Well, I don't have EVERYTHING planned and made, but guite much. And it's always good to leave some things unplanned, so that you can improvise. Or that's what I've heard.

Yeah, that makes sense. I'm still not sure how it'd go exactly though. What the DM actually does.

DM controls the game, the story, NPC and so on. DM also knows everything that's happening, has happened, and will happen (except those things that depends on players)

Neither have I, not properly. Games like Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights are based on it, but use only portions of the rules. For example neither of those include any kind of mounted combat where the rules do.

So if you were the DM and I was the player, I'd decide which direction in a dungeon to take, you'd tell me what I find there?
And then someone rolls the dice for any kind of checks/ rolls such as looking for traps and hitting an enemy?

DM tells the story.. decides the monsters actions and rolls their dice's..
and as it says in stilgar's? sig, "everytime you roll 1 your DM smiles" i believe it's true

And those games doesn't include every skill and feat.
And I haven't either played any PnP games, but I've played those same games as Rav.

Yes, 1 is the Critical Miss. A miss or complete failure under any circumstances regardless of the bonus.
not sure if you've tried warhammer though...
That's the one with all the little models right?

No, those two are quite far from each other. D&D is roleplay, where you only use paper, dices and imagination (and some rule books). DM tells story and creates events, and players react to them as their characters

Does sound boring, when described that way...

ah, but in the *now long past* warhammer quest, it WAS roleplay, with dungeons to explore etc.. only with models
..
totaly different to the new Warhammer games where you command whole armies...
That's the one with all the little models right?
yup! i used to be quite a fan!
DM tells story and creates events, and players react to them as their characters
ah, ok... hmm is the story scripted? or does the DM make it up?
