Fable you that old!!!!! :p :D

My 1 cent as the resident 'woman hater' (which i am not, i just dont like df)...anyway, from my cultural background, there has been an unhealthy wall created between men and women. Talking to a girl in class is a big thing for some reason. I had just come back to pakistan from indonesia and was talking to a girl that had similar interests as me in class (x-files etc) and 2 girls started whispering in the back. The girl i was talking to turned around and asked what they were whispering about, they replied with the typical nothing. My response was they are talking about me and that i am talking to you. The next day of course the girl never sat with me again and it was impossible to talk to her. As social conditioning and the issue of image were important. It is a complicated mess. To simplify, in pakistan you cant talk to a girl without having some problems.

Learnt the hard way that time, that pakistani society in many respects is going backwards instead of forwards. On the issue of men and women. I agree with Beldin. We are pigs and though not all of us want to get into a girls pants. I have a ton of female friends (with a college ratio of 7 girls to 1 guy) which is normal. I have never wanted to get into any of their pants, well 1 of them, but heck i really liked her. But i agree also women are more damn confusing. If we are honest we get slapped. If we lie we get slapped. We are to blame no matter what.

So guess i get rid of all the estrogen then! :D

I think what Odie means, COMMrade...

... is that don't you get a sudden rush of testosterone production with all those femmes with you. :D

Talk about pump up the jam! :D

fable summed up a number of my povs already...

...though I have a tendency to think that the differences between the sexes in terms of behaviour are largely in part of society's preconceived notion on how each of the genders should behave.

Here in Asia, most societies have very much pre-determined expectations as far as these are concerned.

In Thailand, it is very common for men to be "pigs" (as you westerners would define it) and have a lot of mistresses. It may not be looked up upon but most will just shrug their shoulders and say: "Well, he's a man. That's normal."

I was onced asked if I had a girlfriend here in Thailand and I said no. I told them I'm married already *shows the ring*.

So comes in the next question: "Where's your wife?"

I say, "Back home in the Phils."

Next (surprising?) question: "So, do you have a girlfriend here in Thailand?"

Duh.

Ah ok i get it.
Well i gues i am used to it.
My last class had 20 students.
and only 3 guys.
and it was hot.
Man did i have a problem keeping my eyes facing forward.
Most of the time they would just wander down a bit, and it was tough.
It is only in the summer time when the weather is fine, when girls tend to wear very little that i have the overdose problem! :D

If there are Buddhists out there, please enlighten me on this issue of being faithful to one's spouse.

Well, COMMrade Ally, I feel like in a Car Show with all those gorgeous looking machines sold at ridiculously low prices...

...and all I got is money for a bus ride. :p ;)

So near, so right for the picking... but...

...YOU...

...CAN'T.

Well, you could, but it wouldn't really be the honorable thing to do, would it? Unless your wife didn't mind, but that's not really a likely scenario.
How's the Sushmita photo mission going, BTW? :D

I agree with ode.
Good on you.
That has got to be tough.
The peer pressure
and then every body seems to be doing it
But wifey is more important.
Plus you gonna show us a pic of your wifey? :p
I want to see the woman that tamed you :p

I was thinking more about the *ahem*frustrations involved having a wife in a different country for months on end.

I think Mah has posted a few photos of himself, his wife and his son before, by the way. :)

Oh, that anecdote was great! :D I've been re-reading The Tale of Genji (my wife bought me this new translation for my last birthday), a medieval Japanese novel that's ranked with the world's best. One of the "cultural things" you note right away is the way strong emotions, situations, and visual effects causes the various characters (and at times the author/narrator) to proclaim repeatedly that something would be perfect for painting. Then there are the stereotypical stories of Japanese tourists wielding cameras wherever they go; it all seems very much a part of the same view of the world. Can you see why I would find your story amusing...? The Japanese couple (plus grandma) probably found you very piquant against the Scottish background. They wanted to add you as colorful scenery. ;)

Yep, I can see how that would make the story that much better. :D Though, I'm not Japanese and I get the same "That would make a great picture" thing a lot.
I'm flattered, I think. ;)

I'd say put me down on the humor waiting list, but I rather suspect I'll end up with the same sense of humour as you demonstarte in time myself. :)

The caber is a 17 foot long log (no bark, no branches, no leaves) that the Scots toss as a sport. It has to land with the small end pointing at the person who tossed it. :)
