Does armor_arme_lederschienen.dds exist in your ...\drakensang\export\textures\icons\ -folder?

Great. :)

Since this thread has been check +6000 times and most likely 5% of those readers have downloaded the mod, I'd like to hear some feedback.

- Bugs?
- Is the game too easy or too hard?
- Did you find something else to fix?
- Is all the changes actually working?

what is wrong with the installation?

Hello,
I'd like to send any feedback, but I was not able to install the fixmod yet.
It shows me a message:
The patch to ...(directory of the game file static.db4) couldn't be read form the Registry!
To install, please copy all the mod's files and folders to the folder Drakensang/export/db and start 'install-english.bat' again there.
Press any key to continue...

But I copied it into the folder and it didn't work anyway. In addition I have the file Install_Ergo's_Fixpack, not Install-english.bat file in the pack I downloaded. Is it the wrong one? I've got the English version of the game.
Thanks for the answer, I want to play this game once again and I'd be happy to have something new and more challenging in it.

@Ihmisiviha: Terve country man. ;)

Extract the package (v1.70) to anywhere and double click on Install_Ergo's_Fixpack.bat. If there is error and the installer cannot find the your game directory, edit the lines as readme.txt says.

Got it

Aha, I didn't know I needed to change lines in the .bat file, I thought I would have needed to change it just if it had showed. The installation is done now, so when I am off I can try it.
Kiitos

Feedback

I am at the end of chapter 4 now so there is my opinion about the fixpack:

For some reason the game used to 'freeze' sometimes but it hasn't happen since the installation of fixpack???
But it goes down when Rhulana tries to use her powerful blow, it shows a message in windows:
AnimTable::GetAnimInfo0:animation name
'Shild_Einhandstichwaffen_Attack_SP_Wuchslang' not found in anims.xml
[/i]
and after:
Runtime error! etc......
and the game goes down.

I didn't care too much and stopped using this special attack with her.

I was quite happy about the new items at the beggining (Ferdok) of the game, the icons were missing but I knew about this from some previous users on this forum so fixed it. This might be looked at, I mean why the folder keeps not being installed and must be copied.

As far I cannot see too much difference in battles, some 'crucial fights' were without any difficulities. But at some points I had really difficulity which I didn't have when I played the game first time. Especially it was with those stinky creatures under the temple in Ferdok and then in the witch forest while fighting Nature spirits and bears. I mean it is a good thing, just expect of these situations I cannot really say there is a big difference.

I have the only healer Rhulana in my party now and eventhough she has healing at her maximum (12 now) it is very difficult and annoying to heal simple wounds even when using salve of healing. I like that the time for this action and for clarum purum spell is longer now. It makes it more real.

On the contrary I like that gathering herbs and animals is faster, actually I don't use it now. But My first game I had an elven archer as a main character and the time to do these actions was too long.

If I find something more to say in the furthers phases of the game I'll let You know.

Struggling with Mod

Sorry to be a pain...

I have read and re-read the entries about getting the MOD to load but cannot for the life of me get it to work.

I have copied it into the folder, I have read the "read me" file and done as instructed but i still get the same message. That is, the path to Drakensang\export\db\static.db4 couldn't be read form the Registry!

Please help as this is becoming slightly frustrating.

Also I have tried adding a \ to the end etc.

The directory i have the game in is as follows:
c:\Program Files (x86)\Drakensang

many thanks in advance

I can be a little disqualified to answer this question since I created the pack, but I still recommend to use the Fixpack. That's because it mostly fixes translation errors, actual bugs and other issues that bothered most of the players (walking speed, too easy etc). And since the game is very long (+40 hours of gameplay), you might not have energy to go through it again.

Main Features:
+ Localization fixes (translation)
+ Special abilities fixed (according to desc.) and xp costs adjusted to follow the prices.
+ New equipments
+ Alterations to existing items (to add more variation)
+ Faster but harder treat wounds and -poisons
+ Little bit harder gameplay
+ Better dodge and crossbow bolts
+ Specialized mages
+ Much darker dungeons
+ Tougher fights
+ Faster gameplay (faster running speed for everyone!)
+ Better summoned minions

@dogrobber
It doesn't matter where you extract the zip archive. If you are getting this error, about not finding the path, please open install_ergo's_fixpack.bat file with any texteditor (like notepad in Windows). Then do this:

replace these two lines:

Code: Select all

if not exist %pfad%\static.db4 FOR /F "tokens=2* " %%A IN ('REG QUERY "HKCU\Software\DTP\Drakensang" /v target_folder') DO SET dsroot=%%B\

FOR /F "tokens=2* " %%A IN ('REG QUERY "HKCU\Software\DTP\Drakensang" /v version') DO SET version=%%B
with these two lines:

Code: Select all

SET dsroot=c:\Program Files (x86)\Drakensang\

SET version=1.03

Not sure what i'm doing wrong but heck still enjoying the game.

cannot run install.bat

I downloaded the game via steam and have read these forums to kinda get a feel for the game and what this mod does. I like it and want to install it, but I keep getting the same problems that others are getting.

I have downloaded the zip file and extracted it to my desktop.

I go to the install.bat and edit the two lines as you have said, but I keep getting this message:
"The path to "Drakensang\export\db\static.db4"
couldn't be read from the registry!

To install, please copy all the mod's files and folders
to the folder ""Drakensang\export\db\", and start
"Install-English.bat" again there.

here is what my install.bat file looks like:

:: Change this only! Must be the same as the subfolder name
@Set mod=Ergo's_Fixpack

::--------------------------------------------------------------
:: Nothing needs to be changed below
::--------------------------------------------------------------
@set backup=%mod%.bak

:: Title of the mod when the batch starts
@echo == Installing Modification: %mod% ==

@echo off
echo.
set pfad=.
set dsroot=.
SET dsroot=c:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\drakensang\export
SET pfad=%dsroot%export\db

if exist %pfad%\static.db4 goto okay

Echo The path to "Drakensang\export\db\static.db4"

Echo To install, please copy all the mod's files and folders
Echo to the folder "Drakensang\export\db\", and start

copy %mod%\game.ico %dsroot%\ /Y

Is there something I am not doing? I would appreciate any help
thanks!

Code: Select all

SET dsroot=c:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\drakensang\export
SET pfad=%dsroot%export\db
Do you notice the error? pfad will be dsroot + export\db, which means that it's going to be c:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\drakensang\exportexport\db.

Solution:

Code: Select all

SET dsroot=c:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\drakensang\
and make sure, that dsroot ends with '\' (backslash) character.

No, it's clearly doesn't find your static.db4 file. Does this exact path direct to static.db4 file in your drakensang subfolder: c:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\drakensang\export\db. It clearly states that dsroot+"export\db" is not pointing to your static.db4 file.

The last option is to do the installation manually:

#1. Backup of your db4 files (3x) in your drakensang\export\db folder!
#2. Copy all from textures folder (whole file structure including folders) to drakensang\export folder. Nothing should be overwritten.
#3. Copy sqlite3.exe, static.sql, locale.sql and game.sql files to drakensang\export\db folder.
#4. Open command prompt (start > run... > cmd) and go to the directory and run following commands (without quotes):
- "sqlite3.exe static.db4<static.sql"
- "sqlite3.exe locale.db4<locale.sql"
- "sqlite3.exe game.db4<game.sql"
