Guilds
Congrats Mikeheitz
Welcome to all the new people
Now what's the next order of business??
The guild leaders have been chosen (I need to read more often)...next would be selecting classes?
(What about the dual/muilt class one's...will they be following their first pick to decide what class to be put in? )

@Weasle - do you mean "ranks"??
As for multi/dual - there is apparently a big difference from 2.ed to 3.ed rules - and unfortunally I've not been able to find much info (yet) but as it seems one decides wich class one want to progress in, so it seems that dual-class as we know it is a thing of the past.
I was just going over the roster - we have a total of 7 rogues

So will the first class you start with determine your class/rank (?? from above)Originally posted by Xandax:

I would say that the class people will want to advance most in should be the wing they join, and if they plan on advancing equally in both, I'd say it would still be up the the character in question (IMO)Originally posted by Weasel:

I was thinking about that as well, Nippy. I am going to love playing as a Mage, but I also want to try some of the other classes.Originally posted by Nippy:

Yes I agree....I have from the first decided I would try to make up for any short slots by taking a class if need be.Originally posted by mikeheitz:

Aegis,
I'll have to see what I can do. I was thinking along the lines of a dedicated machine, but I don't have a static IP address. Not sure if that will be a problem or not. If I had a monster machine like you described, that sure as heLL wouldn't be my server!!!
That'd me my serious gaming toy!!!

As for extra character - I think we could allow people to create an extra character (so some has 2) in the instrest of the guild. Say if some people like to try playing a cleric and they've made a rogue or the other way around.
So we could get more clerics for instance.
But I also think that if Nippy(sorry I'm just using you as an exampel) creates a fighter, that character would have to take a low rank like the others fighters, and work his way up through the rank, and that would say that while Nippy is in character with the figther, that he could be "commanded" by Aegis as guild-leader of that wing.
This is were the RP comes in, and when people must seperate characters from each other.

Xandax, I agree. If I am head of a wing, I would think that my other character's shouldn't be allowed to advance past a certain rank. Not that it's a hard limit, but I am assuming we'll mostly be using these extra characters as "cannon fodder", in a sense.
Nippy, I was planning on buying a new system this winter anyways since my main rig is a PIII 550. Time to get some new stuff. BUT, My 550 can be upgraded to probably a PIII 800 or so, and already has 256 RAM which I can upgrade to half a gig, I think. I also am getting a PIII 500 from work which I am not sure what I will do with. I was considering putting Linux on it, and I thought I read somewhere that NWN was going to ship with PC, Mac, and Linux versions all boxed together. Not sure if that is the case or not, but I could theoretically host games on a Linux box as well.

@mikeheitz: don't run out and purchase a lot of hardware, just so you'd be able to host guild-worlds/persistant-worlds, at least wait untill we have a cleare view of what is neasecary to play/host.
I would be stoopid to upgrade you PIII 500 -> a 800 just for a hosting machine if the PIII 500 runs just as good (If you can follow me)

@ Mike I have a 350 and that is severly sloooowwwww. However I am also planning to upgrade. I have two options as far as I can see.
1. Dell are doing refurbished systems and for a system around 1 Ghz it would cost nearly £650. These are Intel machines.
2. A local company are offering 1.2 Ghz rig for £710 or 1.3 rig for £725. These are Athlon rigs.
Generally Athlons are considered faster at the same Mhz aren't they?
For option 2, I have not looked at the little details but the RAM for it was 64. I could upgrade for £10 to 128. I could remove 128 from my current machine (I have 128) and whack it in. Monitors from option 2 are ok. £25 for a 17" VDU. The graphics card are awful (I am going to rip it out and whack in my TnT 2) and the hard drive is awful (10.2 gb). What do you think? Price wise 2 is good due to the Machine spec and RAM and hertz for my buck as it is called.

Concerning hardware... I have a friend that MIGHT be able to "acquire" a Dell 1GHZ machine for me.
That's an option. I am planning on buying a new PC when I get my year end bonus. Probably a DEll in the 1.5 Ghz range, or a custom built Intel machine. Athlon's CPU speed is supposed to be better, but I have seen a lot of problems getting components to work together with a lot of Athlon motherboards. I'm sticking with Intel and a good quality Motherboard, as they've never let me down.
The way I figure it is that assuming I get a monster system this winter, whatever i use these other machines for is basically icing on the cake. And by this winter, a PIII 800 CPU will be $125 or so at most. Not too much of a dent in the wallet. Now, if I can use my main system as a hosting machine as well as playing at the same time, then maybe I'll do that. Won't know for sure until the game comes out and we see what it can actually do.
