My picks for Week 8:

Vikings over the Giants. Minn stays unbeaten, though there’s a small chance the Giants could pull an upset. I don’t think so.
Patriots over Browns. A quarterback merry-go-round won’t help Cleveland.
Panthers over the Saints. Assuming Carolina can hold on to the ball.
Buccaneers over the Cowboys. Dallas looks like it might be a good upset to pick, but I’ll go with Homefield.
Titans over the Jaguars.
Broncos over Ravens. Baltimore is the favorite (barely), but Denver could also be a good upset pick. I mean, even the Bengals beat them, why can’t a Denver team with a 3rd string QB? I’m taking the Broncos, and not simply because I want them to win.
Bears over Lions. I can’t believe this is really such a sure thing, but everyone is picking Chicago!
Seahawks over the Bengals. Here’s one where I can’t believe anyone thinks that Cincinnati actually has a chance, but there are people picking them!
Rams over the Steelers. St. Louis is hot. I still hate Pittsburgh from when they had Kordel (messed up many of my picks). I don’t get why Pit is favored.
49ers over the Cardinals.
Colts over Texans.
Jets over the Eagles. McNab is playing hurt, but there’s a QB square dance planned in New York. But, Philadelphia has won every game against the Jets. I’m just not sure about this one.
Chiefs over the Bills. I don’t know. Kansas City didn’t look that great last week. But they’re playing in Arrowhead.

And, Dolphins over the Chargers, 28 to 9. But I see that Idioteque has faith!
That there; exactly the kinda diversion we coulda used.

Now I'm not so sure. The Mayor of San Diego is requesting that the NFL cancel the game or relocate it since there are large fires raging all over San Diego. The sky around my house was orange all day and it looks like its snowing with the falling ash.

The game will most likely be relocated in which case San Diego will lose its home field advantage. :(

I was out of town all weekend and didn't get to post my picks for the week, which is probably for the best since there were so many upsets (ie-Giants beating the Vikes).

@Gwalchmai:
I have no idea why TMQ has been canned by ESPN. All I saw was their little icon that said Page 2 was no longer carrying his column. I'm sure someone else will pick him up, although he may have to adopt another moniker (if ESPN owns the trademark on Tuesday Morning Quarterback). I'm sure he'll write a book about it.

Yes, this has been an interesting weekend. Unfortunately, my one upset didn’t pan out, so I’m feeling its loss more than I am games like the Vikings or the 49ers. At least the Broncos were winning for a few minutes, there. I think my big mistake was that I failed to consider how tiring a 60 minute game can be on a 3rd string quarterback. The game was really lost when he threw those two interceptions, which happened late, when he was tired. I guess experience starting games helps to build mental and physical stamina as well as skill. I doubt the Broncos will be able to improve much before next Monday’s game with the Pats (who won, but with a surprisingly low score vs. the Browns this weekend).

Sadly, BS called the Giants as winners, even though he picked the Vikings. I wish I could have seen that game, just to see the glassy-eyed looks of the purple guys as their perfect record got shot. Instead, I got to watch Jacksonville shut out the Cowboys. Obviously, the ‘boys are not ready to go all the way, though they will be contenders next year. I was very surprised that the Bucs didn’t score more points. They are not as good as they were last year, either. I understand that they are maintaining a win-loss-win-loss pattern, so they should lose next week vs. the Saints???

The Jets/Eagles game seemed to be the big toss-up game going into the weekend, and I just picked the wrong side.

How in the world could Seattle lose to the Bengals and the 49ers to Arizona? Well, Sun Devil Stadium gets to host the Chargers and Dolphins tonight, due to the California fires. SD may lose the home field advantage, but Tempe is only 7 hours driving time away from San Diego, and admission will be free! The game starts at 7:00 MST, Idioteque, in case you’re coming. :) Maybe the upset vibes from the 49er/Cardinal game will still be hanging around the stadium, and your Chargers will catch the fever.

I do wish ESPN.com would explain what happened to TMQ. I, of course, only read him for the articles, and not just for the Cheerleader of the Week. But now I have to rely on HLD for the CotW, and he hasn’t been delivering much this year either. :( HLD, I think you owe us at least 4. :D

Well the Mayor has asked us not to go to school or work (unless necessary) and keep the roads clear so I don't think I'm going to make it to the game.

As for TMQ I could only get a quarter of the way through those articles ( and most on Page 2) without getting bored so I'm not exactly mourning its lost. Insider on the other hand is great, too bad its not free. But 49.99 ( or whatever it is) for thousands of articles and a subscription to ESPN The Magazine isn't bad.

SYM/DCI Standings - 2003
Week 8

jwmblade 11/3 – 79%
Bloodstalker 10/4 - 71%
Tybaltus 10/4 - 71%
Gwalchmai 9/5 - 64%
Idioteque 9/5 - 64%

Cumulative
jwmblade 39/20 – 66% (+4)
VoodooDali 37/19 - 66%
Bloodstalker 75/40 - 65% (+1)
Gwalchmai 73/43 - 63% (even)
HighLordDave 53/33 – 62%
Idioteque 26/16 – 62% (+1)
Tybaltus 43/28 - 61% (+4)

Well, this week wasn't as bad as I thought it had been - everyone managed to improve their cumulative standings at least slightly. The big move was seen by jwmblade, who leapt ahead of Mama Voodoo. Will he be able to maintain his lead? I think not. Voo sets a high standard that few men can measure up to. :p

A few difficult choices this week include:
the Colt at Dolphins (Fins coming off a good Monday Game - are they tired? Are they c0cky?)
the Battle of the New Yorks (Giants seem hot)
the Chargers at the Bears (Bears can't win them all, and the Chargers can't lose them all)
Raiders at Lions (Raiders could sure use a win going into their bye)
Steelers at Seahawks
Bengals at Cardinals
Redskins at Cowboys (can the 'skins capitalize on the demoralized 'girls?)
Packers at Vikings (no longer unbeaten Vikes, but does the once-mighty GB have any hope?)

and I will always struggle with picking the Broncos. The Pats were held to only three fieldgoals. Maybe Denver has a chance?
That there; exactly the kinda diversion we coulda used.

