I like Great Cleave too, it's not the best feat in the game, but it is a good one.
What's your character's INT and DEX?
10 for each minus item buffs. Definitely cuts out Expertise & Dodge.

For a melee fighter, toughness comes to mind. Do you use a backup bow from time to time? You could take some archery feats for your CoT bonus feats every two levels, blind fight maybe too. Maybe pick up weapon focus in a one handed back up weapon in case you need to use a shield from time to time. As for your standard feats every 3 levels I like to take the save throw boosting feats like lightning reflexes, Iron Will, Grt. Fort.

Well, don't forget, a pally's Cha bonus is also added to their saving throws (which I currently have a +6 bonus due to inherent bonus combined with the Belt of the Performer +3 and Lantanese Ring +3), so I'm not quite sure if another +2 to Fortitude is necessary. I might take either of the other feats(although I haven't had problems with Enchantment effectsl, especially fear).
I do use a +1 heavy crossbow, and am considering migrating to the Lesser Oathbow (+3 mighty shortbow). Still, I rarely use a bow any more as is. RARELY. About the only weapon feat I can really see if WF: Longsword, and that's more of an 'if' right now.

I haven't forgotten
Even with the paladin/CoT bonues to saves, you will still fail saving throws, especially reflex.
Also just out of curiosity: Why use a heavy xbow and not a longbow or even a composite longbow?

Damage, mostly. If I can definitely find a better (composite) longbow, I'll probably use it. Overall, though, I'm more likely going to be concerned with such with the Elf Warrior/Wizard/Arcane Archer I've been making as a bit of a side project.

Well, I've been starting to notice that maybe Blind-Fight wasn't such a bad idea. I've encountered a few enemies so far that seem to make themselves invisible, particularly with one Yuan-Ti who had buffs galore (particularly Stoneskin), which made working that one down to size a near synch.
I've got this feeling there might be more like that in the very final area for Chpt 2.
Now, on to future reference for Chpt. 3. (highlight for minor spoilers)
Seeing as there are areas called the Coldwood and - from the sounds of it - areas with dragons, I was wondering if Elemental resist equipment (mostly Fire & Cold, of course) are possibly necessary. Just in case, I currently have the Hearth Shield (+3 small shield w/ and 15 fire resist) and the White Dragon Armor (+3 scale male w/ 20 cold resist), along with the Ring of Elemental Resistance I got in chapter 1. Now, if only I could find some Red Dragon Armor, if this is all the case.
