Loner (drinking sasparilla, since she was on duty, don't worry Boss ;) ) replied, smiling: "In a nutshell? I answered an ad. I came into town, just wandering, and walked in here. And I met the criteria. You know I always wanted to fight the bad guys.

"How about you? Tell me what you've been up to since I last saw you..."

"Raising horses, for the army. Have a few head of cattle. Have some Texans working with me, plus some Apaches. The are the best horse tamers in the area. I hired them after, my parents died. After you left, I rode shotgun on the stage and railroad, protecting gold shipments. I went back to the ranch, after they were killed."

Stretching back in his chair, studing Loner for a bit. Kramo, turned red, when he realized he was looking longer than he should.
"So ah, what did you do before you came here?"

Loner smiled. "Not much...just wandered...I did a bit of vigilante justice from time to time. Got me in bad with the lawkeepers but the citizens sure were grateful. Sometimes I miss it, but...I think I'm on a better path now."

She thought now would be a good time to get to the point. "What brings you here, Kramo? Is it just the Marshal, or is it something else? Talk to me." She flashed her badge (with great pride, Boss :D ). "I am the deputy, you know..."

"Nope, just bring the Marshall's stuff in. So you or the sheriff can telegraph to the US marshall's office. I was just surprised to see ya. Good to see you're doing fine."

Kramo got up, smiled and tipped his hat at Loner. Paid the waiter.

"Be seeing you around, Deputy."

Loner smiled back and nodded. "I hope so," she said.

When Kramo was gone, she got up to send that wire...

Kramo rode out of town, then backtracked to town. He left his horse, behind the saloon and came in the back door. Pulling his hat down to his eyes, he ordered a beer. He sat in the corner, with his back to the wall and waited.

A coach rolls into town. In bright, tall red letters on the side is stenciled:

"Doc Waverly's Wold Famous Snake All - A cure all for spam, impotence, sexual frustration, and most other ailments"

A figure clad in a sharp black suit that could only have been tailored in New York or Boston hopped out and began constructing a makeshift stage...

Deputy Loner, returning from sending the wire, noticed the Doc's wagon. She approached him.

"Well well well," she said. "If it isn't Doc Waverly. Haven't seen you in an age and a half." She looked at the sign. "Interesting. Ah...shouldn't that say snake oil, Doc?"

Waverly just looked at her. She threw her head back and laughed.

"Don't worry Doc," she said, still laughing. "I won't shut you down this time like I did back outside of Dodge. If you behave yourself. Not like last time. I'm deputy in this town now, you know. Believe it or not."

She went off still laughing. When she got bakc to the jail, the other deputy (they still hadn't been properly introduced) was gone, and the Boss wasn't back yet.

(From the back of Doc Waverly's wagon a shady fellow grabs a crate of TnT and hightails it out of town)

Two run down riders, came into town. The both of them stopped at the saloon. Kramo, reconized both of them. They saw him also, so they drew their weapons. But, Kramo was faster, shot both of them twice. He reloaded his guns and order another beer. Then waited for the law.

Don't worry deputy. This is all on the up and up. Got a silver dollar? I'd be happy to give you a 'reduced price' sample...

Madame Gigi, a regular in the saloon, where she picked up all kinds of gossip, took another beer over to the stranger's table. "Itchy trigger finger you got there, stranger. You wanna be watching yourself around this town. We got enough trouble as it is."

Deputy Loner accompanied the Boss. "First assignment," she said aloud as they went off. "Boss, I think those shots came from the saloon..."

Brink replied with a smile :) , " I can see that the crowd has already gathered over there. This shouldn't be too difficult."

As the sheriff and his deputy approached the saloon, they were greeted by the sight of two dead bodies on the ground.......

Deputy Loner saw a small boy observing the scene. She called to him. He came over.

"I'll give you this brand new silver dollar," she said, "if you go and find the undertaker for me."

The boy reached out his hand but Loner snatched it away. "After you find the undertaker," she said. The boy took off running.

"Well Boss," she said, I suppose we ought to look for witnesses..."

Then she saw Kramo, sitting in a corner. Even with his hat slumped over his face, she recognized him.

"Boss," she said, "I think I see someone I'd like to question."