Well, comparing Ty, jwm, and HLD, there are only 5 games with disagreements:

Colts v Dolphins (HLD takes Colts)
Giants v Jets (Ty takes Jets)
Chargers v Bears (Ty takes Bears)
Skins v Boys (HLD takes Boys)
Pats v Broncos (HLD takes Broncs)

I have to say that the Colts have a good shot, Ty makes a good point about the Jets falling in behind Pennington, The Bears are not as bad as SD, HLD is tempting me with the Broncos,

and the Skins v Boys just comes down to who you want to win! :D
That there; exactly the kinda diversion we coulda used.

Panthers over the Texams
Baltimore over Jags
Giants over the Jets...if the Giants don't turn the ball over, they have much more talent than the Jets do.
Chargers over the Bears
Seattle over the Steelers
Rams over SF
Minn over the Packers
Miami over Indy
Saints over the Bucs
Oakland over Detroit
Bengals over the Cards
Philly over Atlanta
Washington over the Cowboys
Pats over the Broncos

You never know which SF team is gonna show up, but they have the ability to steal this one from the Rams. Their just to iffy to make me pick them though.

Miami D vs Colts O....I'll take that defense. Plus, they are starting Greise, and I think he's going to ressurect his career.

Saints swept the Bucs twice last year. The Bucs are suspect against a strong running game, and Duece always hurts them bad. Bucs have no offense either.

I know, but I am still getting killed not picking the Bengals, so, hell with it.

Washington is strictly a homer. would you take Parcells, or Spurrier? I expect to drop this game, but I can't bring myself to pick Dallas.

Pats...I'm sick of picking against them. All they do is win. Broncos have Danny Kanell. That means all they got is Portis. The Pats will not be beat by Portis, if the win, it'll be through the air, and I don't see that happening.

By my count, I was 6-8 last week and if we all agreed on most of the games, everyone was sucking about equally.

Here are my picks for week 10:

Pittsburgh (they're still the Cards . . . and on the road)
NY Giants (Dan Reeves needs to start packing his things)
Chicago (someone has to win)
Kansas City (Chiefs at home)
Cincinnati (Bengals at home)
Indianapolis (Byron Leftwich is still a rookie)
Tennessee (MVP McNair)
Seattle (Ramsey needs bodyguards and his O-line isn't doing the job)
Carolina!!! (The High Lord's Upset Special)
Minnesota (Surely the Vikes can't drop three in a row)
Dallas (Coach of the Year Bill Parcells)
NY Jets (all the Raiders are either really old or really young, and the injuries don't help)
St. Louis (Rams at home)
Green Bay (Pack at home)
Jesus saves! And takes half damage!

Pittsburg over Arizona
Chicago over Detroit.
Houston over the Bengals (nevermore to pick Cincy)
Tennessee over Miami
Carolina over TB. Big, physical RB's are TB's downfall. But look for Steve Smith to leave his mark somewhere as well.
Dallas over Buffalo. Wonder if Spikes thinks he's still in Cincy
Ravens over the Rams.
Giants over the Falcons
KC over the Browns...but I wouldn't bet real money on it.
Colts over the Jags
Seattle over Washington...Offensive woes aside, Skins can't stop the run.
Vikings over SD
Jets over Oakland
GB over Philly

My tentative picks for Week 10:

Giants over Falcons

Cardinals over Steelers??? Cardinals may actually be looking like they are coming together, with a good running game and an improving QB. The Steelers not so much.

Seahawks over Redskins

Panthers over Buccaneers??? I’m worried about this game because its TB’s turn to win. But I think CAR is the better team…

Colts over Jaguars

Bears over the Lions?? A good place for an upset? Though it looks like Detroit is actually favored by 1.5, so it wouldn’t be too upsetting… And that win against Oakland make the Lions worth looking at.

Bengals over the Texans??? BS may be right about Houston. Let’s face it: Cin just lost to Arizona and the Texans just beat the Panthers.

Titans over the Dolphins?

Chiefs over Browns – this is a scary game because it would be so easy to look past Cleveland.

Vikings over Chargers

Raiders over Jets??? This one is tough. Which Raiders will show up? Also, Oakland has a slightly better record at home….

Cowboys over Bills? This is only worrisome since the Boys are coming off a sloppy win and the Bills are coming off a bye. But Parcells coached Bledsoe, so he should have some insider knowledge on how to beat him.

Rams over Ravens? Rams at home (but coming off an awful loss to the 49ers).

Packers over Eagles??? I’m just not sure…

Edit: I switched to the Cardinels and Raiders..... May the Football Gods have mercy on my soul.....
That there; exactly the kinda diversion we coulda used.
