Hey, has anyone heard Linkin Park's new single from their new album? Heard it on the radio....man, its so sweet!
Personally, Pennywise is punk, but my favourite punk band would be The Offspring.
Bands like Blink182 are considered 'Pop Rock' in my definition.
Slipknot? I've only really liked one of their songs.....maybe two.....

Pennywise are horrible. You want my reason or knowledge why? I've been see'ng thier shows for ever. I'd die before I saw them AGAIN play on the Hermosa strand. Surf Punk. Volcom boys. Bands like penny wise help meld together genre's so some guy can make tshirts and make more money.
Remember when thier were surfers and punkers and jocks. My buddies band The Deviates got signed under epitath and Volcom has a hold on them. Every show I go to see them play the music is overshadowed by the selling of snowboards and tshirts.
Pennywise might be a little more hardcore than Blink 182 but thats only because MTV hasn't picked them up. Then again Green Day was picked up by mtv and is a better band than Pennywise.
I have seen pennywise play over and over again and if you live where I do (south bay where they originated) every other band is just like them. Before they came and after.
Punk DIED when Kurt made it cool to be sad and depressed. Thier are no more punk bands, just people trying a new angle with marketing. Following the trend.
Punk is not a Genre to fit people into. Greenday is not punk in the way the Damned are punk. The sex pistols were over rated and they were the first manufactored band. Although they had the embodied spirit of punk, the desire or rather need to show the world that everything isnt like it is.
Bands like Pennywise and Greenday and SUm 41 are all just kids who loved listning to punk and wanted to be a part of it. Problem is its gone.
Punks dead.

Why not?

They don't have much talent, but I just...like them. I don't really know why. I don't see the message as "KILL KILL KILL", although
they seem to think thats what it is.
*shrugs*

I remember "The Offspring" and "Ignition" and the only cd they will ever get constant play with "Smash"
The question is did anyone know that horrible band Blink 182 when they were just Blink? Heh.

This is what I always gleaned from the punk I grew up with in the 80's. Toss apathy aside and wake up.

@Lintgyl or whatnot...
The problem is that you cant just look at the message they sing. For instance the recent SIGNING OF THE DEATH CERTIFICATE of punk Inland Invasion tour.
The sex pistols, pennywise, social d, X all these bands played for Levi's and Kroq.
While they screamed "Anarchy" they were promoting capitalism.
As sublime says..
Its not in the papers, its on the walls. Music is just another venue to sell stuff to idiotic consumers.

Punks dead.
Oh please don't get me started on those type of bands. Your right that a lot of bands that no longer follow the punk mentality of old. However punk isn't dead, you just have to look a little harder.
