That, I believe, is Demogorgon. As far as I know, there was only one 'classic' DnD monster.

I said a Flayer couldn't get to the brain in a real PnP campaign and with an intelligence of 3 wouldn't the brain be like the size of say... a small cashew?
Just because something isn't very smart doesn't mean its brain is tiny...
The Tarrasque is, quite simply, the monster that isn't supposed to be killed. Granted, in PnP the players can do whatever the DM allows, but for someone to just wake up and say, "Oh, I think I'll kill the Tarrasque today," is ludicrous.

Got this from a test that tells you whether or not you're a munchkin...
Non-Munchkin - You have heard of the Tarrasque.
Possible Munchkin - You survived an encounter with the Tarrasque.
Definite Munchkin - You domesticated the Tarrasque.
EDIT: Typo. Meh.

Have you ever read the "Real man, Real roleplayer, Loonie, Munchin" Comparison chart?
Its incredibly amusing
One example is : Apon noticing an ancient sleeping red dragon you do the following....
Real roleplayer : Carefully sneak away, possibly attempting to steal something
Real man : Wake the dragon up, tell it to leave before it gets hurt
Loonie : try to Tie its laces together, sulk becouse its not wearing shoes..
Munchkin : Kill it instantly, resurect it as your familiar and carry its entire hoard away in one trip

Tarrasque does sound pretty scary. Would a vorpal wpn work on it? I mean, 6 or 7 paladins with vorpal wpns could probably hack off enough parts for a wizard to wish it dead.
I agree with gnomethingy that the corpus sounds a lot scarier.

possibly but I could probably eat one per 2 or 3 rounds.

I think the corpus was made for a custom campaign... not sure however
Some sort of uber demi lich alternative... after the corpus dies the Posteritait drains 18 lvls, does about 3d10 dmg and imprisons two people per round..
It might be an actual monster, I dont know much about d&d so its not something id like to be quoted on

no offence but that corpus thingy, who'd use it in a custom campaign??? first of all it's worse than tarrasque, second if a PnP player has no chance surviving an encounter with tarrasque... the "demi-lich" form is too much, imprisoning two guys in a round/18lvl drain, you'd be dead in two hits...
now everyone posts idea's how to kill it yada yada yada, maybe in bg2 or a 50lvl smth could kill it, but i doubt it, gentlemen let the flames begin
what about leviathan, ain't that wormy thing s'pose to be pretty dang tough???

The idea was for the monster to be dealt with, to kill the corpus form and basicly escape with your life was good enough...
It still needs to roll to it, I have the shtuff with me now..
In the campaign I saw it, the corpus was a 25th lvl Human necromancer... he gave a quest then went away or something and you had to find him in his *lair* to get your reward.. it takes some time for the posteritait form to manifest so you could kill him and get away, if you got greedy then you got whooped..
As a necromancer he was still good in combat, but only dealing 1d6+4 with some staff or another per hit and while each hit drained lvls it wasnt garanteed you would take three per round...
He could cast two spells per round, though he didnt have impris.. it was more like
Round 1... Three attacks / spelltrap, absolute immunity
Round 2... three attacks / time stop, followed by many Abhi Dhalzims and lvl draining attacks
After that you basicly get the idea that you should have ran
Unlike the terrasque, wich is basicly in instant death encounter for any non "Godly" party this monster can be encountered by lower lvl chars due the the unfmodified corpus form, wich can be as low as lvl 22... and not that deadly an enemy and if your powerfull enough you can take on the Posteritait form for something like 80k exp +1k per lvl of the Corpus above 22
Oustide its lair a preists *can* turn the posteritait, which counts as having the hit dice equal to the lvl of its corpus... although they suffer 12 lvls drained on any failed attempt
And evil clerics are dominated on a failed attempt.
THe posteritait is a very offensive monster, easily able to take apart an unprepared party.. but it can be killed, especialy since a mage corpuse will leave it with some 60 or so hp's

There is a planet with lots of mindflayers and tarrasques it is actually there homeplanet(the mindflayers used to have a planet that was split in two, one side dark one side light, they had human slaves that evolved into Githyanki/zeri)
Giant space hammsters
