You're nuts. I would've dropped dead with only 7 hours sleep in that period of time. I need a lot of sleep, I'm kind of a wimp that way, I know. :p

I "need" 11 hours of sleep a day to function "properly". However, 7 hours a week tends to make me...loopy... :o

Freak accident? My suggestion at using lawn equipment was merely a joke. Maybe he took it a bit too far! :p

I "need", ie I feel absolutely optimal and not at all tired during the day, if I sleep 7.5 hours during the dark season, 6 hours is fine during the summer. That however happens about once ever second leap year. Right now I've slept >4.5 h /night the entire week and worked very much so I'm going to relax and sleep this weekend. If I sleep 7 hours/week though I feel horrible, I haven't slept that little for many years, last time was when I was writing up my MSc thesis. Then I worked like 40 hours, slept 3, worked 50 hours, slept 1.5, etc, for 3 weeks.

I really hope you will sleep soon again, Magrus. Both during my teens when I was really suffering from insomnia, and in adult life when I've worked too much to sleep, I have found it really helpful to be able to doze off just a few minutes (could be 2-30) here and there during the day (so called microsleep). Obviously it's not as good as sleeping in full cycles and really entering deep sleep, but it still helps a lot.

Could be.

@ C Elegans, I hope so too. I tend to get little short naps in before the baby gets here, and after she goes home. The time inbetween however, I can't sleep. From previous experience, if this keeps up another week or so, "loopy" won't be the word for how I end up.

I won't have to drink, I'll be messed up enough from sleep deprivation already. :o From all of the previous times I've ended up going without sleep for extended periods of time, once I hit the 10 day mark or so, thing's quickly degrade back into how I was when I hadn't slept for 2 months or so. Never figured out the why of that. Could make for some interesting spam later on though. :p

@Magrus: Don't you get visual hallucinations after such long periods of sleep deprivation? Most people (me included) start to get visual illusions (minor disturbances such as things seeming to move although they don't, or shadows/light and movement in the peripheri of the visual field) after 2-3 days, and after 4-5 days or more it's common with hallucinations, ie seeing things that really are not there at all, like figures, insects.

A friend of mine used to start seeing spiders crawling around when he had worked very hard and been awake for 2-3 days. This was most unfortunate since he had spider phobia.

@JopperM: It happens very rarely, probably it will take another 2 years or so before I post a thread this unserious again :D

An honest and chivalrous adventurer that pursues just causes, you would sacrifice much to help others.

I am a Ranger. We walk in the dark places no others will enter. We stand on the bridge and no-one may pass. We live for the One, we die for the One.
From Babylon 5... Right... Haven't seen that movie.

I don't believe in a 'One'. It would really suck if the One is a 400 pound McDonald's-fan waving a George-Bush-for-president flag....

@C Elegans, to be honest, after that 2 month stay of non-sleeping, hallucinations come and go on a regular basis. Sometimes all it takes is a stretch of 30 hours without sleep or so to make them kick in again. So far, it's been limited to minor things with me not sleeping a lot. Little things in the corner of my vision. If it last a week longer or so, I'll probably be back to watching the walls ripple and wondering what I'm seeing on the floor around me is really there. :o

I actually learned to program C++ during that 2 month stretch, when I got out of the hospital and had started sleeping again, forgot everything. I can't recall a lot of what I do while I'm sleep deprived for a while. I end up essentially on an extended trip and oblivious to "reality".

Imaginary spiders are your friends. :)

I'm not the only one in my house who sees them, though. My cats see them and play with them a lot, even though they sleep most of the day.

My best friend in High school had a dog that would wander around the house aimlessly for hours until she would jump, yelp, and run off until she hit the wall or a chair or something. We always thought she was hallucinating bugs that followed her around until they caught up to her and bit her.

She didn't sleep much for all the wandering. :o

Funny, the closest other possibilities I got were Spock (which I expected before I got Elrond) and Yoda. As of today, I see all three results when I was talking with a friend of mine about what worried her (her parents splitting up and becoming even crazier than ever). I'm surprised with how well I may know myself sometimes.

Aw... your lucky. All I've got is a c0cker spaniel next door that tries to walk through the fence.

Erm... not including the two dogs we own.

EDIT- Oh, jeez... never let neighbourhood kids onto your computer. :o
