She doesn't live in Sweden. She goes there for dinner sometimes, but mostly she's living in sciencelab-land.

Boadicea is definitely on my list. I'm going to make her a nice spear too.

Trust me, if you name your daughter Boadicea she will come after you with a shotgun, not a spear. I grew up being the only one in Norway with my name in the 70s and early 80s, and there was times when I wanted to murder my parents.

If you're dead set on something like that, may I suggest Morrigan or Morgana?

Athena is nice, but she's a mythology figure. Boadicea was a historical figure, and boy did she kick some serious opressor behinds! I wonder if my wife would do the same, were I killed by invaders...

@moonbiter: I think he/she needs at least three names. That way he/she has a few to choose from. But Boadicea rocks! Besides, compared to Quetzalqoatl it's as conventional as John or Jill.

This is a matter of opinion. To her worshippers, she's no doubt real enough. Really, you should be more sensitive in these matters. Especially if you don't want to end up with an arrow in a place where the moon don't shine.

I've worn out my PC. From now on, I wish to be a standing candidate for the job as GB jester - the only person allowed to speak the truth, no matter how uncomfortable, and get away with it. Quite probably, and I wonder if being pierced by a spear isn't to be preferred. With modern medicine, you have a better chance of survival.

I think parasite works fine, even though on bad days I think CE would go to "Abschaum" or worse. I'm at loss why anyone would subject themselves to the agony of childbearing more than once. The first time I can understand, considering the massive amounts of positive disinformation we get shoved down our throats, but that usually wears off from personal experience. Could also be that CE isn't producing enough of the heavy drugs your system is supposed to keep you high on.

A fine British comic (whose name I can't remember at the moment) memorably referred to childbirth as trying to squeeze a melon through a keyhole. I suspect there's a lot to be said for that image. And if we accept this, then we might conclude that the preceding 9 months of nausea, endless urination, balance problems, backache, and sudden hormone shifts might be seen as Mother Nature's way of making the pregnant woman just glad the whole thing is about to be over.

How is CE holding up? She does not impress me as the broad-hipped Chinese peasant of legend who pops a kid in the morning and is out working in the fields by noon.

Maybe name the child after a hotel chain they frequent, and an exotic city? Perhaps Hilton Paris?

I think CE told me they were midway. That still gives us plenty of time to decide on the name of their child.
