@Xyx: No, I don't think you are trying to disprove something, I think most people are aware or the error sources in polls: you always get a somewhat skew selection just by the selection of who answers and who does not. However, since the figures still tells us there is a lot of girls and women out there playing computer games.

@Fable: I hope for a similar development as I have seen in other unisex dominated areas like for instance, alpine climbing. When I started climbing as a teenager in the 1980's, there were almost no female climbers around. Everywhere I went climbing, I only met men. Also, it was very difficult for me to find good equipment since all gear was made for men and I'm a petit female. Now, there are almost as many female climbers in Sweden as male, and all the big gear companes have ladies clothing, boots, etc. Some companies even specialise in ladies gear. So, let's hope the game industry will have a similar development :)

@Xyz: The polls you receive are merely a ruse to divert you from the fact that all these computer games have built-in software that transmit all sorts of vital information about you to their secret facility in Nevada. These games regularly perform retinal scans to confirm your identity, your pulse, temperature, and the chemical composition of your sweat are analyzed through the keyboard, and you often are forced to answer deep personal questions about yourself (favorite color, breakfast cereal preference, etc., and yes, they know our gender) during hypnosis-induced REM states. Our partners see this and think that we just can’t tear ourselves away from the games, but really, we have no choice at all!. But don’t worry. This just contributes to the high accuracy of the polls. Ignore that ‘plus-or-minus-five-percent’ stuff. :D :D :D
That there; exactly the kinda diversion we coulda used.

@Gwalchmai: Ah, so that's why I get these headaches after staring at the screen for 20 hours! ;)

Oh God, this is what i get for being deep in my cups when I usually post here. As you can plainly see, the sentence structure of that comment was apalling on its own, which can only mean one thing: what I typed did not accuratly portray what I was trying to say.

Knowing that I might dig myself a deeper grave with what I'm about to say, please don't read on unless you're one of those people who like to put someone in the social broiler just for kicks.

Aw screw it. Point is, men are pigs. :D And the ones who aren't, well you know who you are, so don't take offense. ;)

LOL! @Sprinkles, I don't think anyone's going to hold it against you, especially not after such a magnificent defense. ;) :D

To Laurelie

You know I remember someone putting up a clipping on the board in the employee cafeteria where I worked not to long ago that they wanted to be a pig and how lucky pigs were because it was shown that when pigs have orgasms it usually last for 30-45 minutes! Now I'm not going to go into detail here since that was all the detail given but it just gave me the chuckles as I recalled that clipping that I read and what you are saying about men. :)

Enjoyed reading this topic. My husband usually watches TV or goes in the backyard with his binoculars to look at stars. I've tried to interest him in games--but he seems to have zero aptitude for the computer. I don't think he'd have the patience to figure out how to play BG. I think he misses me sometimes, but he's pretty cool about it--he can see how bummed I get when I have no game to be obsessed with. I finished ToB tonight, and I feel totally depressed! I sure hope that the Fallout Tactics game I ordered comes tomorrow!!!

hmmm, i myself am 15, i have no frikkin' clue when i'll get married (can anyone look into the future for me ;) ?)

well, anyway, i'm suprised at the ages for people who play BG and other d&d games.

If you ever go to lez say a starcraft forum (game rocks) it's like, mostly people my age.
when you're 25, you're considered an ancient there.

And i'm also suprised at the number of women who play this.

Well, anyway, keep posting and entertaining me or else.......*pats .45*
