Ok, by request of Ode to a Grasshopper, here's my input to this Vegemite thing. 
I think the only time that I've actually ate it was about 4-5 years ago, during one of the camps we have at school. It tasted ok, a bit like soy sauce to me.

Vegimite (and marnite to a slightly lesser extent) taste like when you get a bottle of soy sauce and eat all the condensed soy-based material out of the lid which has solidified. Which I hardly ever do anymore, just in case you're wondering. Twiglets are the most revolting things ever created by man or beast. On the list of 'Worst Things Ever Made' I would have:
1)Guns
2)Bombs
3)Twiglets
