It's really not a matter of trust, as it's a user-made modification by an unknown author for one specific version of vBulletin. There's absolutely no guarantee that it will function properly. And even if it works initially, there's no way of knowing if it will be compatible with future versions of vBulletin. If the author doesn't continue to update the hack, it's possible I may even have to remove it at a later date if it suddenly stops working or starts causing problems.
Even with those caveats, I have no problem with installing, monitoring, and troubleshooting the hack if a majority of the community feels that it would be beneficial. I'm really not convinced that's the case by the limited number of replies in this thread so far, though. Therefore, I would appreciate it if anyone reading through this could post their opinion, whether it be for or against the hiding of post counts.
Personally, I don't think the post count issue is so important so I think it is worthwhile adding this extra workload for you plus a risk for even more work if it does not function well. I do however agree that a board-wide poll should be performed. Perhaps you or one of the supermods could make a poll in the poll forum, and all moderators place a sticky with a link to this poll in each of our forums?

Unless it is a critical issue there is no point in implementing a potentially risky and troublesome hack. Right now there is no evidence suggesting that removing post counts would bring any benefits.

I care not one way or another and don't see it as being worth the trouble at all.
I couldn't care either way. Frankly, I post when I wish to, as often as I wish to, without regards as to how it affects my post count. If that's once a week, or 100 times a day, *shrugs* what should it matter? I think a number of people seem to assume the fact people post a lot has to do with them wanting to be bumping up their post counts. I don't think changing post count options will change that for the most part. The post count function was shut off on the "spam" section of the last board I helped run, to keep it from affecting post count, and that didn't affect the rate at which people kept spamming at all.
Heh, I was once in this clan, and it had a spam board which didn't add to post count, yet people made threads with titles like "up ur pst count!!!!1111"

The newest poll in the poll forum automatically shows up on GameBanshee's homepage, and I'd like to give the E3 poll another week or so in the spotlight. Can we hold off on this decision until then?

I like 'em.
It can tell you things like aatars and sigs do, but in a more ague way.
It's like how Rav has 18k posts and has been here a year, and posts in the SYM thread a lot, while much older members hae much lower post counts, but are much more serious, and tend to post mainly in game threads. So yeah, I'd say the Ravvit is pretty laid back, and I don't think he'd disagree.
You're the Admin, and you'e got about 650 posts, this tells me you only post when you need to. Along with the other stuff and things said about you, I'e summised that you're a pretty cool guy, you're serious, and you must be a pretty good Admin since people seem to respect you.
So yeah, I think post count helps.

Yeah, I think I can agree with that....
As for the voting, it doesn't particularly bother me when it goes up, we've coped all this time after all.
And I'll vote to keep the status quo, I believe.

Is there going to be an option for 'undecided'? Or possibly my earlier suggestion of the hide being optional for each viewer? Although from what I read about the mod to hide post counts it doesnt sound like thats an option.
I will probably vote against hiding them, I see no reason to get rid of them, and I see potential harm in installing the mod.
