Why would a girl want a man who takes her money? I know I'd much rather have a man who's money I take.

Old Transformers? HAH!Originally posted by Sailor Saturn:
<STRONG>Uh...unless I am mistaken, the 'old Transformers'(which I remember quite clearly and I'm only 18) was anime(the older style like Speed Racer and Mobile Suit Gundam)...we just didn't know any different then(at least, I didn't). I do agree that the new Transformers show just isn't the same, but I still enjoy watching it.

Old Japanese anime? HAH!
Want old robots? I'll give you samples of old robots. I'm not so sure though if they were popular in the west. I'm sure Minerva would know these robots.
Voltes V (five)
Mazinger Z
Grendaizer
Daimos
Balatac
Mekanda Robot
Popular in the mid 70's when I was in Kindergarten. I had a Voltes Five set. Five ships (Crewzer, Bomber, Panzer, Frigate and Lander) that volt in to become the ultra robot Voltes V. This was what that pathetic Voltron copied in concept.

Do you remember the Space Giants? They were a family of robots that lived under a mountain in Japan and turned into rockets. There was a mother and father robot and they had a half-human/half-robot kid (who also turned into a rocket) that befriended a human kid. It was live action with Godzillaesque-guy-in-a-rubber-suit-"special effects", and each week a different monster threatened the town where the robots and their human friends lived.Originally posted by Maharlika:

They came on TBS in the early 80s and were the entire reason why my family got cable (so I wouldn't have to go over to someone else's house to watch them).

@Maharlika
hey i think i had sum of those.....i went to Japan in 81 and came back with like a dozen pre-transformer sweet arse robots...they were all steal (no plastic cheese) and i got them for hella cheap
like 10-15 bucks each....man they were cool, think Shogun Warriors only smaller and way better made, one had a lion face on his chest that shot missles out of it....he also changed into a lion
all of them shot off their fists....i had them bout five years and then they just kinda dissapeared
i saw a couple of them in a hobby store years later....like 89, these were the same ones but they wanted almost a hundred bucks each.....
btw all of the robot toys came from Japaneese cartoons that were on daily in the early 80's....i think Voltron was one, so long ago meh can't remember

They were made of die-cast metal. I had a Voltes V which to me was the best from the rest.
There was also this girl robot (Aphrodite A) who happened to be the girlfriend of Mazinger Z and her only weapons were a pair of CHEST MISSILES.
I remember collecting a lot of stickers of these robots.

It was called Space Giants while it was on TBS, although it was dubbed and could have been repackaged under any number of other titles.

You used to be a fairly good auto mechanic, but now all you can do is raise the hood of your car and mutter, "Since they started using them new-fangled engine computer, I just can't work on the thing anymore."
You know the correct context for the phrase, "Big Bucks! No Whammies . . . Stop!"
