Regarding Avatar: The Game, I'd probably get it when it drops to bargain bin price or borrow it from a friend. As I said previously, the gameplay based on the demo is average at best.

Anyway, I am currently playing Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2 and still playing GTA IV. Regarding the former, I can't believe that IW ditched the lean keys and made the FOV a little small (just think of it like the camera kissing the shoulder butt of the rifle).

As much as I have no issue with regenerating health, the blood splatter effect that replaced the 'red borders' can obscure your view. Really bad if you happen to be behind a gun turret. Don't plan on playing multiplayer as bad experiences playing Battlefield 2 online is a testament to that.

Overall, I am enjoying this game and it retains most of what made the original good. It's just that some of the design decisions mentioned above (and also the removal of dedicated servers) does make me wonder where IW is going with this game.

I'm playing Privateer 2 at the moment. The original Dos version through DosBox

Also, got a bit interest to oldies again, so dug up some other games besides Privateer 2; Resident Evil 2, Capitalism 2, Dreamfall: The Longest Journey and legendary SimCity 2000.

Of course, besides those, I'm playing DA:O with my XBox. The problem is, I haven't been much home lately, excluding when sleeping, so had to stay on computer games mostly.

Diablo 2. I sort of let the craze pass me at the time because I was too busy studying and *cough* playing Unreal Tournament with friends.

I think I'm liking this better than the few MMO's I've played.

My biggest problem is that Privateer on DosBox is really laggy because I'm using an 8 year old PC to run the emulation (and it clearly doesn't have the juice to get it done without a few hiccups).

I love Dreamfall. It might've been the best game I ever played on the Xbox. I'm a little sad that it doesn't seem that they're going to complete the story though...

I am playing Dragon Age: Origins right now, its an awesome game but I am really frustrated with it

I started the battle at redcliffe too early, I am only level 6 and I now realize that I missed a bunch of quests and am too weak to complete this battle

Guess I gotta start over again.

Just finished the first playthrough of Dragon Age....have an on-going game of Fallout 3, and last night got Assassin's Creed II

Borderlands is my fixation at the moment. Can only bring myself to play it while co-oping with my friends, though. The single player mode leaves a lot to be desired. Gets a bit dull and way too easy when you're by yourself.

Otherwise, I alternate it out with Dragon Age: Origins and Lego StarWars.

You're right AC.....I've played Borderlands on the son-in-laws PS3..
and yes, both of us were bored after a few hours of play...same ole stuff, over and over....although I've never tried the co-op on it. I prefer my Co-op on Xbox.

Planescape Torment, though I'm just piddling around a bit in The Hive, poking thugs in the eyes. I play it maybe half an hour every day.

I'm also replaying an old strategy game called Battlezone 2. It is almost ten years since the game went gold, but the patching community is busier than ever. Fans have enhanced the game engine with all kinds of DirectX 9.0 goodies, I was quite surprised to see them active after such a long time.

I will also be playing the fan made sequel Forgotten Enemies again at some point, but probably not before the big move next week. Or something else that popped up while I was gone from the scene.

Well, if you were somebody who hadn't played the game yet, I would probably advise you to just borrow or rent it, yes. Every single quest is an errand run (Go there, kill that, come back) -- very reminiscent of WoW to me. The art style is a plus, but that doesn't compensate for the utter lack of interesting elements.

Since you do have the game, though, I'd definitely say give it a try doing co-op if you can. Enemies get tougher, more numerous, and it requires team playing to get through. There are, in my experience, few multiplayer games out there that require tactical strategics to succeed. Just too many campaigns are easily accomplished by the "Go in, blast it to bits" approach.

If you ever happen to come by Borderlands on Xbox, give me a shout and I'll add you on Live -- I'll show you what I mean.

Assassin's Creed 2, Diablo 2, Midieval 2

Assassin's Creed 2 is fun so far, even better then the first. I'm trying Diablo on multiplayer and it's pretty fun. A friend to mine installed Midieval, and I'm fairly decient, so it's alright.

Dull, yes, but regarding if it's easy or not, it depends. Fighting small game is easy. The boss fights, on the other hand, can be downright difficult and tiresome. It was just dumb luck that I managed to kill one of them after 5 tries.

Anyway, I gave Dragon Age a go after some friend of mine gave it to me as a birthday present a month ago. In case you're wondering why I didn't play it sooner is because I was busy and preoccupied with Modern Warfare 2.

Furthermore, I thought that I could get away with boycotting the game for nearly a year. Plan backfired. Looks like one way or another, I'll still end up in that bandwagon.

Sorry, only have it on PS3....

I've finished the first playthrough of Dragon Age....gonna have to play again..

Am enjoying Assassin's Creed II very much so far...only about 1/4 through

as for Co-op play this weekend will be doing Gears 2, there's a special 12 days of Gearsmas going on with tweaks..

Also, Des, how was the Modern Warfare 2 like? Heard lot of mixed opinions, and I think that would be the next new game I'm gonna buy after new year.

). This is what I can sum up based on a week plus of playing it.

Chose a Human Noble male warrior, by the way. Classes are kind of limited and the same can be said of the in-game graphical options. Other options are found outside the game via its config menu.

For a game that is touted to be a 'return to the PC RPG roots,' it seems like Bioware can't be bothered to put in the necessary options in-game. Whoever claims that MW2 have limited graphical options should take a close look at Dragon Age's options. Guess which one is inferior.

Since I didn't try multiplayer, I can't tell, but I am aware of the dedicated server fiasco and Robert Bowling's poor handling of it. Don't make me go and try it out, though. You know how I don't like multiplayer after a few experiences with it in one or two games.

Anyway, single player-wise, the game's length is roughly the same as the first one, so no surprise, but what I can tell you is that the story is darker than the first. Heck, even before you choose any game option, a menu will pop up to ask whether you want to play the controversial chapter ('No Russian' mission where there is killing of civvies) or not.

Graphics are better than the first and the levels are bigger, so you might want to turn them down slightly to get decent performance. Just because you have a mid-range machine that can run the first game well at max settings doesn't mean that it'll work the same in this sequel. I encountered some slight stuttering if I left them at the same settings like those of the first game.

The overall feel of the game is retained here, unlike in FEAR 2, and it feels the same as the first, but with a much bigger budget and more explosions. Lean keys are gone, however. Pity. The game is pretty stable for the most part, but I did encounter a minor bug where your team won't advance if there is no enemy in sight.

There are new guns in the game like the ACR, Vector smg, automatic Glock and SCAR rifle to name a few. More variety in the guns and the existing guns are present, except some weapons that are omitted from it. But the good thing about all of the guns is that they come together with optical sights, be it Russian or NATO guns.

Have moved on to Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. It's a really good third person shooter that is a bit more realistic than the usual shooter and requires a bit more thought as well. However, it is NOT as tactical/realistic as the original Ghost Recon.

Currently still playing Dragon Age - working on my 2nd and 3rd playthrough - however have also bought and am playing The Saboteur right now between my DAO sprints.
Saboteur is quite fun although rather simplistic and not terrible difficult ("Sean" can take quite a bit of punishment before dying ... waaay too much in fact). Great concept, lacks a bit in execution though.
