“What the heck is wrong with Yshania?” Gwalchmai asked as Yshania seemed to be caught in the throes of some sort of ecstatic convulsions.

“I may have seen this sort of thing before,” T’lainya answered looking worried, “If ‘Shani’s head starts spinning around and she starts drooling white foam, we’ll know for sure. We’ll have to prepare for an exorcism.”

“That sounds serious.”

“She may be very dangerous as well. I’ll get ready to hit her with Mental Domination. You may have to tackle her physically. Oh, no! Dragon Wench is affected as well!”

Gwalchmai crouched, ready to run at T’lainya’s signal. He watched as Yshania’s feet tore up small bits of turf and her madly cavorting arms destroyed nearby bushes. Dragon Wench was leaping up and down, shouting the apparent name of some demonic overlord, “Whooo-Pee!” Out of the corner of his eye, he noted the arrival of Nippy and Vivien, and he was grateful for the help they could provide.

Meanwhile, T’lainya’s eyes narrowed, “Waitaminute. I think they may be….. dancing?” Gwalchmai looked confused.

“We’re rejoicing!” shouted Yahania, “To finish the ritual!”

T’lainya looked at Gwalchmai. Gwalchmai looked at T’lainya. “Oh,” they said in unison. Then they tromped off to the keep, with Nippy, Vivien, Flamey, and eventually Dragon Wench and Yshania in tow.

{LMAO :D }

"Ugh," Der-draigen said with emphasis. "Can't we watch Animal Planet or something?..."

"The dread wolves were on last week," the Shadow Master replied. "I have it on tape, if you want."

"Thanks," Deedee said, while eyeing the remote control and trying to think of a way to wrest it from the Shadow Master without his noticing too much.

But the SM was too sharp. He caught her glancing sideways at him. "Say," he said, "do you think we should pick out curtains or something?..."

sorry for not posting much, EverCrack has got a hold on me

Harry looked up as there was a harsh hiss then a soft pop from the portal as it disappeared in the golden rays of lighting from the afternoon sun, returning to the horses they had acquired Harry and his companion mounted and slowly rode into the keep talking quietly.
They paused at the gates for a moment and Harry took a deep breath wondering what kind of welcome he'd get after the events leading up to his disappearence, then with a look of determination on his face rode up to the stables where the horses were giving food and water.
Moving into the keep itself voices could be heard coming from the kitchen and they moved in that direction.

Sitting, staring into the quietly glowing embers of the fading flames, he watched them slowly dwindle and nearly die. He sat watching, transfixed by their inability to die. Even more oddly, they began to grow in size and rebuild back to their original size. Slightly disturbed, Farscape walked over and placed his foot down on the embers, trying to kill them. But they would not die.
"Amusing" He chuckled softly. "Point taken Torm" He went back up to his room and redoned his armour and weapons. "I'll go find that damn stone"

potential for editing, just ask

Flanders stared at the remaining man in the grove, sensing the psionic energy about him. His stare was returned and an understanding reached, so he dropped a faerie fire about himself as an action of peace. The magic of the spell barely penetrated his deep globe of night, the little purple flames danced erratically about in the darkness dimly outlining the figure within. The eruption of the flames within the darkness brought low growls from the wolverine and lynx sitting attentively outside the globe.

A bit tall for a drow , Thantor mused telepathically. How is it you use abilities innate to denizens of the underdark?

Innate, indeed . replied Flanders. They are as learned as one would be with a sword or bow. Are you in league with those that brought forth the hulks and illithids to the surface?

Perhaps; however it would seem I am in more of a position to ask the questions. A drow such as yourself certainly won’t melt in the sunlight. Why not disperse the darkness so we may see one another, face to face.

This one will.

Will what?

Flanders didn’t answer with a word. He projected an image of what he had become and what he was capable of. Thantor could feel the emotion linked to the images. The carnage, the hunger, a transformation most unholy…all of this chased with an image of who he once must have been. He relented, giving Thantor a chance to process all he had been sent.

By the gods, bitten by a true master, was Thantor’s only response.

Flanders, grinning within the globe replied, And he’s terrified of me.

