I think I'll be going for a fighter, so I thought I'd ask here:
"What determents your saving rolls vs magic? Are they set with your statistics like wis or int ect.?

This is what I've got so far:

Rob-hin
Human Fighter

Str: 14
Dex: 16
Con: 14
Int: 10
Wis: 12
Char: 8

Let me know what you think!

Save throw agains mindeffects(willpower) are partly determined by wisdom, but also level and class.
You bonus in wisdom is added to your class+level savethrow.
So if a bonus of 1 in wisdom - you'd get that bonus ontop of your class/level's savethrow.

Dex affects reflex saving throw
Con affects fortitude saving throw
Wis affects willpower saving throw

there is no save vs magic. i think fireball makes a reflex saving throw for half.

@rob-hin - i would advise a int of 12/13 so you can easily access some higher lvl skills

Ok, how about this:

Rob-hin
Human Fighter

Str: 14
Dex: 15
Con: 14
Int: 12
Wis: 12
Char: 8

I like to base my character on the real me, and I'm not SUPER strong but more of a smart fighter. So I like to build on that.

I'm not sure yet where to put 15 in stead of 14, Str, Dex or Con. Any thoughts?

Also remember that for every 4th. level you recives a point with which you can increase any given stat by one point, no matter if that stat is 14 -> 15 or 20 -> 21.
This means +5 in stats at lvl. 20.

damn if we have to do that I need more than 28 stat points :D :D

Your fighter looks nice ;) I would sacrifice some wisdom for 15 str. and 15 con. otherwise he look ready to go wack something evil.

why not like this
str:16
dex:14
con:14
int:12
wis:10
cha:10

i dunno if this is 28pt legal but looks like it is

I'd actually say that the former was better, because then the full 5 bonus points can be
used.
Otherwise like this he would when reciving the 5th point end up with an uneven number, wich would not give any bonus'.
The otherway he would/could end up with all even numbers and thereby get bonus for every point :)
Just IMO ;)

I'm currently working with the d&d Character Generator (wizards of the sword coasts site & BG2 cd1).
Based in this program you get bonusus at some points (like when 16 points at Dex, then you get +1 at reflex, AC, ranged and initiative(whatever that helps?))

My question: is this the same in NwN, or isn't it known yet?

no, cause you'll need to spend one of those points on int (13 requiered for the skills), you'll end up with 4 that can upgrade your STR to 20. (i just love when im right, wich is quite rare) :D :D

Add to my other question (sorry about all these questions :( ).

Won't a low wisdom make the character vulnerable to mind spells like confusion? I think a lot of fighters have a low wisdom.

yes but it gets better with lvls and there is a feat that increases it, also i think there will be spells to protect you (casted by either a cleric or a mage)

And precisly what skill is it you know will be in NwN that you just couldn't live without compared to say 20 extra HP or better range damage or meele damage?
All the skills I've seen in the generator - the only "importent" that require 13 int is expertise, other then this - I see none. (And BTW these are based on personal prefrence)

I'd still uphold that it IMO is more importent to reach mostly even numbers because you don't get bonus' for odd numbers.

Also if you as a fighter wish' 13 int - I'd take it at creation, and then tone down one of the others because the increase from 12->13 with one bonus point is IMO a waste of a this point because it could be spendt on an increase from 17-18 (ei.)

@Rob-hin: of course you have to weight the extra bonus to your savethrow against the other things you want. (ei. do you want +1 on willpower or +1 or meele.)

Anyways, I FINALLY MADE UP MY MIND!! *fhew*

This is what's it gonna be:

Rob-hin
Human Fighter

Str: 14 (+ lvl20 bonus 2=16)
Dex: 15 (+ lvl20 bonus 3=18)
Con: 16 (= 184 Hp)
Int: 12
Wis: 10
Chr: 8

This means I'll need to collect some items that give me extra strenght and some items to protect my mind from confusion (and spam :D )

Thanx for your help everybody!
