Hi DW :) I left a message for you on ICQ... ;)

I suspect you were not the company CE expected... :D

@Georgi: In due time, I am sure you will be able to develop a longer consistency of your spells :D I'm looking forward to the multicoloured cloud - perhaps I could request a golden one for myself?

Yes, I'm sure I can convince my prof as long as I offer to lead the project and take all necessary responsibility, including the boring stuff of administration...ethical application, organising the practical things, etc.

Congratulations to the achivement of buying some CD:s :D In case you don't find a job, I hope you bribing strategy works... :D

@DW: Hello, Georgi is right, you are not the company I expected but I'm happy to see you anyway :D

Hi Georgi :) !

sounds as though you are taking special pains with that parental psychology course...... ;)

lol! I'm sure I wasn't the company that CE was expecting..... :D

Has anyone else noticed that the home for the depraved seems most populated during the evening hours.....? :p

@CE...lol :D
how are you doing? :)

Hi @DW, I'm doing fine, another lazy and largely unproductive day :D What about you?

Alas....due to having squandered much time in the last number of months....no relaxed laziness for me ;)
I have spent the last week in the archives...but on a positive note I have found some documents that go a long way to validating my ideas... :)

@DW: Finding data that validates one's ideas is always nice, isn't it? :) I wish it happened to me more often... :D I will have to replay the last two days laziness this weekend - my prof is back Monday, and then we have three days to finalise my current article and plan the new projects, before he's off again. The disadvantage of choosing a big professor as your supervisor, is that their availability is very low...

Hopefully... well, until then, Dottie will just have to have rain when he is around me :D A golden cloud to go with your gold dress? ;) I will see what I can do... :D *conjures a cloud of golden smoke* How is that?

Umm... your prof would trust you to take responsibility for ethical application? :D

Thanks! :D (They were cheap, there was a sale on! ;) ) I also did some shopping for my mum, and while I was in buying CDs I also found her a cheap copy of a video she wanted... :D

That's when we come out to play... :D Have you found more good stuff in the archives today?

@CE...yes it is great....makes you feel that you actually have a brain..... ;) It is also that I tend to be quite intuitive...so when my hunches bear fruit it feels really good :)

Yes...I know that dilemna....you want to chose one of the best because of their expertise and also because it reflects well on your CV....but the time factor can be a problem sometimes... Although my supervisor is generally pretty easy to touch base with......he is incredibly committed to his students. Not always sure this is a good thing :D

@Georgi: Thanks for the golden cloud, I'm sure it will look neat with the dress :D

I hope you don't mind rain, but being a Brit I suppose you don't...not as much as to stay away from Dottie though. Now, where is he? He must be working...or ill ;)

Yep, my prof has let me handle all the ethical applications necessary for my projects...and I've got all of them granted - I wonder how that can be...Image

You really must be a wonderful daugther, if you go on like that, I'm sure you won't need a job :D

@DW: Good to know you have a functional brain :D I know I have one, (seen it on MRI and PET images), but I'm not so sure about the functionality... ;)

I think it sounds great that your supervisor is so devouted to his students, I'm not so sure the same can be said about mine...he focuses a lot on learning people how to think and work as independent scientists, and many people think he focuses on this a bit too early...

@CE...LMAO ! Well you at least have some proof of your intelligence :D

I can see how your prof's approach could be a problem.....To encourage independence is a good thing...but it's nice to have that support occasionally as well. My supervisor is awesome actually.....he has really gone to bat for me in order to obtain funding....and he is very understanding if my personal life conflicts with my academic life.

Oh, I can make it appear just over him, he will just have to be in the same place ;) Not that that's usually a problem... He has usually gone to work by now, hasn't he? ;)

You must be a master (or mistress?) of deception :D

It won't pay off my overdraft though... otherwise, it could work :D

Well, you seem to be doing ok with it... ;)

@DW: Yes, in colour and all :D Or maybe my colleague just pretended the images was of my brain to make me happy :D

Great to hear your supervisor has really made an effort to provide you with funding, at my uni it's very common that the students have to this themselves, it's called "part of the learning process". It's quite funny, my prof pays me monthy salary, but when I started out, I suggested myself I should start to train on writing application and he said "yes, just go ahead, try this one, but you won't get anything from them". So I wrote an application entirely by myself, sent it in - and got most money of all people at the entire lab  :D That money I use for minor personal expenses now, like books, since my prof is against books, he thinks everything that is in a book is already outdated. This is of course true in our field, but hey - a PhD student might need to read up on some basic stuff too :D

@Georgi: I don't think Dottie minds staying at the same place, as long as you are nearby ;) Yes he should be at work now, but he usually pops in here before he goes to work. What if - gasp - he's out with some friends  No, unthinkable, perhaps he's ill. Or dead.

Mistress of deception? Moi? No, I think the ethics committee just likes me :D

What about reshaping your brilliant idea about raising funds for Buck to raising funds for your overdraft? I am sure a pic of you in a bikini would pay off your overdraft in a nanosecond :D

No, I don't have any problems with my profs style of teaching people to become independent, I actually like it. Many other people hate it though, most of those quit quickly but some stay on and suffer because the lab is considered very "prestigious" and he is a very name to have on the CV.

ROFL :D  I think I saw him lurking earlier... maybe he just didn't realise we were here... ;) Dead? :( That will set back your research...

 Maybe I could get money by threatening to post a bikini photo if nobody paid up... ;)

Seeya later DW :)

ROFL :D That strategy would work a lot better for Sleep in velvet speedo's, I assure you :D

Or maybe he did, and decided to play difficult and unpredictable since he saw my comments? :D If you saw him lurking, then he's probably not dead, unless Astafas has bitten him. I was worried for a while since I let my colleuages take of Dottie now when I haven't been at the lab...

I actually don't think it would be physically possible to take a bikini photo (or a photo of Sleep in speedos - any kind! ;) ), because the lens of the camera would crack :D

Bad CE! You scared him away! :D I see you mentioned that you might be able to provide Astafas with a live bite to eat... I hope you weren't thinking of Dottie... ;)

How refreshing. Scheming afoot...mystery abounds...and Sleep in speedos?  :D

A risky business, at best. ;)
