Hi Aqua chan! Nice to meet you. Come over to SYM and hang out with us.

**perks up a little from her state of shyness** I can come? Really? All right! Um...Wow. This has been going on for a long time, hasn't it? Not to sound completely incapable or anything, but can anyone provide me a link to the most recent board and how things work there? It looks like it's all become a story, and I'd love to get into it if possible. You'll learn, I'm a great RP/fiction writer! :D

This is the link to the present section of our story :)
http://www.gamebanshee.com/forums/showt ... adid=11223

The other link I posted will show you the first page of our discussion thread where we discuss tactics, plan where we are going and socialize.... ;) On that page are links to the other parts of the DF saga :)

We stay on contact through things like the discussion thread and private messages :) Some of the writing is quite spontaneous, but anything that significantly affects plot tends to be discussed. It would be great to see you around ! We do ask people that they, at the minimum, read all of the present section of the story before introducing their character, just so they have a sense of character interactions, plotlines and so forth ;) Hope that you can make it over ! :)

Hi Vivien,

I agree with most of what you wrote. I to finish TOB with all three, in fact my first time through I had both Aerie and Anomen. I never did romance him.

Anomen is an excellent tank his starting strength is great and with the draw on holy might he rocks. You only really need the enhancement for certain battles so he has plenty to last him. The down side is not so much him more a design issue. The programers put in alot of healing items that are easy to get early. That makes the need for only one cleric and not even a full time cleric either.

Now if I was into tanking he would be the choice. However, I push my parties towards magic. I like to have four mages 2 full-time and 2 part-time. That is why Aerie is a natural fit for me. She can't tank and I do not want her to. Hence, I have no use for Anomen, but he is not useless. :)

Thanks

I also agree,
a nice tank with CF, FoA, and a good sling.
And his cleric spells alway come in handy.

highlite for amaonem-quest spoiler
If he fails his quest he sux, but when he makes it his 16 wisdom is realy a great add-on to his character.

Just to confirm what is expected of me, I have read most of the posts in the Harem Tent (and almost died laughing on several accounts!), quite a bit of the begging of The Order of the Dark Flame and the general main idea of it, every other page-or-so of The Order of the Dark Flame: The Adventures Continue, and am currently on page 3 (of 62...*faint*) of Book Five. Soa....I guess I'll stop this spamming. Okaybyebyenow.

EXTREMELY MINOR SPOILERS (Are they even spoilers?)

I have to admit that I too am a great Anomen fan. When I first met him back in the day when I was still new to SoA, my first impressions (despite his bragging) were good...he kind of reminded me of what a teen like me is like (trying to prove that he's a real man, not a kid anymore) and that fellowship kinda got me stuck with him. When I met his father I really did feel sorry for the guy, and I kinda made it a point to set things as right as I could. After that mess was sort of sorted out, and he got his knighthood, and after his wisdom went up I kind of recognized that not only as a statistic, but a characteristic, his arrogance was gone, and it was replaced by a sort of confidence (and why not? he's a good back-up fighter and the best good aligned cleric), sort of like getting your driver's license; a badge of leaving behind childhood for good. And when Irenicus fell to me for the first time, Anomen was at my side, my trusted companion, my best friend out of all those great people (Minsc, Imoen, Nalia, Valygar). I find it hard to go through a game without him because he's a story in himself, and probably the most underrated NPC in the game. Don't let his bragging turn you off, at heart he's just another guy who wants to leave the world with a mark. I can see why Black Isle made him the guy the girls get to romance. He's like your best friend at high school.

Enough with this storytelling, what I'm trying to say is: ANOMEN ROCKS! Glad to see I'm not the only one with that opinion.

I do not like Anomen. However he's a good tank and has the best Turn Undead ability so he always ends up in most of my good-aligned parties. Pity he can't get any fighter high level abilities

@Aqua-Chan-Yeah, come on over to SYM. The more the merrier, as they say.

I agree completely The Z. If you do approach his story seriously, you can't help but have some compassion for the character. I thought his side stories were a great addition to my overall playing. My girl was actually a cleric so Anomen for me was a melee and back up cleric and we did just fine. I still wish they would have made a slightly different character file for after the test with some new selection speeches. But then, we all have flaws in our character. He wouldn't be the first person to struggle with insecurity or overcompensating for it.

(Sorry for the lateness...I tend to forget the SOA board exists) :D

I completely agree with 'Z' :) Like Minsc, Anomen has a very real personality that I find it difficult to go without. (But I do, as a girl's gotta play with the bad boys every now and then) ;)

Island: Okay, we're good then. :)

Best? I thought that was partially conditioned by level. Since Anomen is a fighter/cleric, he'd gain levels slower than Viconia, who is a pure cleric. Her ability to destroy or control undead is supreme in BG2, in so far as I can tell.

