Hey, Brink, DP, T'lainya.
To tell the truth, E3 was kind of muted this year. There was less to see, and more spent on console stuff than in previous years. I did get a view of a few very fine upcoming RPGs, and I'm going to write a short piece for Buck on the games. For now--
Nicest Surprise: The Planescape: Torment team are at work on a 3D RPG for Interplay, called Torn. Looks damn good.
Greatest Potential:
1) The Star Wars RPG that Bioware is doing for Lucasarts.
2) Elixir Studio's Republic, a 3D realtime RPG/strategy game about gaining the hearts and minds of various factions in a modern Soviet.
Longest Time Spent at a Booth: Throne of Bhaal. Real surprise there, huh?
Most Disappointing Moment: The developers of NWN telling me that the game can't be paused, even when you're selecting spells. Great-looking game, but can you say "Ultima VIII"...?

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
Fable, I'll be looking forward to your article That's not exactly confidence inspiring about Nwn

Thanks, Weasel. Yeah, the entire west hall of the convention center was, for the first time in E3's history, nothing but console stuff. Everybody wants a piece of the Microsoft's, Sega's, or Nintendo's pie. Current opinion backs Microsoft because they can throw the most money convincing the public that they actually need to spend extra money on a one-task piece of fluff like a game computer.
I'm curious what will happen if Microsoft takes over the console, in order to control the software, hardware and peripherals markets. Will the US government blink and wake up to the monopoly?

Um, isn't there some other game that could possibly serve the same function for you? Then you could put the money to some better purpose, like buying women for Brink.

Okay. Do get back to me about it. I think we can do a great serve to humanity, and not coincidentally, to Brink, too. And if that's true, I think we should do it, anyway.
