I'll admit that Zidane isn't nearly as good in Juve as he is in the French national team....but still at least as good as Figo...
The the magnificent style and handling in high speeds....no one is better than Zidane at that......it's his trademark......

As much as I hate to admit it, I think they're both very similar players as all great midfielders are. I think greatness boils down to one's impact on a team and ability to lead them to greatness and Figo seems to be the best around nowadays at that, that's why he's worth $56 million. Now $54 million for Crespo in Lazio, that's money misspent! And for a star to be a star, he has to excel at play for his club as well as country. That's why FIFA voted Zidane player of the year, but the true pundits, the journalists, voted for Figo (Hell, the journalists in France were the first to proclaim Figo as the best!) Anyhoo, I've always enjoyed watching Zidane play, just as I enjoy any good midfielder, so I'll end my tirade before I say something totally unacceptable to those sore England fans.

Sore England fans??? Actually I'm half English half Swedish. And as I have grown up and lived most of my life in Sweden England is only the "second" team for me.
Being from Portugal and following football you must know who Fredrik Söderström is....plays for Vitoria Guimares....right???

Right now I'm watching 1860 München - Eintracht Frankfurt......pretty good game....for being "Bundesliga".... Image
The score in that game is 2-2 right now....20 seconds remaining of full time....

I'm from Lisbon and Guimaraes is a northen team so I don't follow them well enough to know all their players. But I think any Portuguese would tell you the biggest impact a Swede ever had in Portugal was when Sven Goran Eriksson was coach of Benfica, winning a couple championships and cups. Being a Swede-Englishman, do you approve of Eriksson as coach of England?

Sure I do.....
A lot of the England fans don't agree with having Sven-Göran Eriksson as manager.....
I think he will prove them wrong.....
Just like you said he did a great job with Benfica.....just as he did with Sampdoria and Lazio.....
If he can't shape England up and get them back to winning games....I don't know if anyone can......

Yep, he is right, guimarães is not a stong team, there are three team that are called "os 3 grandes" since they almost have won all chapionships.
Those are FC Porto, Sporting CP and SL Benfica.
Mine is Sporting that have won the last chapionship (1999-2000) after 18 years.

Hey Drakron! Lagarto! Did you forget Belenenses and their one championship!? Hmph I guess you probably did. Oh well. It's alot easier rooting for Benfica or Man Utd. than it is to root for relegation candidates, now isnt it? Bah!

well i'll tell you, the fpf isnt scared to be corrupt and controversial, and i wouldnt doubt it if boavista ever does bribe an official or two. but theyve been pretty damn good so far, playing very intelligently. youre just a bitter sporting fan. hehe. but dont worry man, sporting's still a main contender and it's all very close. hell it's anyone's championship, even belenenses might get lucky, hopefully uefa cup at the least.

I've been Tottenham fan, but recently, I've been supporting West Ham as well. The reason 1.it's my local team (I live near their training ground. Image), and 2.they have beaten Man Utd in FA Cup! Yes, I'm more anti-Man Utd than a fan of another team. Image I just hate them!

BTW, I can talk about quite a lot of sports, really. And I don't like American Football, because it stops every 10 seconds!! That kills off the game! Image I love rugby! Image

Any other sports to talk to, I wonder....?

I remember playing rugby and cricket when I went to school in England.....didn't really see the "fun" in it....probably because I wasnt that good......

My gf just hates sports....she doesn't even know which country won the World Cup in football 1966..(and that's an easy one).
....
Why can't women everywhere be like Minerva???? Image

I cannot say I'm enthusiastic football fan, to be honest, but I love sports (watching, not playing Image)! I rather watch sports than silly dramas/movies.

I like team sports, like rugby, football and Formula 1 (that is a very much a team sport IMO), better than individual ones with exception of snooker and horse racing. Now I even watch cricket, even though I am from baseball country. Image

Hey mate....I know exactly what you mean....my gf refuses to come and watch football and ice-hockey games with me and to tell you the truth I'm happy she doesn't.. Image
She usually goes out with some of her friends while I go out with the lads watching different sports......usually she doesn't even come to watch when I play... Image
Well I don't go and watch her when she does her aerobics and boxercise cr*p......
Needless to say....21:50 every night when the "Sport news of the day" is on I sit and watch it by myself........
What can you say....after all they are "women"...got to love them for that....but sometimes it's annoying that we are so different......a woman with just the slightest interest in sport that would be a dream...... Image

Ohh and nice to see you back Ubik.....there's been something missing around here for the last couple of days.....

btw - Does Ofori-Quaye still play Olympiakos???
