No. it's not obvious. If you search the forums you'll find a lot of posts from players asking why they turned evil. And there are many more who didn't post. Surely not all of them are idiots unable to "roleplay" a good character in a "reasonable" manner.
Even a mod was created because many players didn't agree with the devolopers' definition of evil.
I could dig much deeper into the details, but this would contain heavy spoilers which don't belong into this thread.

Playing a class which can become fallen in BG2 without preknowledge is like playing "russian roulette" with spinning the chamber anew after each shot.
You'll most likely get through one or two dangerous situations, but you'll get far more chances for falling during the game.

Fortunately for him DomTom doesn't play a ranger.

Then I haven't recalled correctly, although I found those endgame possibilities quite clear. I've played the game a lot, talked to many players and I read many fora, but I never heard of anyone having troubles with those things.

*SPOILER ALERT*

Spoiler
Maybe most people think in an utilitarian way? They believe in small sacrifices for large gains? According to D&D lore, and the alignment descriptions, such things are considered evil, in that universe. I agree with that, but I have to admit the lore on the matter in the manual isn't exactly vast.
Just to be clear: we're talking about the choices you have to make when confronting and duelling Irenicus about your divinity, right?
*END SPOILER*

Oh, and if I have messed the end battles up, like thinking Chapter VII = end of BGII instead of ToB, I stand corrected. I've been playing BG1 recently and Chapter VII is the last one there...

anyway... any chance victonia wont leave if my rep gets any higher? or will i have to kill a few peasants to lower my rep or something
