More about Ehren Streicher:
From an early age Ehren was singled out among his peers for his fiery red hair in the village
of Cumberland. On an errand one day for his alcoholic father, a couple of the older village boys,
trying to impress a suitor, decided to tease Ehren. Whoever could make him cry first was the
winner. Ehren was confident with his physical form and nothing anyone could say would bring him
to tears. His mother, however, was another matter. As soon as she was mentioned Ehren’s eyes
turned to steel, covering his rage within.
The smarter of the oppressors saw the young boys’ mood darken and stopped what he was
saying, realising he may have crossed the wrong line with his last comment. The dumber one,
lacking the perception skills of his associate kept on with his bombardment. Each word was
stoking the inferno in Ehrens’ heart and at last he reached his limit. Remembering the bottle of
potent liquor his father had sent him to collect, his arm grew taught as he swung it with a rage
only a berserker could attain at the dumb persecutors temple. It connected with blast of glass
shards, the older lad sent sprawling.
Ehren’s heart turned to ice as he realised what he had done. His face a picture of sorrow,
it quickly changed to confusion once he looked at the boy he had struck. Apart from being on the
floor and very surprised he seemed none the worse for wear. No blood, nothing. Seeing vengeance in
the smarter one’s eyes he quickly turned and fled only to be grabbed by what felt like a claw. He
whipped round ready to plead for his life only to realise it was the village priest who had
apprehended him.
“Come, child,” said the priest. “We have much to discuss.”
That night Ehren poured his heart out to the priest, Wycombe, as he revealed himself to be.
Wycombe had witnessed all that had transpired and had been granted an insight into Ehren. He had
shown great control in not lashing out much sooner, but poor judgement by not walking away.
Wycombe was nearing the end of his days and in need of an apprentice. Ehren, with some moulding,
was that apprentice. He moved in with Wycombe, leaving his father no issue since they were never
close. His mother had died soon after birth. He was taught the ways of Pelor, the Sun God, and leant
how to control his temper in the pursuit of good.
The day came when Wycombe passed away. On his death bed he handed Ehren a package and said,
“I wasn’t always an old man. I see your strength of body and heart and I envy you. Go now, into the
world, seek out injustice wherever you see it and burn it at its core. Remember . . . Temperance.”
Wycombe’s last words echoing in his heart, Ehren set out from Cumberland to make the world
a brighter place. The package contained Wycombe’s legacy, The Temperate Star. With the half-dozen
years of tutelage Wycombe had bestowed upon him, Ehren was confident in his ability to wield the
mighty Morningstar, with reserve, in his quest for justice.
Months passed that felt like years and Ehren roamed the land helping all those he could, yet
his life lacked purpose. Nothing he did seemed to affect the grand scheme of the world. His blazing
passion was guttering. Eventually rumours started circling of a virgin-eating king far to the West
in the scorching land of Karnakiid. Ehrens’ birth land, Tormany, was considered hot, almost arid but
Karnakiid was in the highest echelon of hostile environments.
This, thought Ehren, is what my life has been building up to. With new ire in his heart and
purpose in his stride he set off for Karnakiid.
Again months went by, yet this time with speed. Every step closer to Karnakiid was a step
closer to destiny. The city walls came within sight and anxiety gripped Ehren. He steeled his resolve,
squeezing his moist palms into fists and paced to the city gates. He entered the city and a great
roar rose from the masses choking the streets; “The King is dead!” And so is my purpose, thought Ehren . . .

A few things for Moogleman-

First, unfortunately if you don't have any ranks in a knowledge skill, you can't make use of it, meaning you can't make use of knowledge religion or planes.

Second, all spellcasters gain a bonus number of spells per day based on their key ability score. You have an extra 1st level spell you can have.

Third, just a minor set of errors with Encumbrance

It should look like this-
Light load:.........58 lb. or less
Medium load:......59-116 lb.
Heavy load:.......117-175 lb.
Lift over head:...1-175 lb.
Lift off ground:...1-350 lb.
Push or drag:.....1-875 lb.

Scale Male weighs 30 pounds, a morningstar and a light steel shield each weigh 6 pounds, so that total is actually 42 and not 48. So currently the total load should be 85, not 91.

And with encumbrance, it's either your armor/shield or your load/weapon, whichever is heavier. Currently your load is 49 pounds, and your armor is 36 pounds. Right now, your encumbrance is 49 pounds, not 85. Your speed is still ten feet slower due to the armor, but it does make a difference in penalties all together.

And finally, while this doesn't currently change anything on your character sheet, I saw you put "HP rolled" down there at the bottom. just remember that the DM said maximum hit points for all levels, so you don't have to roll at any point in time.

It looks like we are all waiting for Annette to give us the starting story.

Moogleman: Just a very minor thing. I saw you have a hooded lantern, but no oil for it. You might want to add that to your inventory.

Sorry for the delay, my modem died about an hour after my last post. So, everyone's ready? If so, we can start tonight (I'm on a school computer at the moment and don't have my notes with me, otherwise we could start right now.)

Since the modem died, I didn't get a chance to see your mapping suggestions until a few minutes ago (they are appreciated, by the way.) Since I wasn't able to make the map with those, I ended up just drawing it by hand. As expected, it's crappy but usable. I'll upload it tonight.

