LIFEHOUSE
"You and Me"
What day is it? And in what month?
This clock never seemed so alive
I can't keep up and I can't back down
I've been losing so much time
Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do
Nothing to lose
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you
All of the things that I want to say just aren't coming out right
I'm tripping on words
You've got my head spinning
I don't know where to go from here
Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to tell
Nothing to prove
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you
There's something about you now
I can't quite figure out
Everything she does is beautiful
Everything she does is right
Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do
Nothing to lose
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you
and me and all of the people with nothing to do
Nothing to prove
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you
What day is it?
And in what month?
This clock never seemed so alive

MOODY BLUES
"Your Wildest Dreams"
Once upon a time
Once when you were mine
I remember skies
Reflected in your eyes
I wonder where you are
I wonder if you
Think about me
Once upon a time
In your wildest dreams
Once the world was new
Our bodies felt the morning dew
That greets the brand new day
We couldn't tear ourselves away
I wonder if you care
I wonder if you still remember
Once upon a time
In your wildest dreams
And when the music plays
And when the words are
Touched with sorrow
When the music plays
I hear the sound
I had to follow
Once upon a time
Once beneath the stars
The universe was ours
Love was all we knew
And all I knew was you
I wonder if you know
I wonder if you think about it
Once upon a time
In your wildest dreams
And when the music plays
And when the words are
Touched with sorrow
When the music plays
And when the music plays
I hear the sound
I had to follow
Once upon a time
Once upon a time
Once when you were mine
I remember skies
Mirrored in your eyes
I wonder where you are
I wonder if you
Think about me
Once upon a time
In your wildest dreams

  Not the statemant I would expect to come out of the moderator whose normal image in my mind is of Rocky (check out some of the threads on the elder scrolls official forums, too lazy to find a link, anyhoo its this floating rock in oblivion somewhere outside of a town....).
@Chu, I wouldnt say a tear, but it did inspire me to uh, well, you know, play oblivion. Its a good song, and as I dont listen to music, my favorite.

I have the problem that when I get really affected by a song, I listen to it a hell of a lot and then the effect wears off. But that said, here's a few that have hit me in the past:
Try Not to Breathe - R.E.M.
In the Hall of the Mountain King - Edvard Grieg
Then and Now - Final Four
Kids of the K-Hole - NOFX
Geen Fields of France - Dropkick Murphys
She's Leaving Home - Billy Bragg's version of the Beatles song
Paint It Black - Rolling Stones
C'mon C'mon - The Von Bondies (theme from Denis Leary's Rescue Me)

Many songs. I'm easily moved by music. But a few of the most important
Le plat pays/Mijn vlakke land - Jacques Brel
There is a light that never goes out - The Smiths
Satellite of Love - Lou Reed
That was my Veil - John Parish & P.J. Harvey
Watching Alice - Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Space Oddity - David Bowie

by Greg.
No Surprises - Radiohead
Sing For Absolution - Muse
Hurt - Johnny Cash
These are all that occur right now.
Thought of another:
Heroes - David Bowie

Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple simply because it's so frickin' awsome! Only problem is that Deep Purple's version seems a bit... lame. I prefer Black Sabbath's version, but I haven't been able to find a high-quality version of it

Dream Theatre also did one, but I don't like it as much as Black Sabbath's... So, since the three versions I have are all less than great, I play it on my own

I can only play the intro part, but that's plenty
Paschendale by Iron Maiden has this *something* that makes you dig it

For the clueless, Paschendale is a place in Germany where lots of people died in WW1, not because of the battle being fought there, or not directly because of it... It was rainy and muddy... If you fell down you were doomed to drown in mud. So they had the choice of getting shot, or getting a slow death beneath the earth. Mostly a combination of getting shot and falling down because of it
Hunting Song by Korpiklaani makes me wanna run around in a forest and scream my guts out

It's incredibly energetic x)

Bread and Roses sung by Judi Collins
Tam Lin - Fairport Convention
The Sun Never Shines on the Poor - Richard and Linda Thompson
Twa Corbies - anyone at all
Do You Love Me part 2 -Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
A Very Cellular Song - Incredible String Band
Wild Eyed Boy from Freecloud - Dave Bowie

Germany?

:speech:

:speech:

Belgium was occupied by the Germans, but...
Passchendaele is in "Flanders' fields where poppies grow" my dear... about 200 km from Germany. But you're right that a lot of people died on that side of the front (part of the Ypres salient). (BTW, they produce a nice cheese there).
No major trench battles were ever fought in Germany. The Western Front in WW I was from the mouth of the river Yser across western Belgium through France to the river Rhine.

