The Sword Spider form is a great in the beginning of the game, 5 attacks per round + poison damage (you can do Chateu Irenicus all on your own without even resting :D ), and the extra spells are useful, too. The -2 to str and con are not that big of a deal either, a druid has no use of constitution over 16 anyway and the lower strength is easily negated by one of the many strength enhancing girdles.
I know there's something to be done with the kit, but if I'm to be a druid, I'd rather be a Totemic Druid (just like a plain druid, with an animal companion) or a Shapeshifter (Greater Werewolf is very good! -- way too cheesy with ease-of-use...) instead of an Avenger

But without EoU, I'd say the ranking of the druid kits would be Totemic -> Avenger -> Shapeshifter

I agree the Avenger gets weaker at higher levels, it would be a great idea for one of the modders out there to improve the additional forms of the Avenger (and the spirit animals of the Totemic Druid) at higher levels so they don't become useless past the beginning.

For me it has to be cleric.

I used to always play Clerics in my old paper-based AD&D days - I could fight, and I could spell cast.

So when I first fired up BGII, I natually went for a Cleric. Hey! I can fight, and I can spell cast. Great.

Not great. Turns out I am in fact, a crap fighter and a crap spell caster. Who is able to heal. HEAL? Who the hell wants to heal?! I want to massacre monsters will massive fireballs and/or huge and fast moving swords.

gee

In TOB, the Bard rocks...just let him cast mislead serveral times, and let all decoys sing the enhanced bard song. Watch your Bard become a juggernaut...

What happens to a beastmaster when he is "fallen"?

For the worst classes, how about a dual classed thief/cleric? Thief class level high enough to waste experiece points, and low enough not to have the use any item ability.
