Ysh, the dressing gown of deep night will let you cast a less powerful form of the globe called the globe of sorta shallow dusk which doesn't do you any real good except simulating those conditions when the headlights don't really do much but you still have a hard time seeing as well as you would like.

Thanks Ned. Could another psionic person (Thantor) see through the darkness?
('rightily dightily' - heh heh)

I have a Girdle of Scanticity if she wants it.

Not sure if another psionicist could see through it but could try to disrupt the concentration required to keep the globe stable.
On a side note: Disrupting the globe would be a real bad idea right now for reasons better left unsaid until they are ready to come out in the story. If Thantor were to attempt it, I'd need to win the battle of the minds, at least for now
@BS, you have a girdle. Dude, I'm telling everyone at 'ye olde banshee.'

about the cat-creature-at-end-of-tunnel
OK. Here's how I see it:
We finish the battle with the demon.
Depending on how far you've gotten with the mindflayers & co, we'll give you a hand.
I think we'll gather in the kitchen afterwards to get our bearings, at least some of us, I'd say.
BS might do the post then.
Afterwards, I'd like to go after the cat-creature. I think before the Dusk ritual starts, it's not in-char for Mysteria to delay pursuit so long.
I think I can manage to write in a trap at the end of the tunnel. Then combine the whole think with a teleport portal that may then take us to... ???
I think the portal might take us to some tunnels in or near the Shadow master's lair. We'd investigate them after I and any that have followed me escaped the trap and found the portal.
This would be after the Dusk ritual, which would be finished during our exploration of the tunnels. Or we explore the tunnels, get back, do the Dusk ritual, then go back in the tunnel and through the teleport portal.
From there, we might reach the final battle with the abomination.
About OK? Especially the trap and portal thing? The rest will probably just develop as we post.
Thanks for reading

Hi Teroril
Sure you can join
*looks around for anybody disagreeing*
I think you should try and read some of the story so far.
If you post, don't do too much with other people's characters without their consent.
And try to stay logical (yes , I admit it

.. I like logic

)
If you're a sorcerer, I'll probably have mixed feelings towards you. It's explained somewhere in the thread. I'm a ranger-wild sorcerer and had some bad experiences with fellow sorcerers.
As of what's going on: Bloodstalker, Aegis, Harry, Farscape, some still unknown female mage, Fang (my wolf) and myself are battling a demon in the woods to the east or west of the DF keep.
Most of the others are performing the Noon ritual as known from BGII and battling mindflayers and umberhulks at the south of the keep. This is to weaken the Shadow Master, the "evil guy" of the story.
This SM is building an abomination to bring back an evil god I can't remember the name of right now.
There's some drow involved too.
Hm, I think this should do for the moment.

As Gwalchmai stated at the beginning of this thread.....I would ask that anyone wishing to join our story read this recent "chapter" at the very least...... so that they have an idea of the interpersonal relationships, the dynamic...and plot progression.
The chronicles of the Dark Flames have been something in which a number of us have invested much love and much time, and the story holds a great deal of personal significance........
Please respect this.....

Having just joined I've read about eight pages back, that was enough info for Flanders to make an entrance. If this current battle I've joined concerning the noon time ritual carries through this weekend, I should have the rest of this current chapter read. From there, I'm more than willing to read older 'books' if those knowing can point me in the right place.
That said, I want you all to know that I respect and understand the work that has been put forth into this story. I also agree it is the relationships forged through the evolvement of this tale that allows it to continue so strongly. I intend to learn as much as possible as it will allow to me to contribute significantly in events to come.

Well, there is a link in this thread to downlaod the previous *books* of the DF saga. Makes good reading too.

I think everyone has been writing really well, and Viv, your posts are always a pleasure to read. But I just had to say I
really liked this part! The imagery is great and I love the 'realism' as it pertains to the mage spell. The battle for control - - - wonderful! Something about this passage just tripped my trigger.

Well BS, he is the president of the club for the posting of the naked images.
@Gwally,
that is excellent imagery and an accurate description of the casting of the spell. No wonder my mages are always too chicken S&!^ to summon elementals.

@Ned: I take my presidency seriously!
@Ysh: Careful! BS is going to want a swirling light cloud too pretty soon!

That would be Swirling Light Thingie Gwally...
@Ned, I know the feeling, I never let my mages summon anything except skeletons and such, it always bites me in the end.

@Vivien: WOW!
