I believe I'm going psionic gnome inventer now...unsure of how to pull that off yet though. I'll work on that once the wonder pooper is taken home for the day.

lol! ThanksRead your back story, I love it. I'll redo my character idea to fit a more experienced one. That opens up all sorts of options. Hopefully I can have a post up by later this evening.

Er... well I have a 10 yr old, so I can certainly relate to some of those earlier childcare experiences
lmao!!!30th level! Good golly- I'm with you Mag. I don't think our characters together would have added up to Tashara's mage levels alone. I would have just named him "meatbag" and started a tab at the resurrection counter of the local temple.
Is there any consensus on which characters will be involved? I have an idea for my character, but I don't want to have multiple similar characters running around (ie- I won't be making a female Fighter/Mage gone Druid, or a Geomancer ).
@Geomancer
Are you familiar with the kit DW? It is a neat idea. There were requisite levels of both Arcane and Divine spellcasting ability. Because the character weilded both types, there stopped being that seperation, and majic was just a natural thing. Clerics could use their Wis as the prime requisite instead of their Int, Mages could cast spells wearing armor, etc. Also, over time, the Geomancer mutated, morphing into something more "natural", reflecting the source of the magic- growing gils or wings, being able to photosynthesize or use tremorsense... it could get pretty wacky.
With all this said, it is probably a little late to add another class, but it is always good to consider.
Hmm...I can't really speak for anyone else regarding classes and abilities. This is a question you may want to pose in a separetely titled post within this thread. My suggestion, though, would be to just go with whatever interests you or presents itself to you. My character grew out of the Shadows of Amn player character I was using at the time. So you could always go through your save games and loosely model yourself on a favourite character.
I find that I need to be able to really enjoy the type of class I'm roleplaying, otherwise I have trouble writing about it.
I just did some research on the Geomancer class, this is what I found at a Forgotten Realms site:
Geomancer
This is a general Prestige class that may be applicable to the Forgotten Realms Campaign
The cleric reaches out to a higher power. The wizard trusts only in eldritch tomes. The druid looks to nature for her spells. To the geomancer, however, all magic is the same.
Geomancy is the art of channeling magical energy from many sources through the land itself. A geomancer may research like a wizard, pray like a cleric, or sing like a bard, but he casts spells as only a geomancer can. In the area he calls home (be it high on a mountain, deep in a forest, or even beneath an ocean) he weaves ley lines - powerful connections to the land itself. The spells he casts through these connections with the earth are reflections of his own strength of will. As the geomancer progresses, however, the effort of gathering magic through the earth takes a physical toll on him, making him more and more like the land and its creatures.
Only characters with more than one spellcasting class can become geomancers. The most popular combinations are druid/sorcerer and druid/wizard. Clerics with arcane spellcasting ability can also qualify; those with access to the Plant or Animal domain are the most likely to consider this path. A bard or a ranger who picks up a second, more focused spellcasting class can also adopt this lifestyle.
Hit Die: d6
To qualify to become a Geomancer, a character must fulfill all the following criteria:
* Skills: Knowledge (arcana) 6 ranks, Knowledge (nature) 6 ranks.
* Spells: Ability to cast 2nd-level arcane spells and 2nd-level divine spells.
Very intriguing indeed...... It is definitely something to think about!

Hey DW! Awesome starter! Quick question for you - where exactly is the forest/where is she going (in relation to "nearby" towns, etc.?). If you want to PM me your response so the whole world doesn't see it, it's "cool". Thanks!
I sincerely wish we could re-consider this plan from a perspective that involved pants.

No worries, this type of thing should be open anyway so everyone can get their bearings more easily. I envision the forest Tashara is presently in to be quite far south and east in relation to any types of larger towns or cities. The area is quite remote.
Once she leaves the elven settlement, she'll be heading in a generally northwestern direction.

Well, I'm trying to decide whether I should focus on two different kinds of psychic things. More towards healing, or transportation. I could go with the healing and function as an odd sort of psychic healer if no one wanted to be a cleric. If not, and someone wants to specifically be a cleric, I could shift to the other and have less ability to heal. Thoughts?

@Mag
I wish I could help with your character, but the one thing about D&D I never liked was psionics, so I don't know much. I did play a character once who had a freak psionic ability that allowed him to turn into an animal, but that is it.
@My character
My character is going to be the front-line type, a melee character. I think he's going to be a puncher/unarmed type actually, but since everyone is such a high level, he's going to be pretty good with weapons as well. Heavy on the fighter, with a few rogue or ranger or monk levels (I haven't decided). I think he will be pretty happy-go-lucky, and will be very very scrappy/tough.

Oh, I'm fine with making him, I've just decided to go with the healer type. I don't see much of a point of having the other set of powers the other one gives to be honest.
My guy rocks if I do say so myself. Still need to finish, but yeah.

I'm actually kind of glad you went with the healer- characters that can change position add whole issues of continuity to a story. (not that I don't think it could have worked... this is just simpler)
My guy is kind of basic sounding, but anyone who has read my SOA posts probably knows of my proclivity for F->Th. I really don't have the patience for Arcane spellcasters, and luckily there seem to be plenty already

*nods* I won't be anywhere near as effective as a cleric, but in the case of needing to heal outside of battle, I can. Not to mention doing a good deal of other things as well. Plus, I'll have some interesting tricks with fighting as well.

Just to note, in a pinch, Tashara does know a few fairly low level healing spells, but her Druid path has largely taken her into the direction of offensive magic, so she won't have many healing spells memorised, and she does not view herself as a healer.
lol! This is all sounding awesome, I can't wait to read what people have done!

From the sound of that, I fear you are heading in the same direction as what I had planned. Unless you focus more on the melee, soaking up damage, kind of guy. Mine will be more stealthy, focussing on agility, technique, speed and stealth, rather than on strenght, endurance, etc.

That sounds truly disturbing... Not only does Sytze have a thing for midgets, he prefers them as cross-dressers....
I'm glad my character is neither a midget nor prone to wearing dresses (leggings, tunics etc. are far more practical than robes
)
*cough* Er... Maybe I should bump that pub thread over in SYM