Walking from the forest back to the keep seemed to take forever. It didn’t help that Yshania and Dragon Wench kept breaking into song every few steps and Vivien’s elemental friend kept setting the bushes on fire. Finally, they entered the kitchen and started rummaging for sustenance. Gwalchmai attempted to satisfy himself with a salad of raw spinach with too little dressing.

The blandness of the food seemed to be a reflection of his somber mood. The third ritual was coming up, and he was sure that they would face their toughest opponents. Worse yet, he knew that as soon as the ritual was completed, they would have to face the Abomination. He looked around and tried to take a tally of the people in the room. It occurred to him that they hadn’t seen the halfling warrior woman since the previous evening. “Who all is here?”

Dragon Wench, Yshania, Vivien, T’lainya, and Nippy all waved their hands at him. Jennabard, who had just walked in, said “I’m here, but Thantor is still out near the forest talking to our dark visitor.”

“I’m here, too!” Mysteria said. “What dark visitor?” Jennabard quickly explained about the mysterious man in the bubble of darkness who helped against the Mind Flayers.

Bloodstalker spoke through a mouthful of food, “I saw Farscape around here somewhere. And there was a thief and mage whom I’ve never seen before helping us against the demon.”

“That would be Harry and a friend,” interjected Nippy. Then he saw the worried look on Gwalchmai’s face and added, “Harry seemed pretty much back to normal…”

“Nevertheless, we should be cautious with Harry. We can’t escape the fact that he was enthralled by the Shadow Master somehow.” Gwalchmai walked over to the window and spoke about his concerns. “We need to perform the Dusk Ritual pretty soon, and I think its going to be a nasty fight.” He looked pointedly at Bloodstalker and Mysteria, “First, I want to say that I’m sorry that I didn’t welcome you and the other newcomers very warmly when you first arrived. But now I realize that your coming may be very fortuitous, if you are willing to help. Will you help us?” Before they could answer, Gwalchmai looked around the whole room and continued, “Second, does anyone have any suggestions on special preparations we could make prior to the Dusk Ritual?”

"Well, I'm not sure exactly what we can do to prepare ourselves. A long time ago we tried to think of what harmed the Abomination and we thought fire, is that still the case? Actually, at this point does anyone remember where the Simbul got to? She was supposed to help us! Sheesh, these freeloaders! Our best option is to prepare for attacks against disease and rot. All of that poison and disease on the Abomination will harm us more than hider it so we've got to find a way to deal with it. Not only that, but we also have to find out if the Shadow Master will have any shadowy pets for us to dispatch. Could Jerren help us with that?"

Nippy looked to Dragon Wench and an empty flame burned within her eyes. Like the dying embers of a fire there was no life in her and she didn't even hear Nippy speak...

"Dragon Wench, DW, are you ok? Whats the matter?"

"Noth... Nothing..." Her voice came out as a hoarse whisper, nothing like her usual self. Nippy walked over to her and rubbed her on the shoulder.

"Ok, if you want to speak, just let me know..." He smiled and went over to the table, getting a drink of water as he went.

"Umm... Vivien, any idea how long that thing will be with us for?"

"Who? Oh! You mean Flamey! I don't know! As long as he wants, I never remember!" She flashed her smile again and Nippy grinned back.

Yshania's revelry was interrupted as Flamey lumbered passed...a little too close. She jumped and examined the blackened singed hairs on her arm before shaking her head...she would have a quiet word with Viv about handling summons...maybe she could teach her a few druid tricks? ...her control over her elemental friend did appear to waver - was her concentration flitting?...Yshania wondered at a mage summoning...should the concentration lapse completely - would the elemental berserk? She sighed hoping not and trudged off to catch them up.

Entering the kitchen, she snatched a bottle of wine from the cupboard and shamelessly poured the largest mug. She noticed the silence descend, and cringed before offering the bottle around....she knew she should be questioning the wisdom of her actions...but a strange mixture of apprehension towards the dusk ritual - and elation from their noontide encounter - lingered...begging temperance....she winked at Dragon Wench and retired to a corner in only a very mildly embarrassed silence...

