its char 2..the lower thaco you have the better..it gives you a greater chance to hit..its therefore crom faeyr is so good..it the strength bonus gives you an enourmous thaco modifier..making it a very good weapon..if not one of the best..and coupled with celestial fury..a char becomes a killing machine.

Ok I get the damage part of combat. But what about ROUNDS ? I 100% have no idea where that is going. Does that mean if your quick with the pause button, that in one round, you can go and hit 5 people at the same time, or is it automatic or what ? Thanks, for helping.

Each character gets a certain number of attacks per round. Base is 1, Specialization gives +1/2 and fighters get +1/2 at levels 7 and 13. Monks get +1/2 every 3 levels.

BTW: On my above questions I should have been clearer that it is attacking eachother...otherwise the calculations are impossible.

But what do they DO. For example, if you have a weapon that does 1d10 damage, and you roll say a 9, so do your 9 damage, but you have 5 attacks per round, do you do 9*5 damage, 45 ?

I think Nighthawk means that you should take into account the armor modifiers for certain types of weapons.Or am i wrong?

Each round for each of your attacks you:
- pick a target (or continue with the same target)
- make a to-hit roll based on your Thac0, the targets AC and any modifiers
- if successful you roll damage
- repeat for each additional attack

The animations will show you swinging more often than you actually have attacks. For each attack you can see (depending on settings) the to-hit roll in the text window followed by a Hit/Miss then the damage. With missile weapons other text may have the chance to fill in between the to-hit and the damage since it takes a while for the attack to reach the target (this is even true for melee but less noticeable).

Bill: Yes

In fact, despite worse Thac0 and AC the character with the Flail of the Ages will have the same to-hit (18) as the character with Celestial Fury...at least in attacking eachother.

Also, although Celestial Fury has a chance of doing 20 extra damage, this only happens 5% or 1/20 of the time so it only gives +1 to the expected damage per hit...so the Flail of the Ages ends up netting 1 more damage per hit.
