Ok i dont get involved in such debates. But these are my two cents.
I am a very private person. Everybody knows that. I dont communicate via pms. Only on MSN since like Feb and not before that. For the past 2 years i have only posted here. For a muslim posting politics after sept 11th from an anti-american point of view, i was and still am surprised how accepted i am.
As for cliques and stuff. I personally dont associate with any groups, dont want to and never have considered myself part of a group. If anybody says DF, i swear i will rip you apart
Aegis is right about one thing, cliques are part of life. Heck we have 30 students at the program here. The clicques are here as well. We get along well but we trust some more than others. Associate with some more than others, while some have similar interests.
I hang out with the 2 pakistanis and 1 indian. We are a very tight group. We only understand some jokes, we have insider comments and we always speak in the same language. BUT there are 3 russians who are always with us as well. We teach them urdu and translate our jokes when ever they are around. We try to accomdate them.
SYM does the same. They are groups but they are not snobbish. Some people know each other on a personal level, as a newbie you cant be expected to be treated the same. But you have to give it time.
I will give a personal example of what being an SYMer or a GB poster means. I showed up on Argyle and another one signs, the name was Arcane. A poster from GB. We rp meeting up at the crossroads. Now i have never talked to Arcane or even seen him post in SYM. He asked me if i was CM on GB and i said yes. He said he was a GBer as well. The natural reaction was he is a GB poster, we look out for each other. I had a great time playing with him. Great kid. Thought him the ropes and had a good time.
I personally would have never talked to him on the server or anywhere else if i hadnt know he was from GB. Corny i know, but the simple thing is, he was a poster on GB. He was on argyle. The natural reaction was i hang out with him. It was mutual. SYM is a specific example, but the site fosters this type of feeling.
If it was clique orientated that would have never happened.
Damn this got long.

Fas(AKA CM) is the only DF who never has written a post in the story.......He tries to keep it a secret. Don't tell him I told

I find that a lot of Aegis' posts are nostalgic recollections of the 'Golden Age of Spam'
p ) when he, Vehemence, Ubik and whoever would spam rampantly, all the while creating hilarious in jokes which are still remembered.
I wasn't around at the time, but it strikes me that Aegis' nostalgia is to a clique that he used to enjoy, but is now gone. Perhaps you would not feel such hostility to groups if your group of choice was still around Aegis
.
The most cliquey I have ever been was summer last year IIRC when I was often online at the same time as CE, Dottie and Kameleon, and we were interested in discussing the same things....unfortunately since then CE got promoted or something, Kam and me have frantic exams to study for and Dottie has become a hermit...so that clique was tragically stunted

Heh, I just know Aegis misses being fish slapped by Veh.
Dottie has become a hermit...
I think he has been kidnapped by CE!

So much for being careful with stories, eh @Georgi?
Trust you...
I wasn't involved at the time, but if I'm correct, your little subplot didn't actually interfere with the main story, did it?

This is an example of the elitest mentality I see here, and it has led me to limit my posting on these boards, and mostly just look after the couple of forums I moderate, and peruse SYM.

Behold! Repent and acknowledge me as the overarching authority on all subjects, lest I deprive you of mine erudition.

the groups that exist will only pay them lip service. It is a truth of people and soceity, and the internet does not escape those aspects of life.
Perhaps you missed the point where I said we only have our posts here to be judged from. If you don’t get the response you were expecting,
Look Within. Everyone here starts at the same ground zero. It is what you make of it.

ROFL "Occasionally" I admire your sharp brain and words, Waverly.
Even though I sometimes suspect your wisdom,
ie. choice of person you are targeting to.

Wisdom is overrated.
Always max out your charisma attribute.

Where in my post did I refer to the DF?
And how snobbish of you to shun our chat!
@DW and Scayde ROFL!
@Frogus, thanks for clarifying my point somewhat

Well, I... can see where... this has gone. From concerns... of compulsive writing to ideas for self-amusement. Wierd.
*suddenly has a ton of different songs and tunes from games and movies stuck in his head, ranging from "Turn the Page" and "Jumping Jack Flash" to a battle tune from BG2: Shadows of Amn"* Agh! It's them voices in me head! *bangs his head on a rock trying to get them to stop, only breaking the rock in the process, groans* Had to be sandstone!

LOL...I see the nasty word has come up.
Hell, I'm not part of any clique either, I just fade in and out of reality at random. It's quite fun, actually.
@Galuf: Really, in all seriousness, there is a place for anyone who lingers around SYM long enough, and who posts enough to be seen. Just keep posting, Galuf. Spam at will, and you will find a niche to occupy comfortably in all the madness. Look at Grunty. He walks around pantless.

*spits his ale at the mention of Gruntboy* He does WHAT?
Well, people can be different sometimes, even more than me, and I understand that with open arms.