At Gwalchmai's question, she raised her hand...knowing from his expression that her selfish act with the wine had hardly rendered her invisible...

She observed the interchange between Nippy and Dragon Wench...she couldn't quite catch what had been said, since his tone was low and respectful...she studied Dragon Wench's expression and gauged from this what had been exchanged.....

She thoughtfully sipped from her mug.....

“I’m betting the Simbul will show up when ever she wants to.” Gwalchmai said to Nippy.

He stood in silence for a moment, contemplating. “You, know,” he said to no one in particular, “as I have conducted the rituals, the beasts sent against us have been initially focused on me to disrupt the ritual. If there was some way to protect me from interruption, then the rest of you could focus on the enemy instead of having to defend me.” He thought about it a little more, wracking his brain. “How does that Otul…. Otuluk’s…. that guy’s Resilient Sphere spell work? It can encase an enemy, but would it encase a friend? Would I still be able to do the ritual within it? What outside forces would break it? Just a thought…”

BS shrugged off Gwally's apology. He didn't really feel it necesary and the words made him feel a bit uncomfortable. He hadn't had much interactions with people in his past, and wasn't sure how to gracefully handle the remark.

"I am more than willing to help in whatever way I can. though I will say that I am not much of a hand with a bow, so don't depend on me for long distance cover" he said

He looked around the room, seeing that most of the group seemed to be present, but wondered idly what had become of Aegis and Maharlika. He shook off his thoughts and figured that they would show up soon enough.

He leaned back in the chair with his drink and listened to the talk. It seemed there were things to plan for, and as he had until today never worked as part of a group, he guessed it would be best for the others to work out the course of action. He would do what was required of him.

Gwalchmai was grateful for Bloodstalker’s offer of assistance. He was about to say something to that effect, when his train of thought was interrupted. Yshania sipped loudly from an unnaturally large flagon of wine. He narrowed his eyes at her.

T'lainya raised an eyebrow at Yshania. She calmly walked over to Ysh and helped herself to a glass of wine. She glanced around thoughtfully, working out how to explain what she thought was occurring.

Ysh stopped mid slurp...wondering at Gwally's interest...hmmm? Was she supposed to have offered some mote of wisdom? Clearing her throat she stammered:

'Well surely, Gwalchmai, if your stance is not an offensive one...' she paused glancing around 'could not a simple Improved Invisibility spell...or even a regularly tossed handful of Pixie Dust help?' she almost blushed.... (: D )

"Invisibility, eh? I hadn't thought of that." Gwally hadn't spent a lot of time being invisible in his life.

BS listened to the talk going on, and felt slightly lost. The exchange between Gwally and Yshania interested him, and looking at Ysh, he thought she seemed familiar. Why was that? He was sure he had never met her before, then it hit him, her embarrassed demeanour, sitting in the corner, she reminded him at that moment of a doe.....

he shook the thought out of his head and went back to his drink. :D

Dragon Wench had been considering the gratifying moment during which she had managed to impale the Illithiad on her sword. Her feelings of satisfaction at this bloody victory, however, were mingled with inner sadness as she reflected on Jerren’s departure and the profound loss that continued to gnaw upon her heart.

Dimly, she realised that Nippy had spoken to her, and was rubbing her shoulder in a comforting gesture. Somewhat weakly, Dragon Wench smiled at him and with some effort she focused on his question. When she realised what was being asked she sighed inwardly and instinctively got up to move towards the door, but then remembered that Yshania was likely the only person in the room who was aware of Jerren’s sudden absence.

Seating herself once more, she stared down at her hands and searched for words that would explain the situation. Yet, as her mind struggled to make sense of the events that were still so very recent, she realised that it was nearly impossible to tell the others about Jerren’s leap into the void because she scarcely understood it herself.

Finally, her gaze met Nippy’s and then she looked around at everyone else assembled in the kitchen. Despite herself, she noted with some amusement that Yshania had, not surprisingly, once again found her way into the nearest wine barrel and that T’Lainya appeared to be close on her heels. (: D)

After a moment she spoke, her voice emerging as a muted whisper against the flicker of lanterns and firelight.

