Yeah... i've done a bunch of level-by-level stuff on the Minion vs other non-force classes, but i've been a touch... distracted lately, and don't have as much as i had hoped; however, i will be posting an early anaylasis soon. ;)

Edit: Wow, did you know there was a bounty hunter class? I'll be adding that in too.

Re-Edit: Gah, it's the same as Soldier. All it gives you is a cool name.

Well, so far, it seems like a more well-rounded fighter class, where a Soldier might have saves of (F/R/W) 4/1/1, and minion would have 2/2/2. Otherwise, it's alosot identical in other areas. But i've only tried lower levels as of yet.

Well, I've done it. Kreia would be proud of me. I've just finished the game. No Force Powers. No Lightsabers. No Force Persuade. Not for me, not for any of my party.

I started Sentinel, went to Marauder at level 18. I concentrated on building a tank, and ended up with 568 HP. I chose and made my items carefully, selecting ones that would absorb or negate damage, with increasing STR and COn a secondary priority from them.

Finishing raw stats: STR 21 DEX 10 CON 19 INT 18 WIS 11 CHA 8 Fort 22 refl 17 will 12.

Actually, the second half of the game was in some ways easier than as a Force user, because I had a simpler set of priorities and paid more attention to defensive items and things like stims. I flattened both Traya and Sion without needing so much as a medpac.

Well, I guess I'll eat my words.
As the first person to post anything openly doubting that it could be done, I'll be the first to post my congradulations to your success.

Congratulations

Hi Alcina, congratulations for getting through KOTOR 2 without any force powers. The thought of playing through KOTOR 2 with no force powers at all, let alone without lightsabers does sound quite far fetched but since you managed to complete it, it must be something worthy of note.

First, thank you very much to all those who congratulated me. *bows*

Are you sure this is because of your class not your Stats? I just started a Minion with 16,8,16,16,8,8 and he had 4,0,0 as saves, exactly the same as an equivalent Soldier.

The really important dfference between a Soldier and a Minion that I've found is that a Minion CAN'T take medium or heavy armour!!! Only light. Oooh!

Ah, i started my minion with 10/10/10/10/10/10 so that it reflected the class, and not the stats. ;)
I would keep strength (attack damage) & dexterity (attack hit) the priority.
Obviously you've never played D&D. Strength determines your damage, yes, but also your attack with melee weapons (unless you take the weapon finesse feat, in which case, dexterity is added to your melee attack bonus). Dex is for Armor Class, and ranged attack. And don't forget about those reflex saves.

This is just 3.5, right? What about 2.0?

Trayus, not everyone who played the KOTOR series have any background in D&D at all. Even I don't have any experience playing D&D at all. Anyway, the d20 system is easy to understand even to those who haven't touched RPGs at all compared to the previous AD&D system in the Baldur Gates series that'll make any beginner cringe when seeing the stats in the game. Need a manual just to grasp the whole game.

And by the way, even someone who's played any RPGs know what strength and dexterity do. No need to remind them.

Well, obviously this is true for many people, but i hardly think this is worth arguing over.

Heh heh, there's nothing wrong with the BG 2.0 rules! They make you feel smart! :p

So... is anything happening in this thread, apart from a half-heardted discussion of the various pros and cons of DnD?

this is an interesting challenge.

just finished a lightside no force user (with the caveats of non combat use of heal, non combat use of speed 1, and i think i used force persuade a few times)

statrting stats for a female sentinel:

str 14, dex 12, con 14, int 16, wis 10, cha 10.

boosted con until 18 was reached then strength, both for implants and health.

used dual pistols or double vibroblade for most of the game & heavy armor.

i was rather fond of the muktuk or somesuch armor with energy shields and bio underlays. (also used an ubese enviro suit for awhile and a krath armour suit)

(planets, dant -> nar shada -> ond -> korriban -> end...)

the academy was pretty rough, prior to that my party became so adept at using blasters that most opponents were reduced to slag quite quickly, used mostly: disciple & mira / atton (some bao & mandalore and the droids but not that much)