Isn't Anomen dualled to cleric, not multi-class (sorry, don't mean to sound like a know-it-all)?

That is correct. And the amount of XPs spent in his Fighter class is negligible. I agree with Anomen being a better undead turner as he blows them to pieces while Vic only takes control of them - since you need to kill them anyway to get the XPs, that just takes longer time.

But, you get to use 'em against other undead, which is fun, earns you experience, and saves expending spells and/or health in killing more of the things. :)

True, but two of the most memorable experiences I have with BG2 has involved Anomen "chunking" undead with his Turn Undead skill and Sanctuary. It's more satisfying also. ;)
I sent in Anomen with Turn Undead on to meet Van Goethe and wiped out the lich as soon as he appeared, before he even had a chance to speak. I had to reload, but it was pretty  -worthy all the same.
The other one was in the Unseeing Eye, with the undead section. I had him cast Sactuary and he wiped out the entire section without getting hit once, using Turn Undead alone. It was very cool.

With Anomen, there are no other undead to send the undead against. :D And no spells are needed either, simply activate the Turn Undead ability and let the others stand back.

I LIKE anomen, though possibly for different reasons than most

I like to take an evil party and while anomen gives the "bad guys" a lot of stick, he hasnt got much in the sack when it comes to stepping out of the party and learning someone (he is kind of a mooncy Keldorn.. ahh Keldorn, even evil ppl must respect the amount of butt you kick)

The reason for me liking anomen.......... He can be corrupted!!!

Unlike Viccy and Sarevok becoming good, Anomen is score 1 for the evil guys, dunno but I feel as though my evil work is truly done for the day when I have wrested a loyal knighling over from the side of right even if he does only become chaotic neutral

Btw.. on the subject of romances and the like, does no one romance viconia with an evil char? Its better methinks, the tob dialogues rule for an evil char

OoOoOo. Looks like we've started that famous debate up again:

Anomen vs. Viconia

It's been happening for a LONG time, but I think I'll put my imput back in again. :D

In MY OPINION (Emphasized there) Anomen is the best Cleric in the game, even over Aerie. On top of that he is a front-line fighter that is pretty kick-butt with the Mace of Distruption and Crom Faeyr. Here, I even got his and Earie's stat pages up for my dinky fansite, and am still working on the others. Here-

Anomen - http://www.geocities.com/little_tiki_tia/Anomen.html
Aerie - http://www.geocities.com/little_tiki_tia/Aerie.html

But I'm naturally a huge Anomen fan (He always gets completely shafted...) so that may effect my opinion somewhat. :)

And yes. His Turn Undead ROCKS! In Firkraags Lair, stick him with the Amulet of Power and Turn Undead, throw him into the room of Mummies and Vampires and the way is clear.

Personally, I always kill Anomen on sight.

I prefer viconia as a cleric. I find I have much more in common whith her. :D

In terms of personality and as a character I prefer Viconia, but Anomen's melee skills and his Turn Undead's ability to chunk enemies makes him a useful character.
On the other hand, give Viconia the Cloak of Balduran and the Amulet of 10% magic resistance and she gets 100% magic resistance, so they're both extremely useful.
However, as Aqua-chan so rightly points out in her link to her page, Anomen is annoying if you are a male character, and doubly so if you are a male IRL. Thankfully he shuts up after passing his test, otherwise I would have been without a cleric other than Aerie for my archer.
I did make a female paladin to try out the romance once to see what sort of deal female players get with romances, but he was so irritating I made her kill him and then wiped the game. I reached the conclusion that ladies really got ripped off in terms of romances in BG2.
Once I've done the Tashia romance I'll see what the makers of Kelsey have come up with. So far the character seems pretty cool, but my protagonist is a male so I can't tell about the romance.

@Aqua-Chan-Try having Anomen cast Sanctuary and then have him Turn Undead in that room-he doesn't get hit once and not one vampire gets out alive.

I absolutely agree :)
Ano's the best cleric in the game.. you might say Vicky's a better cleric, and I agree, but Ano has got nicer thaco and attacks per round (thaco -9, APR 2 at the end of ToB!!)
He's actually a really good person, given the circumstances in which he grew up. Most guys growing up in that kinda environment turn into bandits and gangsters :P .
Also if you play jan and Ano together, you get some *seriously* amusing dialogue. (Ano the bulldung-seeking Orc!)