“Jerren had to leave,” she said haltingly. “I don’t know when he will be back, or even…….if he ever will be.” Then, suppressing a choked sob, Dragon Wench fled into the dying rays of wintry afternoon sunlight, and wondered if she would ever see her lover again…wondered if that shadowed void would ever release him from the dark torment that had become his existence.

Gwalchmai watched as Dragon Wench bolted out the door – an increasingly common action on her part these days. He thought he should go after her, but suspected that she needed to work through things herself and seek her own balance.

Turning, he saw Mysteria. Her posture was strange, closed, and she would not meet anyone’s eyes. She looked like she was trying to be invisible or to shrink into herself, both would have been possible given the wild magic that followed her. “What could be her problem?” he thought to himself, “She was perfectly fine a minute ago.” Then he realized that she had appeared this way ever since Bloodstalker had volunteered his aid in the coming battle. Was she feeling left out somehow even though Gwalchmai’s request for help had obviously been addressed to her as well? “Does she need an engraved invitation?” Gwalchmia sighed, recognizing the neediness and anxiety of youth.

“Mysteria,” he said directly to her, “How about you? Would you help defend us during the Dusk Ritual? It will take place on the western tower of the keep, and I suspect a good archer will be greatly appreciated. You need not fear your wild magic in this situation. I have often found that unpredictability in battle can be the deciding factor.”

“Or would you rather just stay here and eat free pancakes?” he added with a grin.

Aegis had seperated himself from te main group in the kitchen. He was still sore from his encounter with the drow, and was "licking" his wounds, per say. He leaned against the wall, watching the main group, discuss the defense of the dusk ritual. He remained out of the conversation, until he heard mention of need an archer. He pushed himself off the wall, and walked over to Gwally and Mysteria.

"I'll do it." Aegis said, causing both Dark Flames to turn around. "I suspect that none here can match my skill with the bow, not to sound condescending." Both Gwally and Mysteria nodded, conceding the point. "Also, if it's my wounds your worried about, they won't bother me in the conflict."

"Alright then," replied Gwally, pleased he had another person to assist in the battle that would more than likely ensue during this final ritual. "I'll show you to the tower. From there, you can find whatever spot you think may be best."

Aegis nodded.

Flip and turn ... flip and turn. Mysteria concentrated on making her pancakes while the others entered the kitchen. Finally, she grabbed some of her pancakes and leaned onto a wall. Slowly, some of the tension went out of her. Apparently none of those who had been in the clearing resented her last magical outburst and she was glad for it.

As Gwalchmai looked around, checking who was there, she surprised herself by saying "Me too!", but quickly shut her mouth again. She still didn't want to draw too much attention nd she continued chewing the last bit of her pancake.

"Will you help us?", Gwalchmai asked and Mysteria almost choked on her pancake. This was unexpected, though she should have foreseen it.

Help them ... surely she wanted to help them but ... She swallowing her last bite, she now bit he lower lip. She felt her magic trickling back, she wouldn't be able to garantee that she could keep it under control in the battle. Lost in her thought, she barely noticed Dragon Wench storming out of the kitchen.

Briefly, she considered to just disappear for the duration of it, but she saw no way to leave the room without anybody noticing. If she could just be sure that they wouldn't mind having her around at the battle ...

Gwalchmai's voice intruded upon her ruminations, her mind instanly focused on the " You need not fear your wild magic in this situation. I have often found that unpredictability in battle can be the deciding factor.", the little joke at the end barely registered.

Did he really mean this? Would they really like to have her around? She looked at him, but saw only sincereness there. Could they?

Aegis's intervention gave her the time she needed to get a grip on herself. As Gwalchmai turned once more to her, she told him, with a tentative smile, "Yes, I will help."

Lightly touching her bow and the sword at her side, she added "Though I'd rather rely on these than on ... you know." she gestured vaguely.

To Aegis, she added, "I might not be as good an archer as you are, but my arrows will find their mark."

At that moment, Fang nuzzled her hand and she smiled "Well, I think here's another one who'll do his best to help. We're ready to go when you are." she told them, her mind set. She would fight and fight well.
