I was one of the few boys who didn't get into the whole anti-girl thing as a child, so generic interest in girls as *shock* fellow human beings began about age 6 or so.
"Interest" interest, about 10 or 11, but going to an all-white, middle class that was my first real encounter with the joys of exoticism (a fascination which has only gotten worse with the years, thank heavens for Australian multiculturalism is all I can say) so it's hard to say how useful that is to you.

I suppose that the beginning of Secondary school (11 onwards) marked a change - I remember that when we had to wait for a particular lesson (maths) we had to wait outside the girls changing room and the boys all hoped for a furtive flash of breast when the door was opening and closing as the quicker changers piled out. we started liking girls generally and I became very friendly with a particular girl, but there was no conscious romance - we became kind of affectionate mates and liked to spend time with each other after school. somehow hormones eventually ended up getting in the way and we fell out for a while after a tiff that neither of us understood, but which seemed to start with a jealousy (can't remember which of us was to blame).
I had a few 'crushes' on different girls after that, but it was when I got to about 15 I started 'dating' girls - taking them to the pictures, that kind of thing. then at 16, I started being in longer-term relationships and have been with somebody or other just about the whole time since, bar a few months here and there.
