Yup, I tend to agree with the Poll conflicting with the Login server group, possibly some Java error?

Just thought I'd add I also got a database error then, when posting in a thread.
Code: Select all

Disabling the poll sounds like it would fix it. Whenever I go to the front page logged in it gets stuck loading the poll.

I've disabled the poll until we're able to figure out what might be wrong with it. For those of you who were having issues with the homepage, I'd appreciate it if you could let me know if you're stilling having problems.

OMG, I can see the front page!
It's funny how much you appreciate something when you havn't see it for a month.
I may keep it loaded for a week or so just till I get used to seeing it again.
Out of curiosity, if it is a Java scripted poll, is it possible your using some new Java version we don't have access too or some new version of Net Framework?

No problems for me now after the poll has been removed.

Well - this forum does use "AJAX" technology for some things but I doubt it could give you the effect in question. And if this was the reason, you'd have problems pretty much everywhere else which utlilzes this "AJAX" technique - which I don't seem to have, neither here or on the pages I make myself.
Secondly the site is build using php, so nope - not .NET framework. Besides - that would never give such a problem either - .NET framework is not requiered on clients for pages which run on asp.net, seeing as asp.net is serverside code.
My immideate bid, withouth knowing the inner workings of the webpage, would more be something to do with the poll itself and possible underlying SQL and dabatase.

Yeah, it works for me now too.
As to what DW said, for me the GB forums were down from about 2-5pm (+10GMT) today. I didn't get those specific messages, instead just a message saying it was down.

I'm preparing to add a new vBulletin utility called vBSEO, which more than likely has been causing some problems. It's a program that will create static webpages for every thread here in the forums (for search engine spidering purposes) and it required the reconfiguring of Apache. This caused some of the 500 errors and some of the slowdown issues as well. After a bit more optimization, though, things seem to be running quickly again. Please let me know if there are any other issues.

Was any of this the reason that I was totally unable to load GB?

Ever since I noticed the threads being displayed with links like this:
http://www.gamebanshee.com/forums/gameb ... 87-p2.html
I haven't had any issues with loading, DB errors, etc.
