*Ahem* Yes, well..Its purely hypothetical and at any rate, I Uhhh, you see, I would never download Copyrighted material off a fileserver oh, If I uhh, ever used one in the first place.. Well, uhm, infact...

Whats a file server?....

Now that thats done with...

My fav covers always being something new to the song, without spoiling it.. Or in some cases, making it better though, due homage must be payed to the original, without which the cover could not exist, even if I hate the song and band

One good example would be Stayin' Alive by Ozzy osbourne and Dweezil Zappa, though...

Aside from on a bad noughty evil program for the illegal sharing of copyrighted files, I have no idea where you would find it since it was supposed to be on the Beavis and Butthead do america soundtrack and never made it on

i enjoy most of Me first and the gimme gimme's covers, very energetic, i like the sound, but true, they are just joking around.

as far as serious covers go:
most people like aretha franklin's version of respect even though i hate it
the bangel's - hazy shade of winter is liked by many although i still prefer simon and garfunkel
all along the watch tower by jimi hendrix i find much more enjoyable than the original bob dylan.
offspring - feelings is quite popular with the punk crowd, i like it much better than the original personally
the byrds version of tamborine man did much much better than old bob dylan's did
i really really like isreal kamakwiwo'le's version of it's a wonderful world and somewhere over the rainbow

Well there are a few covers that I like better than the originals and I also just generally like:
Apoptygma Berzerk re-did "Fade To Black"
Apoptygma Berzerk re-did "Nothing Else Matters"
Pet Shop Boys re-did "Always On My Mind"
Soft Cell re-did "Tainted Love"

Those are all great songs.

welcome to SYM Scott

@Scott, I quite like Aretha's Respect...but I agree not as good as the original...but what do you make of Otis Redding's Satifaction? ;)

A good cover I heard recently was Vex Red doing genie In A Bottle by whoever-wrote-Christina-Agulainairasnwjasa's-songs...

Not truely a cover, but a sin non the less

Last year I was horrified to witness the demonic horrific raping of one of the most moving music pieces my parents Generation.

POP TARTS USING HENDRIX'S LIVE STAR SPANGLED BANNER

to sell thier colorful pop tarts, they actually secured the rights to the recording. I seriusly contemplated sending mail bombs to poptarts. I still do.

horrific evil, bad bad bad covers...

Lenny Kravits : American woman (The guess who)
This is just so bad, I cant even think of what to say.. The most standout crappy thing about it has to be the video, which is to say, visually stimulating, it utterly misses the point of the song

Pearl Jam : Warpigs (I think I put this in good ones before, my bad)
My beef with this is, musicly it sounds absolutly identical, so props has to go to jam for managing to do so, but singe it offers zip in the way of something new, ill just listen to the original thanks
