No, Hotmail is no wonder of security either. My warning is definitely not one to support going back to those morons...
[/QUOTE]

On second thought, I take that back. Have a look at this. I doubt they will make it optional, since advertising is what they expect will pay for the "free" service.

government agencies that want to use autobots to monitor the contents of electronic communications travelling across networks.

:D And if you do anything illegal, Optimes Prime come by and kicks your bottom. :D

"Autobot, transform and roll out!"

50 Gmail accounts to give away

I'm sure pretty much everybody who wants one of these things has one by now, but just in case.. ;)

I was shocked to find that Gmail has given me no less than 50 invites! What on earth they expect me to do with all them all I really have no idea..
I suspect they might be giving away massive numbers of the things because they are beginning their final phase of Beta testing and are getting ready to go public, actually.

I have to say, though, Gmail is great to use, because of the 1 GB of space it is incredibly handy for file transfers, such as game mods and the like.

Anyway, let me know if you'd like an account.

It depends on how often you use Gmail. The more you use it the more invites you get.

Hey DW, I could use a large account for file transferring if you'll give me an invite. I use my super high-security Ford account for my serious emailing, but I can't risk unsecure attachments there. :D

@CM,
yep, I'm a junkie! :D

@Jopperm,
sure, no problem, you'll need to PM me with an email account I can send the invite to though ;)

Lately, I've been donating all my invites here.

It appears google is swamping everyone with invites though. As can be seen on the stats page, donations have jumped the past few days.

edit: just donated 100 invites from two accounts to isnoop. If someone wants an invite, go to the above link - there are currently over 50,000 invites available.

Thanks so much! This program is SO much nicer then my old Hotmail one...yaay Gmail! (Which sounds vaguely similar to "g-string"...pondersome)!!! :p

I pulled a g-string once while bowling. Was painful.

You're welcome. ;)
Indeed, I almost never use my Hotmail account since getting Gmail. The only thing that could make it better, IMO, is if they offered rich text options. But, I suspect these will eventually be provided.

ROFL! Funny you should mention that, I recently told a friend that the name "Gmail," invariably evokes either "Gstring," or "Gspot." :o

@ BS, haven't you learnt by now that pulling at the wrong muscles while engaged in sport is hazardous to the health? :p

For now, they allow free POP3 access, and POP3 clients support rich text.

edit: check your email for a demonstration of the amazingness of POP3 Image

And now Gmail is giving everybody 2 Gb instead of one and they plan to keep on increasing the size in the future. To check out the details go to:

gmail.google.com

Its right on the first page. Again i love this idea of all the news with regard to Gmail being on the first page and them not spamming your inbox with e-mails you will never read.

I got 50 more gmail invites so let me know if anybody needs them.

If anyone needs invites, vicsus posted a site in somewhere in this topic where there are more than 100.000 invites left.

And does this mean the excisting gmail accounts also get 2gb? I'll have look myself...

Hah! Google is probably the only corporate entity that can get a chuckle out of me.

On the eve of Gmail's one-year birthday, our engineers were toiling away furiously. Notes scribbled all over the walls. Complex calculations on napkins and empty pizza boxes. Millions of M&Ms.

LOL there are counting at the moment, my inbox was 1338 mb when I loged in and a minute later it was 1340 mb :D

Hehe, Check out their "Pigeon Power" System too, just such it for "How goole works" :D I too have invites, if needed :)

lol yes! :D I got a laugh out of their announcement when I opened up my Gmail this morning!

Also, much to my delight, they now provide HTML formatting, and they have made Gmail available in a more basic version to nearly all browsers.

After all of this, I really do not know why *anybody* would still want to use Hotmail. I mean, they make you pay to get 2 gigs of storage...
And with the exception of smilies, Gmail now basically offers *all* of the same features that Hotmail does.

And yeah.. I have 50 invites too. It doesn't seem to matter how many I give away though. Every time I send off an invite, my supply of them is automatically topped back up to 50.

I was going to make a comment about no-one needing smilies anyway, but seeing as we are the only posters on this page who have used them? I'd better keep it mum  :D
