If you want what is called an official character you will have to make on using the 25 point-buy system or if importing reduce character stats to this level (you will also be reset to level 1)

@mikeheitz: the amd cpu isen't more unstable compared to the intel, and componets work well together. This supposed unstablity comes mainly if using no-name components and with the older K6-2 CPU's.

I've never had problems with my current amd CPU (T-bird 900) and any of my other hardware. (only with Win ME   )
I'd always buy amd over intel especially due to the price difference - but then again, I would never buy ei. a Dell machine - I'm sure their computers are excellent, but I'd rather get faster hardware for the same price.
(IMO)

Well that, and I like to build my own machines :D :D - my current computer I've build on my own.

I normally build my own, but Dell has some sweet deals these days and if I am looking at a 1.5 Ghz machine, and the price difference isn't that much I may bite the bullet and get the DEll. Most of the problems I've seen or read about with AMD's is with cheap boards, generic video cards, etc... so you are right there. I've just never been able to justify switching. Maybe I'll look more into AMD's this winter when I am buying. We'll see how much I have to spend and I'll act accordingly. :)

The problem is that everybody wants to be a rouge and a drow. Thats limiting the variety. We only have one fighter, excluding the paladins, so we could do with some more.
And we defiently need more clerics. I'm just multi class.
I reccomend: (you do not have to follow this):
Dwarven fighter(we need some racial variety. only got 2 halflings and a bunch of elves)
Dwarven/Elven cleric
1 or 2 human clerics
1 or 2 multi class
1 or 2 dual class
Gnomish Wizard(c'mon it would be fun!!!)
Half/Ogre Bezerker(We need an odd one out. It'll make the guild more intersting. I thought a dark elf was unique, but it looks like there going to be more than one, and a half ogre is quite smart, which means it can be an alignment other than evil)

But nobody has to follow this. They're just suggestion for varied interesting guild.
Have fun and make your character interesting. Give them a personality. Like what Weasel's done with his character Sly Ned. The guy's going to quite interesting.

As you say we have weasels' Sly Ned a.k.a. Ned the Knife :D :D

And I'm planning on trying to RP my guy as good as I can.

As for Race, well actually we don't know wether or not Drow will even be playable, and a dark elf - well I don't think that will be much other than an ordinary elf with a dark skin (not a race AFAIK)
We have so far 8 humans, 2 halfling, 2 half-elfs, 3 elfs, 1 drow, 1 dark elf (if these 2 can be played that is :) ) and 3 undecided.

But I still think it will be to soon to figure out if(how many) we need of a specific class. Let's see when more info on NwN hits the mainstream market and see peoples reaction.

BTW Thorin - your guy, wich class do you see yourself advance most in or is it equal for both classes? We need to figure out wich wing to put you in :D

Has anyone played with a Duron yet? They have an FPU (Floating Point Unit) which helps carry out calculations faster therefore faster gameplay. My dad says he me be able to get one but I don't know.

Go for Thunderbirds if possible. Duron is lowerprice AMD CPU's with less chache and other stuff (can't remember)

Out of curiosity: is there any difference? Is there anything you can/cannot get through importing or building an identical character from scratch? Certain skills (seeing as BG2 doesn't have any), Bhaal powers (the Slayer would be a little unbalanced at level 1 :D ), Feats... What happens to your Kit?

Don't forget Bards. They're pretty cool in NWN. They can cast spells dynamically like Sorcerers do, and get healing spells like Clerics and Druids do. This time around, they really are Jacks-of-all-Trades; a combination of Sorcerer, Cleric and Rogue.

Was anyone considering dualling (or multi-ing, since there is no difference anymore)? It's not such a good option for spellcasters (otherwise I'd be sure to get two extra classes :D ), but it's very useful to warriors. A Paladin/Ranger/Fighter packs some solid advantages over a pure Fighter.

It will become a generic character - no kits.
You won't get the skills either.
Again depending on the place you play, you might be able to take stats with you (not a offical vault as mentioned)

The main reason I'd say that people would transfer a character is because you've played with it possible from BG1 and therefore you feel kinda attached to it - I'd imagine like a PnP player would like to recreate his charcter in BG.
(I think so)

I'm still struggeling with finding out how this multiclass system will work - after what I've read the player personally decides what class they want to advance in.

I am a rogue/cleric and so far the only full/partial cleric our guild has.

So am i guild cook?

I'm not going to Multi I just want to advance one character heavily.

Ok guys I've been thinking seriously for once. In the game if we need resurrections you should be able to create an insurance policy (Ned will NOT swindle you, I promise on Paladins honour!). The set amount of gold will be given and then if you die we raise you. Simple. Any other far-fetched thoughts? :D :D

Or if we get clerics high enough in lvl. they can just do it for free :)

I agree but getting to that level will take time no doubt...

Note: I changed my name to Thal'xall from Thax'lall, alright? someone change the web site.

I though the kits weren't going to be part of NWN.

The six rogues may not be a bad thing. Could be a small thief guild. Could hang out in cities and pickpocket things that walk by.
