Robin Hood,
I know what you mean about aparty that could take over the world, but if you look at ToB it will probally be a lot harder (see demorogron.) I that is where this topic is about the perfect party for ToB. And most powerfull parties are fun to play.
That's only your opinion. Me thinks the more there is challenge, the more fun it's to play.

And I intend to make my way through any horde of monsters or demogorgons with each of these groups

I think a halfling theif would still be better due to the theif skill bounus' they get. You could always keep a stock of strength potions or have the clerics cast spells on him. It is kinda micromanaging him but i think the extra skills will help.

Red inquisition,
You might be right about the halfling but elves get bonusses while using longswords.
( halflings with slings? ) and that is a thac0 bonus witch is really handy for thieves.
And elves get also charm and sleep resistances (infravision also). so I think it is a personal choise what you take.
Bonusses to use of sling and resistant to magic ore bonusses while using longswords and high charm ( there are pretty much traps wich have a charm spell. If you walk in to one ore fail to disarm it is handy) and sleep resistances.

RA,
I think halflings also have a resistance to pioson. You are right though it's all about personal likes and dislikes.

Denton,
I like all three of your alignment parties of four a lot.

I think that since poison, paralysis, and death are in the same category of saving throw, when halflings get their bonus to "poison," they get a bonus to saving against paralysis and death as well, because the "resistance" to poison is represented as a bonus to saving throw, and no distinction is made between poison, paralysis, and death. Another thing is the resistance to spells also helps with resistance to wands.
I've checked out and calculated the various saving throws of demi-humans and have confirmed this. The "resistances" are represented as 1/4.5 con.

Riverwind,
On gamebanshee they say that dwarves, gnomes and halflings get 1/3.5 constitution bonusses to their saving throws.
