Weasel,
when the eyes are centered on your avatar, I get really frightened. It's almost like he's gazing into my soul but I already sold it to someone else who looks just like your avatar.

Whatever you paid for Gates' soul, you got jipped. He sold it long ago, repeatedly.

I remember that episode. "It's always the one you least expect, isn't it?"
That and "Mmm, sacrilicious..." are two of my classic Simpsons moments.

I, myself, have several favorite simpson's moment, but alas, my opinion is heavily biased. wow three days since anyone's been here. It always seems like I kill the taverns, I'm always the last to leave. Mind you, I kill the taverns, it is sleep who boards them up.

It was a good series tyb, even friday's game where the twinkies eked it out.
Can't wait for the series this weekend at the metrodome. going to all three games. Looks like pedro and lowe will pitch this weekend.
They got smoxed by the M's last night and all the bad guys were in the winner's column. Will they ever make up any ground. Kind of sad that a team statistically leading the majors in so many categories in hitting and pitching is in danger of not making the playoffs.
OH well, typical Sox.
btw, BUMP!

Typical sox, indeed
Every year, same old, same old. It seems the new management, new coaches, and new ownership didnt really make any difference, because its the same old luck.
Did you hear? They set a strike date if things cant get negotiated-its August 30th.
![Frown :(](./images/smilies/)
A strike will send baseball backwards 15 years. I dont think baseball can afford 2 strikes in 10 years. I think what saved baseball was Mark Maguire and Sammy Sosa in their run for homeruns. That brought the fans back, and has been as popular since, but a strike would make the fans leave again. Nothing good can really come out of this strike. And what in the world do the players want. I mean they say theyre trying their best to accomidate the fans in this situation. Thats BS (not bloodstalker
![Big Grin :D](./images/smilies/)
) because if they truly cared about the fans, then they wouldnt strike at all. Theyve gotten extremely rich through entertainment and a fun game to play. What more do they want?

The players don't want to see a salary cap. Right now the free agency market in baseball is insane. The players are holding all the cards yet continue to tell the owners to 'go fish'.
If they strike I will never watch MLB again. Of course, neither will anyone else because the league will fold. A new league would probably emerge in 2004, and would probably be a world league of sorts; eventually giving the world series its' rightful name.
What baseball needs to realize is that it is no longer america's pasttime. It has been replaced with football. The bulk of today's youthful sports fans will argue that baseball is too slow and is directly related to the short attention spans evident in a majority of folks today. Society today wants the quick fix and football provides that.
Furthermore, if they strike, do you think the owners really care. It's the players who will wind up out of work. How many of today's baseball owners put their team as their top priority or main source of income. Not many, although owning a sports team carries with it quite a bit of prestige and will open many doors of opportunity. However, most of these owners are locked already in other oppotunities. If they should sell off or chapter 11 a team, it won't matter to the owners because they're rooted in so many places.
It's the players who can now have fun working behind a desk making 1/100th of their former salary.

*She wanders in and sighs at all the grafitti - she has a good idea of who would be responsible. She checks the poll on the bar, has a quick look around then heads for the fridge. She notices it is pretty empty and decides against a stock re-order.
She heads for the door, knowing the fate of this place will be decided by Monday night*

Let us spam this thread until it's doors are finally closed - or disappeared - tomorrow. Maybe we can get it up to 4.5K

Best not utter those words.

As for Sleep being quiet, is that suppose to be a good thing or a bad thing
EDIT- One can't expect a mod to be tired, he has to be ever vigilant and all that.
