@U-Niq....good luck for your examinations!!!!!remember that you're a shadow mage....so you cannot fail!!!!!MUAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!all of us will be hiding in the shadows giving an help to you..
Moreover i think that here in europe we'll get the US version soon. I preordered the US version and think about getting it within 10 days......people who wants the european version will have to wait more.....i think.

Xyx, I don't have TOB yet, but with the experience cap off on SoA I haven't been able to work out casting time stop @ once with two sorcerers. The effect is cool though. It goes something like. ONe character cast time stop and Abi Dalzim's 3 times. The 2nd character's time stop kicks in and he casts Horrid Wilting anotehr 3 times. Heh Heh, if I could get it to work like a chain not too many dudes could live through 12 castings of the baddest damage spell in the game. Even Elminster might have a run for his money! (no sacrilege intended.)

I am starting a game as a sorceror and will be picking up npcs in shadows of Amn. Any recommendations on what is the best familiar to pick? Also do familiars get more powerful as they progress in the game? Also how are they in TOB? DO they become more powerful in TOB?

The familiar you get depends on your alignement. They don't get better with the progression of the game. And (unfortunately....) i don't know how they are in ToB.....YET!!!!

Lorsaden, IMO familiars have one use: extra hp. I don't ever let mine out of the pack becuase the SOB just gets killed, reduces my constitution permanently by one etc. In my experience (I have gone through with 3 mage parties and a solo sorcerer) it's best to just pick your alignment, not worry about the familiar, and store him in the pack... permanently

can anyone post the stats/spells/abilities of a wild mage for me. It won't do any good if you post a link outside of this site since I can't access most gaming sites which isn't cool. Thanks

If ToB allows for level 9 spells in a Chain Contingency (something Bio once mentioned), we'll be able to see
Any recommendations on what is the best familiar to pick?
Yup. Get the Fairy Dragon. It's the only one that can cast a useful spell: Invisibility 10' Radius. Never use familiars for combat.
That makes you Chaotic Good, which also gets you the most useful (IMO) Bhaalspawn abilities.
But it's not a big deal really. Don't choose an Alignment you otherwise wouldn't pick just to get this or that familiar or innate ability.

Thanks for the info. I was a neutral good sorceror with a pseudo dragon before my d: drive had to be formatted and I lost all my save games. (monk, and sorceror).
To Edwin:
Sorry about that. I should have been more clear, I am starting over from Shadows of Amn again as a sorceror, so I have not pick an alignment yet. I will pick a good or neutral alignment though. Too bad familiars don't get experience and level up
. That would be fun.
To xyx:
fairy dragon sounds good. You are right when I played with a pseaudo dragon I only used him for combat in the beginning of the game(promenade against the imp on second floor).
To violence:
from my reading of Tob manuel the wild mage are able to cast the same spells and have the same stats as a regular unspecialized mage. In addition they have three new spells that other mages do not get that allows them to tap into wild magic and give them a favorable result. there is a 5% chance that any normal spell they cast can result in wild surge effect (the effect is determine based on a 1d100 table). Or they can cast a spell that would access the wild magic effect table right away.
I hope this helps. I believe Buck Satan has posted info on the wild mage powers and description on this site.

Hmm. Anyone know if kayless is still alive? It has been about three days since he got TOB. He is the one that could play 48 hours on a game without food or breaks right?! Hate to lose any dedicated players

@Lorsadan, I’m alive. I just had to beat ToB before I could post again
(Game conquered in 3 days. That’s gotta be a new record).
I’ll be going back down to beat it with my evil party next. But before I do that I've gotta give my briefing. So on to my impressions (sans spoilers
). In a word: Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! The opening cinematic is much more lively then Shadows of Amn’s and the story kicks into high gear from the beginning. Sarevok rocks the house (no surprise there) and some of the battles are insanely difficult (I’ll let you discover which ones on your own
). Saradush under siege is a cool environment and Watcher's Keep brings up fond memories of Durlag’s Tower. There are a lot more enemies with small portraits so that adds to ambiance. Without going into spoilers let me just say that my romance with Aerie had some big surprises, and the game’s ending is very well done (it tells you what happened to each of your party members as they went on with their lives). I believe there are at least four endings to chose from (I’ve only seen two) and that should be enough to cater to all characters, good or evil alike. I found the music to be much better then BG2’s and really gets you into the spirit. Cespenar the Imp is hysterical. I was laughing my ass over every time he spoke (great voice over). For those of you who know Gromnir from the Black Isle message board will find his dialogue appropriate and funny as well (in case you’re unaware Gromnir is a character in ToB based on a regular poster). There is also a hilarious sequence that pokes fun at players themselves (again I won’t spoil but it’s so damn funny I’m tempted). And the pantaloons enigma? No comment
. Throne of Bhaal is definitely a worthy close to the Child of Bhaal saga and I was overwhelmed by how skillfully it was done. I’m sad to see the story end but it couldn’t have gone out on a better note.
