The file says:
Current Work Unit
-----------------
Name: p1413_polyQ36x2 in water
Download time: November 27 11:06:31
Due time: February 5 11:06:31
Progress: 17% [|_________]

But the program says it's going to be ready by friday, but sometimes, when I just start up my computer, it says something like January.
Too answer your questions, my computer is running bout 6 hours a day, and it is using full CPU.
Everything is fine, then - it's just a rather large work unit ;)

Don't forget to fold, everyone! I just noticed at the statistic webpage that Gamebanshee has climbed to 1555 position, and that only 10 CPU:s have been active the last 50 days.

Fold, fold! :)

I am folding at work, but not so fast because I this computer for a lot of heavy calculations, often overnight. My game machine at home used to be the fastest, but since I moved 2.5 weeks ago I have had no internet, and I won't get internet at home until next week I think :(

A better indicator would be that we are team #1412 of #37048. Not to shappy :)

But of course, it isn't about that - it isn't a competition (gotta leave my computer idle, gotta gotta gotta leave my computer idle) :D

Not at all *dammit I still don't have internet at home, grrr, grrrr*

Recently there was an article about climatology published in a fine scientific journal, where this kind of community effort has been used to make calculations. Climate modelling requires a huge amount of processor power, so it was nice to see the researchers managed to get high quality science out of a community project :)

You don't need a decent internet connection. The data it sends is supposedly very small and the client can be set up to ask you before it sends it so there's no excuse even if you're on a 56k :p

I should say: an internet connection. The dial-up modem I used at home only worked 1/5-6 times and the time it took for me to check the mail was shorter than it took for the F@H to connect, it seemed. In any case, now I'm back in business with both my high-end computers (the laptop has broken down).

I would, but my computer is my insomniatic fidget toy, and there really is no downtime of any significant length. It's rare this thing is idle for more than an hour or so at any given time unless I dissapear for a party somewhere.

Would it be worth it to bother if my system is nearly constantly in use?

From what I can tell Magrus it uses your CPU very efficiently. It will use any spare power even if there are applications running (computer doesn't have to be completely idle).

Ofcourse while your playing a game I doubt it will be able to do much "folding", but while you're spamming, should be able to get some done. And you seem to do a fair bit of that :D .

I've made a fair chunk of progress already while I've been browsing the boards :) . I'm down for completing this Work Unit on Thursday now ;) Not the 150 days it first predicted :o

Well I installed it, and it's doing something that says "waiting for core" and on step 34 ATM. Whatever that means, I've no clue, but it can just run on it's own I guess.

When I want to play games, I have to quit folding, cuz else it minimalizes my game all the time. Strange.

Well, for some reason it isn't registering as using any of my idle process, which is at 97-99% ATM. Maybe it's doing work and such to get things set up on my computer before it actually kicks in fully?
