Then, why not just say that you were inspired by so-and-so game/movie? At least you're acknowledging where you got your ideas from.

Cause - that, how silly it might sounds, is not "innovative" and thus doesn't sound good in PR pieces and therefore aren't usable when wanting to hype something.
Things have to be ground breaking, innovative, cutting-edge .... "next gen" ... and all that nonsense which apparently still works when capturing audiences.

So.. essentially what you're saying isn't so much a spoiler for MotB as it is for real life?
No, I did not give you any spoiler. Firstly, because you did not specify you wanted to be spoiled. Secondly, I said "for a price".
My last comment you quoted was unrelated to MotB spoilers. Or to real life spoilers.

I agree 100% that the hype is just a part of marketing strategy. The games are usually designed by shuffling cliches, mixing them in various proportion, and then adding cute finishing touches to the mix. It is like a salad bar with optional dressing. The resulting combination can be considered "innovative" the same way salad on your plate can. If the recipe belongs to a Famous Chef, or a Famous Critic calls it "The Salad of the Year", customers pay attention. For example, "This is Chef Obsidian. The salad must be good".

What can I do for you?

You can mix me a salad. For example, how do you envision a good spy-thriller? What ingredients would you like to add? What tickles your fancy?

I think you'd better head over to a salad bar then. I really don't like or dislike spy movies enough to have a serious opinion about them. My 'mix' would probably just involve less of the themes that annoy me. Events following up at a ridiculous pace, womanizers, sex and 'splosions.
