*Picks a crate from the truck and begins opening a can with one hand while catching Tybs beer with the other.

Impressive, huh...... :D

Umm, interresting: yes, but also extremely scary at times....

Hey see y'all later. We've had our first cool front of the year and the temp has actually dropped in to the 70's this evening. Think going to go outside and enjoy it for a while. Later

Thatll be up to you. I mean Flibbs, Bloodmist and Beowulf have all stepped out of the lurking role too. :D

@Tyb: Yes I think I should post more but I`m using a 56K modem and usually by the time I`ve read through the posts it starts to get expensive since I`m currently unemployed :(

Now I see how some of you got so many posts with all the hellos and goodbyes :D :D

I think this is the first time I`ve posted 3 times at the same day ever.

That tough, oki. :( At least you got the internet, though, and you can afford to stick around. Are you looking hard for employment? If so, out of curiousity, what are you interested in?

Yeah, thats like 100-150 posts right there for me-saying hello/goodbye/anyone here posts. :D

Keep it up, oki. Youre setting personal records today! :D  ;)

Well, I`m a prosess operator if that explains it. Currently I`m applying for jobs on oil rigs in the North Sea.
Other than that I`m also looking for jobs at warehouses.

Im totally unexperienced when dealing with looking for jobs. Im only a college student, so the troubles and toils of searching for a full time job has not reached me yet.

Would working in such places make you happy?

The offshore jobs would be perfect for me. It`s something I`ve always wanted to do. The pay is good and the work cycle is great: 2 weeks on, 4 weeks off. :D
And the best thing about being a operator is the fact that the less you do the better you`re doing your job :D

The warehouse is something I could do for a while just to earn some money

Well I wish you lots of luck at getting the offshore job. Its something Ive never really looked at. I think being that secluded from land would be slightly unnerving, but if you like it, GO FOR IT! You should like your job first, then think of the money second-in a perfect world, this is how it would be, though I know thats not often the case.... :( But the free time off sounds real good.

Would it be treacherous at all? I know it can be tough out on the offshore platforms in bad weather.

Yes I agree that you must enjoy your work and then think of money.
That`s one of the reasons I quit my last job. The place was great but I diden`t get along with some of the people working there. Add to that the fact that I wanted to get more education (something like technical college) and I left them behind me.
It`s all cool

I don`t think it`s very dangerous but there has been some accidents earlier. Try searching for the "Alexander Kielland accident" or "Piper Alpha". That`s the worst things to happen in the North Sea. But now the safety is good and there are lifeboats they use if there are any signs of danger.

Yes. Chemistry with the employees is such a big deal when thinking about the perfect job aswell. You have to get along with them in order to be happy.

I will definetly look into those. Im not sure if you read any of my posts where I have said I had a distinct interest in disasters or shipwrecks or even just history. So learning about those two might peak my interest.

Yes now I remember. You like history.

Well on those two the most gruesome was Piper Alpha where the entire rig burned down, but if I remember correctly Kielland was worse in terms of human losses. 123 people died there, I think :(

Oh.....I think I remember reading about this somewhere at some time. Yeah. That can be tough. And unpredictable. But everything people do theres some sort of potential danger that can occur.

Is it looking positive whether theyre going to allow you to work there?

There is always danger. You could slip while getting out of bead and break your neck, but it`s just a matter of thinking safety first.
If everybody did that there would be less accidents.

So far I`ve tried 20-25 different companies but they don`t need people right now  :(
But one must keep the spirit up and try again.

What's this? The greatest lurker of all time has come to our little corner of SYM, and has posted not once, but eight times!!! This, surely is another sign of the impending apocalypse.

Gidday Tyb and Oki, hows things?

GDay Fibble.

Apocalyse. What. Where. Tell me so I can be in the middle of it :p :D

Things are very good here. Me and Tyb are discussing work and drinking beer.

Now we should have spanned the most of the globe
One from New Zealand
One from Norway

Yeah. Just keep trying. Im sure eventually something will open up. Persistance usually gets you places when paired with patience.

I remember you saying that you went for further education. Have you completed the education you saught after?

@Flibbs Youre right  so many strange happenings at SYM lately.... ;) :D Things proceed smoothly. EXCEPT the stupid radio station decided to cancel their usual Friday 80's night. Usually they air 5 hours of 80's music and I always tune in, but they cancelled it tonight.

Well there have been some strange happenings that have been observed recently at SYM. Things like women hitting on me. BS not showing up for drinks at SYM every night and lurkers coming out of the shadows. HLD with a one-word post. Not to mention a change of mods. Those are the only signs I remember, but Im sure there were others observed..... :D

Yep. Going global on SYM is cool. I love talking to people from different countries.

There have been many strange events occuring here lately. Many of us believe it has to do with either an approaching doom for all mankind or Weasel is responsible. Actually I think they're the same thing. :D

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with the job hunting. Keep at it, there's something out there.

@Tyb, the rotten &%$#@$#%^&*! I'm an 80's music fan too (not as much as you though) and I too would be annoyed.