About "Hurt" by Johnny Cash. The origal version was better!
Ok, I just had a talk with Lori today. I think I'm sending her this computer when I get my new one later this month. Seeing this thread, and keeping her in mind, I recalled one song that reminds me of her and my time with her every time I hear it. Probably because of the whole spanish thing.
"Smooth" by Santana ft. Rob Thomas
"Closer" by NIN. I know, dirty song, but fond memories from a long time ago with Jenica. SOOO glad her mother never found out about that.
"Goodnight" by Dry Kill Logic. The only soft song I've ever heard them do and I think it is done wonderfully, and shows they really can do something that isn't hardcore metal.
"Black Dog" by Led Zeppelin brings back memories of Misty. That was a fun day.
"D'yer Mak'er" by Led Zeppelin is the one that sticks out most though. I always stopped what I'm doing to listen when I hear it. It always reminds of something I should have said to Cassie.

The Morrowind theme moved me substantially, Jeremy Soule is quite talented, but the Oblivion track is lacking soul (no pun intended).
As a few 'techno' tracks have been mentioned...
For An Angel by Paul Van Dyk, that piano sample sends shivers down my spine like few other compositions do, and
Southern Sun by Paul Oakenfold - an incredibly uplifting sample with equally uplifting vocals (both technically trance

)
A track or two more in the genre of electronica:
Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad? by Moby, how three different samples repeated a dozen times over can move me so much I'll never know.
North by Paul Mounsey; this guy is a genius in his own niche genre - for this particular track think Scottish folk presented for the contemporary ear, you can truly feel the wind blowing on your face.
It's been mentioned a few times, but personally I prefer Mr Cash's version of the song
Hurt, with the video it is both inspiring and chilling.
Layla by Derek and the Dominoes - need I say more? Raunchy and so raw, no song has so visciously pierced me with its emotion.
With Or Without You by U2, in my opinion the best song they have ever performed and certainly one of my favourite tunes even though my opinion on the band varies from day to day. The best display of Bono's vocals, exemplifies The Edge's talents on guitar, and Clayton's most memorable bassline. First time I heard this song, even though it was built up to me by so many, tears gathered in my eyes.
Hans Zimmer has been mentioned a few times, but I'm not sure anyone's mentioned
Now We Are Free with Lisa Gerrard- makes me melt everytime I hear it. Certainly one of the best vocal works of the past decade, despite any kind of discernable language being nonexistant it moves you in so many ways.
I think that will do for now, a few tracks from a few genres. Could go on with so many more

music has has a large influence on my life.

He also wrote some of the Neverwinter Nights music I think...
A couple of ones I like from games (not including the battle ones which I generally like

)
The Frozen Wastes music from HotU...that had
presence.
The dream/undercity music from BG1.
And recently I've been listening to some of the music from Beyond Divinity, which is provided on the CD in .OGG format. That's quite good.
I could probably list some Metal too, but that's for another time...

Not a song to make me "swoon", however it inspires a very specific reaction when I hear it. "Never Get Caught" by American Head Charge. It was my get-a-way song for when we flew (not literally! :laugh

out of trouble in Ohio. :mischief:

..ahem. Landslide by fleetwood mac.
I took my love and I took it down
I climbed a mountain and I turned around
And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills
'Till the landslide brought me down
Oh, mirror in the sky
What is love
Can the child within my heart rise above
Can I sail thru the changing ocean tides
Can I handle the seasons of my life
Mmm Mmm...I don't know...Mmm Mmm...Mmm Mmm
Well, I've been afraid of changing
'Cause I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Children get older
I'm getting older too
So...
(Gutiar solo)
I've been afraid of changing
'Cause I, I´ve built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Children get older
I'm getting older too
I'm getting older too
So, take this love, take it down
Oh if you climb a mountain and you turn around
If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well the landslide will bring you down, down
And If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well maybe the landslide will bring you down
Well well, the landslide will bring you down
Mad world from Gary Jules,
When i first heared it on the ending credits of Donnie Darko i was touched by it. I think it had something to do with the combination of a very very good movie. (I didnt link it to the original Tears for Fears version then)
It's been my favorite song for a long time, and i was realy bumped when it suddenly became a big hit here in the Netherlands more then a year later.
I agree with stilger , its a great song..and yeah I also dont like the original too much...its to up beat for a sad song
others good songs include..."true(wedding singer song)","love song(311)" and the "dont you forget about me" song
