@Archeron-yep, it's grown in the secret laboratory's hydroponics set-up.

@Sleep-If you're this freaked out by a slightly lewd smiley at age 19 what are you going to be like when you're 60 or so? You're meant to be young, you're less than a year older than me. Act your age, man!

I'm more mellow about life than Archie seems to be. I don't rush to get where I'm going, I just go wherever the fancy takes me, enjoying the experiences along the way. So far no-one else seems to be going my direction, whatever way it lies, anyway, so there's no rush.

I've got a GB smiley in mine. Not sure about external smilies though. You can set it as your avatar, if you want.

@Beldin-I'm just encouraging him not to waste the best years of his life (He typed from his PC on the site he went to every day  )

What do you suggest? I can only think that if i become part of some niche in society then i would surely be acting my age, at the moment it is a choice between clubber or metal, which one...it's such a tough choice....

Why do you need to join some niche? I've never felt the need to do so and I've always gotten along just fine.

Given a choice between the two sub-cultures you mentioned, I'd opt for clubber myself. ;)

EDIT-Good night @Archie.

Ode are you taking me seriously? :D :D If so i will field your question in a serious manner. It has been my experience that a lot of youths today are herded into particular groups because they feel peer pressure and need to be accepted. There are far too many people who's only identity is in a group situation, they are not individuals rather they are part of the group conciousness... so i was just making a joke about modern youth and it's need to be part of a group :)

Beldin:

See ya' @Archie !

@Sleepo: Don't you think that a lot of "the young" just join groups because they're starved for "action" ? I've discovered in the last years that fewer and fewer people like to read ...or just sit around and have a nice little talk ?
Or (since I'm a SLURR) just a quiet smoke and listen some music in their heads ;) :D :)

I never take anything seriously. But I've got friends who are clubbers, and I hate metal, so...

Besides, I could never take anyone who gets worried at a tongue-flapping smiley seriously... :p ;)

Not necessarily, it is difficult to categorise entire demographics into one easy statistic or conclusion. Most of the young people i have known have become part of one scene or another, not because it brings them excitement but because of a larger problem of not being happy with themselves and needing to be part of a group to feel content....of course it might be me just being judegmental :)

Most people i know don't know how to have a conversation, they are interested in football, comp games and clubbing, that is their entire knowledgebase, in certain company this can keep them talking for ages, but it is vacuous talk and endlessly derivative.

LOL :D excuse me being serious in your thread :o

No worries,

We're all here because OTHER people (i.e. IRL) tend to bore us.... so don't be afraid of some sensible talk for a change... ;) :D

So I've noticed too, Beldin and they're not all the more happy once they have successfully joined a group. On the contrary...
I've discovered in the last years that fewer and fewer people like to read ...or just sit around and have a nice little talk ?
Like I said before, I enjoyed reading The Death Gate Cycle and I can't say many of the other students enjoyed reading books besides the required reading. There were even a few who had never heard of Tolkien, when they asked me about the story I had written, inspired by the books (this was already five years ago, so wààày before the movie came out in Belgium).
