Buck,
Though I still vote for no change at all to the current system of titles, perhaps you could consider an entirely random system of assigning title? At the press of a button, a member could randomly choose from a list of adjectives and a list of nouns to create a nonsensical title. The title could be permanent and optional, thus only the bravest would risk it. Who would want to be stuck with the title "Persnickety Platypus" or "Fidgety Salad Fork"?

@Gwalchmai: As long those titles aren't sane, I don't think anyone would mind being stuck with those kinds of titles.

Undecided, but interested
@Buck Satan: I have seen some good ideas here, and some not so good. Rather than going into a detailed discussion, I would only ask this: if you do come down to two or three final ideas, please allow a poll on the subject so you can get some solid numbers on the subject, rather than a bunch of random comments. Just a suggestion; thanks, for taking our input in any event!

Thanks for all of the replies =). It seems the general consesus is to keep things the way they are, which is exactly what I'll do (for the time being anyway). There are some pretty good suggestions listed here, but some of them either cannot be done with the forum's current version or would be fairly time-consuming for the moderators and I, so it's probably best that things be left alone for now.
And with that, I'm going to un-sticky this thread.

Grip, grab! Pinch, nab!
And down to Goblin-town
You go, my lad!
Clash, crash! Crush, smash!
Hammer and tongs! Knocker and gongs!
Pound, pound, far underground!
Ho, ho! my lad!
Swish, smack! Whip crack!
Batter and beat! Yammer and bleat!
Work, work! Nor dare to shirk,
While Goblins quaff, and Goblins laugh,
Round and round far underground
Below, my lad!
(A fancy way of saying Davey Jones' locker awaits this unsticky thread)

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
Her hardest hue to hold.

But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
