Bush is a illigal president (ever thought about that). It should have been Al Gore!
Isn't it strange that a country as teh USA is ruled by big companies ruled by richguys that choose other richguys tomake them and other richguys more richer... Bush is destroying everyting Bill Clinton has build in the US. And mostly, it is losing its stability.
O well, he doesn't stay very long, within 3 years he's gone and things will become like it should be.

Maybe it was a little brash. I basically meant that it is up to th US Government,not the world at large, (ideally its people) to decide what is and isnt in its best interest. I think that holds true for every country. Should the US simply agree with all multi-national policies because Ireland does or Japan does or four out of five do??? Not that simple.
I certainly did'nt mean "Screw the rest of the world." or thats what I would've said. With so much corruption and money in politics, its difficult to know the true motivations behind political decisions in general. One can only hope the idea of government by and for the people holds true.

I'm not saying Bush will destroy the U.S.A but checks and balances will only work to and extent right now the Executive Branch and Judical are both Conservative while Congress is barely liberal. And don't tell me that the Judges are seperate from the political arena because they aren't. so Bush is as free as it is possible maybe even more so since the court is in the conservative pocket. Bush is just too dumb to run the US.

As to the Roman empire connection the Constitution is really designed to combat the causes of the fall of the empire
1)religon(freedom)
2)incopotent rulers(impeachment)
3)corruption(tries to limit it but corruption is tied to the human race because of our ambition and complexicity)
4)civil war(freedom)

There is a few gators around they bayou's, but not out where I work. You can go to mapquest and look at Dauphin Island AL and I work right there in the mississippi sound. BTW I work on a natural gas platform but there are oil and gas platforms out there also. Alabama doesn't have very much shore line, so not many people know we have an offshore industry. We are hoping Jeb Bush(Gov. of Florida) will one day let them start exploration over there soon. Initial surveys show some of the biggest natural gas deposits in North America are there. Plus it will keep me close to home.

Well I believe in looking out for #1 first then do what you can elsewhere. Not saying that I think we are better than anyone else, it is just my motto. The oil industri and the wepons industri just bought them selfs a nice puppet to run the country. it would be called corruption anywhere else - in us its called democracy.

I think that i heard about an old woman who walked across the continent in protest of the big money and companies involved in politics. well - if its true then i think she is brave and hope more people would stand up for democracy.

The sad thing is that the so many people voted for Bush because they accepted his campaign material that pronounced him a moderate. Bush's own record shows that he was never a moderate in any sense; he has been consistently far to the right in American politics (which means waaaaay far to the right for the rest of the known universe).

The latest Bush news is the speech announcing the unilateral abrogation of the ICBM defense treaty with the Soviet. This is the first time in the history of the US that it has unilaterally withdrawn from a treaty intended to foster peace. Some members of Congress are promising a fight.

But I'm even more impressed by Bush's single-minded pursuit of a way to kill the budget surplus through tax rebates. With hard work and perserverence, he's undoing all the efforts to kill the world's highest debt, which Reagan built (through his cutting of federal banking regulations: 50 billion US dollar debt occurred in one year, alone) and Clinton solved over the protests of the Republican Congress. (They claimed his plan, which ultimately worked, would bankrupt the country.)

I have a vision of the US building steel-reinforced walls around itself, then slowly folding them in until the rest of the universe is blocked out. Am I wrong in this?

i belive that the morality that holds for individuals also holds for nations.

America and europe are like two rich men ignoring the sick and dying. they might say "we have to take care of our selfs first" but how much more do these rich men need before they help others? 3 cars? 4?

50% of the worlds population has never used a phone. The wealth of the world is concentrating more and more. the good need to take that money and distribute it.
