends this particular field. Go to any other board from any topic (be it T.V. or whatever) and you will find "Klingons of the Empire" or "Would-be Wives of Hercules" guilds in abundance. This is hardly unique, and you're not the divine maker of this concept.

Anyway guys, let's face reality. We founded this alliance between two classes that, as Kayless said, have a lot in common. We are beginning to have people joining....like Kayless: do you have a writer that makes lines like Kayless' ????
We are having fun discussing what is interesting for a mage/thief.

Nothing but pure fun. So we'll go on discussing our topics. It's not important who started all. If you have fun with your league, i'm happy too.

Elminster is a cleric alright. Allow me to explain.
Elminster started his career as a fighter. But he got bored of that and dualled to thief. Somehow he didn't like that, so he dualled to cleric. When he was an uber-cleric and there was nothing left to discover in this class, he dualled to mage. And now there's no class left to dual to. Poor Elminster.
But since this guy is an exception, let's just drop him.

(I don't like him - In my first game I kicked him only because he is a druid and would like to romance Jaheira, later I realized how weak he is in the combat)