I've corrected all the mistakes you guys mentioned, cheers for the help :)
Looks like we're good to go. Just to clarify, the new thread going to be where all the rolling and in char discussions go on and this thread is for all out-of-game matters, right?

Depending on how the DM runs it, usually on this forum there are three game threads-

One for game discussion, I.E. This thread.
One for the actual game itself
One for character discussion, planning and trading

The last two are both in game but with the difference that the first one is for the game and the DM to tell the story with where as the second is for all character to character discussions that might otherwise slow down the game itself. The character discussion thread could be used for determining who gets what loot (like we get 500 gold and a ring of protection +1 at level 4 or something, we'll discuss who gets and could benefit the most from that ring in the character discussion thread), or planning out what to do in the dungeon we're about to embark on or what have you.

This I've found to be efficient in keeping the game thread solely for advancing the game. This way if two characters are getting into an argument about a certain course of action, the game doesn't stop and wait for those two to finish the argument.

Sounds like the best way to do things, very efficient. Where would you post if you were talking to an NPC, like an inkeeper. The game thread?

Yeah, anything the DM brings to you specifically for game purposes is in the game thread. NPC's, actions, dice rolls, general dialog, etc etc.

Character-only things like plans of action for a scenario the DM brings up, debates/arguments, trading, etc etc.

One problem, malinzaro. The link to Westan's character sheet doesn't seem to work anymore. The error message says:
Sorry, the requested character can not be shown. Either you don't have permission to edit it, the sheet isn't publicly viewable, or the character does not exist.
On the off chance it's just me who can't view it, could you please copy&paste it into this thread? The only thing I still have to do before we begin is work out your characters' meeting.

And, wouldn't you know it, the map file is corrupt, so here's a picture I just took with my abysmal webcam. If there's any trouble reading it, let me know and I'll tell you what it says. At some point I'll use some of those programs malinzaro and Siberys recommended and make a more detailed one.

Here ya go-
BACKGROUND:
The Krest family has a long tradition as swordsmen and their family line can be traced for centuries back in the Locasthian Empire. Westan's father, Theodyn was an exceptional sword master who, as much as his ancestors, had a reputation of dealing powerful blows while having an extreme tactical field awareness. Rumors said that his unique two swords style was refined with the help of his elven friends, since he religiously traveled east twice a year for reasons unknown to others. During his travels he met an exceptional woman and even though they never married they had a son.

During his childhood, Westan lived in her mother's tribe so he lacks the finesse of his father's swordplay. He is a straightforward person and the life between barbarians didn't helped him much in developing his social, civilized side. Life in the wilds can be harsh and at a relatively young age his mother died of an unknown, strange disease. Westan was spared though and he moved to stay with his father. He and Theodyn never got along since their characters were almost the opposite and Theodyn never spent enough time together with him so the family link between them was somewhat missing. Still, his father taught him a bit about his ancestors swordplay, which Westan with his quick mind was able to easily blend it with his own, more brutal style. After generations of swordsmen, this new training came naturally to him.

Theodyn never recovered after hearing of his lover's fate. His mind seemed clouded and you could notice the madness in his eyes. He slowly stopped training with his swords and spent days locked in the basement of their house. At times, strange noises came from down there. He made frequent trips in the wilds, but not his usual travels east. While his father was away, Westan continued to train his new skills and voraciously read the extensive library that his father owned.

After a couple of years Westan eventually couldn't resist the urge to feel the wind caressing his face again, so he decided it is time to take a trip into the desert. Maybe his barbaric ties ask for an initiation ritual. Or maybe the books that depicted the strange ruins in the desert fueled his imagination. Either way, he informed his father that didn't seemed surprised at all about his decision and the next day he packed up and left with an unknown destination.

Thanks again! So, if I have everything straight:
Westan's father is from Lovincia, his mother from the Elven Kingdoms. He recently went wandering, and has ended up in Karnakiid City.
Ehren is from Tormany. Seeking purpose in his life, he came to Karnakiid to fight Arluss III, but arrived a month ago to find him dead at the hands of his daughter. He made his way from the port town of Osirian to Karnakiid City, for reasons that are up to Moogleman, not me.
Eliah is from the neutral lands. For unknown reasons, she felt compelled to travel south, across the sea to Karnakiid. As she would also have arrived in Osirian, it's plausible that she met Ehren on the way to Karnakiid City.
Shar'ra's tribe is native to the Wastelands, and Agamemnon the Dragon King has tasked her with finding the source of the arcane fluctuations in the desert. She has come to Karnakiid City to seek advice.

If there are any issues, I'll be happy to change stuff. Otherwise, I'll open those threads and we can get started!

I am sorry you can't open my character file Annette. Can you please check it again? It might be an error with the hosting service, as it is fine to me and seemingly Siberys too. If Ellie's host is more reliable I can redone it there too.

Either way I have some appointments this morning, but I'll check the material you posted a bit later. It looks great, sketch included :) I will posta few thoughts now though.

It seems to be just my computer, then. I can see it fine on my school's computers. You needn't bother remaking it, this is probably just a residual effect of my modem issues. It'll probably blow over. Besides, Siberys posted a screenshot of it. So even if the problem doesn't go away, you could just do that each time you level up.
